The Global War on Terrorism, which we've been fighting for the last decade in several theaters simultaneously, has been defined in terms of catching and killing this iconic figure. Now that he's dead – with the US reportedly in possession of the body – can we declare victory and go home?

> > > In hisspeechto the nation, the President twice cautioned that this doesn't mean the end of the fight, and the pundits have followed through, declaring that "of course" the battle isn't over. Aside from all the chest-thumping and victorious howling rising from the crowds, and the politicians who delude them, the sudden absence of this devil figure this looming spectral threat perpetually lurking somewhere in the shadows – leaves a gaping hole in the rationale for our eternal "war on terrorism." A new devil will no doubt be found, but there aren't many credible candidates, or at least none with the penumbra of menace surrounding the founder of al-Qaeda.
> > > Bin Laden's demise delivers a smashing blow to al-Qaeda – and, perhaps, a fatal one. For the succession to the leadership is now up for grabs, and this is one situation the jihadists have never had to face. Beheaded, the organization could very well be torn apart by an internal struggle, with various factions vying to claim the al-Qaeda franchise.
> > > Even as we hear the familiar chants of "USA! USA!" and the talking heads on television assure us that this is the proof that we're still No. 1, the political implications of this event do not bode well for the War Party.
> > > A war-weary American public is preoccupied with issues of internal decline, and is no longer so easily frightened. The idea that we have to keep fighting in Afghanistan to destroy a leaderless and demoralized organization is not going to resonate. Al-Qaeda faces not only the death of its leader and founder, but the discovery of a massive organizational headquarters, no doubt filled with intelligence about the terrorist network, in effect has sounded al-Qaeda's death knell. Sure, they may launch new attacks in an effort to show they're still a force to be contended with, but these amount to the death rattle of the organization, as it splinters and falls to pieces.
> > > What's interesting is that the compound where bin Laden was hiding wasn't in Waziristan, the "tribal" wildlands of Pakistan, but rather in Abbottabad, which is being described as an affluent suburb of Islamabad, the Pakistani capital. Although the President credited the Pakistanis with providing the initial tip that led to bin Laden's death in a raid by US Special Forces, the fact that Abbottabad is known as a military town, the prime base of the Pakistan security forces – and that bin Laden was hiding in their very midst – is bound to cause friction between the two countries. The logical question is: how could the Pakistanisnothave known? After all, the compound where bin Laden had taken refuge wasn't exactly unobtrusive: eight times bigger than any structure in the area, and surround by extraordinary security – a high wall topped with barbed wire, no doubt manned by guards – it would have been hard to miss.
> > > All that aside, however, the death of al-Qaeda's founder, the author and chief perpetrator of the worst terrorist attack in US history, marks the end of what was, essentially, a war of vengeance. With bin Laden gone, the target of our rage is gone, and the desire for revenge sated. Our leaders are already telling us that this is no time to relax our efforts, but the missing  emotional charge of invoking the terrorist leader's name will let much of the air out of War Party's tires.
> > > As a war-weary nation confronts the fact of its own bankruptcy, and faces internal problems the severity of which can no longer be denied, a war they told us was going to be "generational" at the very least is coming to an end – without anything really to show for it except the dead body of a single man, which we will now display to the world in a primitive demonstration of American power.
> > > If the death of bin Laden can be counted a "victory" in the war on terrorism, then surely it is a Pyrrhic one. For all the chauvinistic posturing and the President's invocation of the vaunted "unity" that supposedly blessed us in the wake of 9/11, the costs of pursuing and killing the terrorist leader have been dear. Bin Laden, in one of his messages, once boasted that he would bankrupt America, and indeed his prophecy is in the process of coming true. In response to 9/11, we launched two major wars and several less obtrusive military operations, rampaging through the Middle East and reaching deeply into Central Asia. It took us ten years, and trillions of dollars, to track down and eliminate a single man. Although we eventually got our man, who was the real winner in this battle?

Next day's newspaper from Pakistan about Osama

http://www.thenewstribe.com/2011/05/02/

Will be interesting to see how this works out. US claims Osama killed
based on DNA and body buried at sea. Pakistani TTP news sources claim
he is not killed. Are they going to dive to bring his body back up to
prove it now? Kinda tricky. Why was he buried at sea? Only reason I
can think is so he can not be treated as a martyred subject. Guess they
should have had one viewing at least of his body dead before they
dropped him in the drink.

Re: Why Senator John McCain Cannot be President: Eleven Months and a Hundred Yards Short of Citizenship

Greg, You have it correct, though you used some terrible examples....

