Left Renews Calls for "Fairness Doctrine" in Wake of Cogresswoman Giffords' Shooting

Left Renews Calls for "Fairness Doctrine" in Wake of Cogresswoman Giffords' Shooting

Snidely Whiplash

Democrat Congressman James Clyburn never fails to disappoint. In the wake of the shooting of Congresswoman Giffords by a disgruntled constituent we have the left following the playbook to the letter.

First were the over the top assurances that the shooter, deranged Jared Loughner, was an angry conservative, Tea Party follower, Beck loving, Limbaugh listening, Palinite. Then FACTS emerged and we find Loughner believes Bush was behind 9/11, that the Mars Rover is a hoax, that Hitler and Marx's published works are among his favorites, that skulls are for shrine-making, and shooting his Congressional representative and 19 other folks is a good way to get some attention. He was dead on right about the last one - the gaining attention part.

Now we move to Sage II. This is where the usual suspects call conservative speech "hate speech" and "vitriol" and a danger to the Republic. We've seen this before as well. After the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995 none less than President Clinton blamed conservative talk radio, at that time meaning Limbaugh almost exclusively, for the event, in spite of the fact that McVey later admitted he was angry about Waco and Ruby Ridge and was retaliating. So it seems McVey's bombing had nothing to do with conservatism by his own admission.

Stage III is where we stand today. Now we hear Congressman Clyburn's call for a return of the Fairness Doctrine. Clearly this is his linking conservative political speech and dissemination with the FCC and need to "regulate" said conservatives and their "hate speech" and "vitriol."

Not to be forgotten Clyburn's daughter is a member of the board of FCC commissioners, who voted recently for net neutrality. She is the source of the quote about "every nappy headed child" having free internet access. What a grand way to make sure his daughter is more powerful and famous, thus translating to more riches later by sitting on boards of directors and making speeches...just saying.

Re: It's Time To Draw The Line In The Sand

Just hearing of what the left says requires me to buy barf bags by the truckload.

On Tue, Jan 11, 2011 at 4:52 AM, Keith In Köln <keithintampa@gmail.com> wrote:
I sit here in Köln, Federal Republic of Germany this morning,  after watching CNN International, and after reading a number of publications on line like the New York Times, the Daily Kos, and DemocraticUnderground.  I am so outraged, as well as embarassed about the image of our Nation, and how hateful those who hold far left, "progressive"  viewpoints have acted within the last seventy-two hours.  Shortly after this crazed killer Jared Loughner had committed his dastardly deed, the attacks by far left extremists began.  There was an immediate attempt to connect Loughner with the Tea Party, Rush Limbaugh,  FOX News, et. al,;  and this was done prior to any one or any entity knowing anything about Loughner.  Instead of backing up and, "punting";  the attacks have continued, and the hatred has become even more virulent.

It is time that all Americans say enough to the hatred, lies and smear that the far left extremists have gone to after the terrible tragedy that took place out in Tucson Arizona and committed by a psychopath.   It is unequivocal, the hatred that we have seen in the last seventy-two hours, driven by far left hate sites such as the New York Times, the Daily Kos, MSNBC, and a host of others. We have seen it on the boards here in Google, within our own group by Tom For News, Studio, Jay, and on other boards that we are all familiar with, by far left Moonbat Lil'Mikey,  Cos, and others.

I, and several other members here in Political Forum have shown examples of the same type of "cross hairs"  and targets that have been used by Democrats in their campaigns, yet somehow those with far left of center beliefs have grasped upon those conservative advertisements and attempted to utilize these ads, suggesting that conservatives such as Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, and FOX News in general are assessories to murder.  This is beyond the pale, and just flat out despicable.

The anger by the far left, because their vision of a socialistic "progressive" society has fallen apart, is unprecedented.  These individuals are so out of touch with mainstream America, and their hypocracy is literally unbelieveable, except that it is real.

By example, yesterday, the New York Times said yesterday:

"It is legitimate to hold Republicans and particularly their most virulent supporters in the media responsible for the gale of anger that has produced a vast majority of these death threats. Many on the right have exploited the arguments of division, reaping political power by demonizing immigrants or welfare recipients or bureaucrats."

That is flat-out reprehensible, and every American should condemn the New York Times for spewing such hatred.  Americans who oppose our lack of security on the border, Americans who oppose the redefining of the term "Marriage";   Americans who  oppose the socialized medicine recently passed, and Americans who oppose the "Nanny State" policies of the Democrats are not encouraging violence because of their beliefs, which is exactly what the progressive socialists are attempting to portray.

If one opposes the socialistic policies of the far left, we are now accused of assisting or conspiring with a psychopath to commit murder?  This is just flat out unacceptable!  It is despicable, and we all must do our utmost to stop such actions and behavior now;  as Barney Fife said, it is time to "Nip It In The Bud".

