Floods have affected 20.25 million people in 78 districts across the country, UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA)
In a latest situation report on the floods, the OCHA said over 1.9 million houses had been reported damaged or destroyed, while severe flooding still persisted in parts of Dadu and Jamshoro districts, and rescue operations had been continuing.

The OCHA has been working to mobilise and coordinate, effective and principled humanitarian action in partnership with national and international actors.

The OCHA also confirmed that the government had commenced distribution of Watan Cards to flood-affected families, entitling each family to a Rs 20,000 compensation. Eligible persons were being registered by the National Database Registration Authority (NADRA), in this regard.

The OCHA's Financial Tracking Service also indicated that 31 percent of the $2 billion that was required under the UN 'fresh flash appeal' had been provided.

Schools: The OCHA reported that number of schools across the country being used as shelters had decreased, however 692,000 were still staying in some 3,122 schools, while some 9,970 schools had been reported damaged by the floods. Number of temporary learning centers (TLCs) established in cluster had reached 454, from which 38,879 flood-affected children had been benefiting.

Meanwhile, there were also some 415 adult literacy centers that benefited 7,028 flood-affected adults. It is also reported that the army planned to rehabilitate 170 flood-damaged schools in Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Layyah and Multan districts. The work was already underway in 75 schools and 32 TLC teachers and non-government organisation (NGO) volunteers had participated in the first phase of training at Hyderabad.

Also, the Sindh government has released funds for initial cleaning and fumigation of schools in Khairpur and Sukkur districts.

Food: The OCHA stated that 10 million people were in need of food assistance in flood-affected areas, while further assessments were ongoing and would provide a clearer picture of the numbers requiring food support, both in forms of relief and early recovery.