Had Manson's execution date been prior to the law change he would have
been executed. He gained immunity from that punishment with the '72
California Supreme court ruling as did every other prisoner. It was
NOT a moratorium in California.... it was made illegal.

Before Roe v Wade women were sent to jail for abortions. The ruling
stopped all legal activities against them, therefore they were still
chargeable, it was just not possible to start the proceeding. ....Keep
in mind that Abortion was never made legal..... the prosecution for
for abortion was made illegal.... and that is not just semantics.
Women that were in jail for abortion served out their sentences.

The Vietnam draft dodgers were Pardoned by Carter on his first day in
the White House.

Ding!

Recall when the "world", got real pissed off when Mossad tracked down
and killed every blessed asshole that killed the Israeli wrestling
team in Munich.

Wanna bet we don't hear that bullshit now?

Posting your thoughts and ideas is a wonderful thing. It is a JOY to
read every single posting every single day.

There has been a problem of late, though. The posting of three or four
original sentences that is followed by several paragraphs that are
simply cut and paste that can also be found numerous times throughout
that same thread and other threads as well is not what we do here.

Well,, thats SPAM !!! I have no problem reading the same material once
or twice but on some threads it is becoming ridiculously
repetitive..... when that action spreads to other threads and the
supposed posting either originates or answers in that (or those)
threads using the same cut and paste diatribe it is against our rules.
WE DO NOT ACCEPT SPAM from outside sources or from
members !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So BASTA, GENUG, ENOUGH !!!! In the future said posts will be removed,
the explanation is here.

We Got Him -- Time to Bring the Troops Home

We Got Him -- Time to Bring the Troops Home
Justin Raimondo, May 01, 2011

Even before we knew the details surrounding the death of Osama bin Laden, his demise was being hailed as the "end of an era." The Global War on Terrorism, which we've been fighting for the last decade in several theaters simultaneously, has been defined in terms of catching and killing this iconic figure. Now that he's dead – with the US reportedly in possession of the body – can we declare victory and go home?

Of course not. You didn't think the Powers That Be would let us get off quite so easily, now did you?

In his speech to the nation, the President twice cautioned that this doesn't mean the end of the fight, and the pundits have followed through, declaring that "of course" the battle isn't over.

The logical question is: how could the Pakistanis not have known?

It took us ten years, and trillions of dollars, to track down and eliminate a single man. Although we eventually got our man, who was the real winner in this battle?

In response to the events of September 11, I wrote a column entitled "Kill 'em and get out!" Well, now we've killed him -- and it's time to bring the troops home, now.

Democrats won’t be laughing for long.

Last week at the White House Correspondents Dinner in Washington,
'humorist' Seth Meyers delivered a stream of put-downs of those
unfortunate enough to be a subject of the liberal media. The people
doing the most laughing were the most liberal ones in the large group—
that included self-appointed… 'celebrities' who were somehow 'lucky
enough' to get a ticket.

The person doing the least laughing at that bash was a possible
candidate for President, Donald Trump. I immediately wondered why
Trump would go to such a "roast", when it was so obvious that Barack
Obama would likely orchestrate the event so as to make issues like his
bogus birth certificate seem to be light, enjoyable humor in the look-
the-other-way-to-crime culture of the corrupt Washington
establishment.

If Donald Trump didn't already know that our two-party political
system is off-its-kilter, he should surely realize, now, the
inexcusable leverage the media has in determining who our elected
officials can be. I've characterized this country's problems as being
the approximate equal responsibility of: the media, government, and
our screwed-up public education system from start to finish. Of those
three, correcting our media will be the most difficult. It will
likely involve closing down 90% of all media outlets once they violate
even one on the provisions in my New Constitution:

"Representatives shall not intentionally communicate with any news
medium whose coverage area is predominately outside of their home
district. Nor shall they, or any government official, cultivate a
media personae, or make petty public speeches, introductions or
comments lauding any person, living or dead, nor any civil or private
projects or those responsible. Comments to media by representatives
or government employees shall be germane to pending legislation, or to
the exercise of their jobs. The media shall not solicit public
officials' opinions over those of the People."

"Other than the President or his agents, no person, news medium,
organization, group, their envoys, or any lobby, within government or
without, shall be allowed to contact representatives while such are in
Washington."

"Representatives shall not be polled concerning issues up for a vote,
nor shall Citizens be polled prior to any election on their support
for any candidate, amendment, or referendum item. It shall be a
felony to take, or to disseminate, the results of any such poll."

"No release of projected election or referenda results shall be made
until all polls have been closed one hour."