The hypocrisy is stunning....We have MSNBC which is built around attacking FOX News.  That is there sole purpose, (and I might add, it's not working out real well for them) and the hatred and vile lies that comes from organizations like TruthOut.org. the Daily Kos, The New York Times, and a host of other far left extremist publications and web sites compares to nothing that their conservative counterparts put forth.

I'm angry, and every other thinking American should be too.  I ask those of you who hold left of center values to consider what I have suggested here today.  If you have in fact accused the conservative media, and conservatives in general of being assessories to this psychopath Laughner,  it is irresponsible and hateful.  I hope that you see that, but if you don't,   I would suggest that you do a self examination and a reality check.   You literally should be ashamed of yourself.

Re: The Giffords shooting's gay, Hispanic hero Daniel Henandez ---- and yes, his sexuality and ethnicity matter

Why?  It has nothing to do with what he did. I have seen his story in the good news channes, FOX NEWS, and not once was either his sexuality or ethnicity mentioned.  But I would bet that the loonies on the left would point it out at every chance.  If either had any relevance to what he did I am sure it would have been a part of the story and he himslef would have mantioned it, if not shouted it to the whole world.

Disagreeable and Negative are synonymous.

Will the Union-Controlled NLRB Kick the Girl Scouts Out On the Streets?

If you're a parent who is accustomed to helping your local Girl Scouts sell their cookies in front of your local grocery store, don't be surprised if, very soon, you learn that you're not welcome anymore. Unfortunately, the Girl Scouts, as well as other charitable organizations, may soon become the victims of a power play by the union-controlled National Labor Relations Board and union bosses who want to further muscle their way onto employers' private property.

Last February, a group of Girl Scouts planning to sell their cookies in front of a Richmond, Virginia grocery store were turned away from the store by its new owners.

"In the past, Ukrop's has helped several non-profit, charitable, and service organizations in their fundraising efforts by allowing them to use the sidewalk space near the entrance of their stores," the statement, which is excerpted in a notice on the state Girl Scout Web site, reads. "As we make the transition to new ownership, Giant/Martin's new sidewalk policy does not make provisions for sidewalk vending at any of their stores."

Were the stores' new owners against Girl Scouts selling cookies? Probably not. More likely, the concern was that by allowing one group (be it the Girl Scouts, the Red Cross or the Salvation Army) onto the stores' sidewalks, it would force the stores' to open their sidewalks to union organizers (or leafleting) as well.

Back in November, the National Labor Relations Board invited interested parties to file briefs on a case involving an employer's private property rights. On Friday, a coalition of employers filed an amicus brief [PDF] with the NLRB with regard to the little known case called Roundy's. According to the coalition's press release [emphasis added]:

The case before the NLRB is Roundy's vs. Milwaukee Building and Construction Trades (Case No. 30-CA-17185). At issue is whether the government can force any employer that allows charitable, well-meaning groups onto the premises to also allow union organizers whose purpose in many cases is to turn away customers through boycotts and similar actions. Such activity is often part of a larger strategy to pressure employers to accede to demands such as the nationally unpopular "card check" scheme that bypasses federally supervised private ballot votes.

The decision also would allow unions to go on the business owner's property with the intent of running the company out of business – a real threat to many small businesses and entrepreneurs. Should the NLRB curtail employers' property rights, the result could be a significant disincentive for employers to allow charities and community groups onto their premises, as well as subjecting customers and employees to harassment and labor strife. CDW's brief argues strongly in favor of protecting customers, employees, and employers and advocates that the Board "should allow employers to refuse non-employee union access to private property, particularly where such labor organizations seek to engage in harmful boycott activities."

Union bosses claim that if the business has invited other outside groups such as Girl Scouts, Salvation Army Santas, bloodmobiles, and other charitable organizations that do not intend to harm the employer's operations, the employer must provide union agents the same access, even if the union's intent is to harm the business.

As businessman Brett McMahon explained on the Halt the Assault blog [emphasis added]:

If this new request by union leaders is allowed to become law, its effect will be for many business operators like myself to have no choice but to close doors to any outside groups. The impact to charities ability to operate and reach support would be devastating. Ultimately, unions are trying to make sure that no one wins.

Sorry, Girl Scouts. Sorry, Boy Scouts. Sorry, Red Cross. And the local soup kitchen. This is not hyperbole. This is a direct threat to the ability for small business to say who comes onto their property and how they affect their business.

And I can tell you one thing: no matter your own view on the history and current role of unions, any business owner worth their salt would immediately shut their workplace to all outside organizations because it's economic suicide to welcome those whose stated purpose is to drive up your costs and in many cases are there to seek consumer boycotts or other damaging actions.

Keep an eye out, or your business may have to choose between supporting your community or wearing the union label.

The NLRB will likely decide this issue in the not-too-distant future. However, based on the NLRB's union leanings, the Girl Scouts (and other groups) should not get their hopes up.