"It shall be a felony for any government official, celebrity or media
idol—past or present—to publicly endorse or campaign on behalf of any
candidate for public office or job."

"English, that is grammatically written and correctly spoken, is the
official language of the USA and shall be the model for every medium
and every public discourse."

"No law nor private or civil action shall abridge: the freedom of
speech; the freedom of a fair and pro-democracy press or other medium;
the right of People to peaceably assemble; and the right of any
Citizen or group to petition government or any of its branches or
departments for redress of grievances."

"Freedom of the press or other medium mandates that there be
reasonable truthfulness in reporting. Wanton distortion of the truth,
or deliberate omission of the truth—except in cases of obvious fiction
or satire—is prohibited. Stating or implying that a particular news
medium has a collective voice (we) or position on any issue is
prohibited, as for example via: anonymous editorials; regularly
occurring accompanying comments; commentary programs financed by, or
ideologically screened by, the same news medium; editorials named as
being authored by management; editorial comments by others that are in
any way ideologically censored, omitted or screened; or by comments
occurring at specific times or designated locations that most would
come to associate with the management of such medium, even if such are
innocuous. No medium shall be a forum for promoting the ideology of
its management or owners, nor shall they employ anyone who uses such
job to hawk their personal political preferences—at risk of loss of
license or closure of the business. Flagrantly editing news to
promote the ideology of management is a felony. No medium shall
analyze, assess, summarize, or make subjective judgments about any
pending election or referendum. Nor shall they invite others outside
of the media to do so. But factual, thorough coverage of the
candidates or referenda issues—on an as occurs basis—is allowed,
provided there are no comments, nor actions, as above, and provided
the same unbiased coverage is given to all of the candidates or to all
of the referenda issues. It shall be a 10 year felony to repress
truthful news reporting in any medium by threatening legal action. No
medium can be sued for libel for presenting material authored by
others, but if a person is harmed by the medium's content, they shall
be allowed to reply—without editing—in that medium. Each medium shall
respond to breaking news without considering the response of any other
medium. Injuries due to improper news coverage or non coverage shall
not be excused by the media response. A medium reporting on
government shall do so thoroughly, objectively, and with detachment—
being neither laudatory nor critical by form, and not repressing
thoughtful dissent nor its coverage. Every medium shall favor the
truth over supposition, without parity nor bias. False or deceptive
commercial advertising is prohibited. Deliberate use by any
candidate, their staffs or election committees, of false or deceptive
campaign speeches, slogans, advertisements, humor, or innuendo is a
felony. No organization, nor part of the media, nor any special
interest group(s) shall in any way endorse a slate of candidates for
public office; flagrant violation is a felony. No medium shall
display active public records without the free consent of the apt
parties."

Any "serious" candidate for President should be smart enough to
realize that the elitist media has no constitutional right to have an
influence on the outcome of an election that is greater than the per
capita votes of those employed in the media. In short, ALL political
commentary regarding pending elections or referenda shall be stopped!
Never more shall any candidate, or possible candidate, for public
office be the subject of inconsiderate humor or innuendo. And when a
cad like Britt Hume expresses his personal opinion that… 'Donald Trump
has no chance of becoming President', Hume would be immediately fired,
or Fox News would be permanently closed down for not being in the best
interest of the people.

When Donald Trump looks with disfavor on what is going on in our…
fucking government, there might be a GLIMMER of hope that the "Empty
Ritual" in politics, and elsewhere in the world, will finally be
experiencing the "Wring-the-neck" that has been so long overdue.

Respectfully submitted,

Fwd: [NEWS] Osama's Dead; Obama Re-elected?

We caught Osama, but then dropped him overboard

The TYPE of surgical strike operation that was used is exactly what should have been done in 2002 instead of occupying Iraq.
But why it was done now and why the corpse has been thrown into the sea (it's not Obama? he had already been dead for some time?) are questions that have to be asked, given that every word Obama says is a lie.
And what does a "DNA sample" tell us?  That the body was a member of Osama bin Laden's family?
This is a campaign event.

American Thinker, by J. Robert Smith

Does the killing of Osama bin Laden by an American Special Forces unit translate into a re-election boost to President Obama? In the coming days, expect President Obama's poll numbers to bump up. Also expect a spate of articles and opinion pieces in the mainstream media to celebrate the President for keeping his pledge to kill the diabolical bin Laden. But expect the President's political advantages from the bin Laden killing to be short. As presidential candidate Bill Clinton's 1992 political team famously said, "It's the economy, stupid." ............
