Leftovers in glee.

I would still support him.  Budgets and tax cuts and attacking the public sector unions are more important

Christie, on Fox News, talks gun control

Republican gubernatorial nominee Chris Christie made appearances on Monday night and Tuesday morning on GOP-friendly Fox News Channel — and used part of the first appearance to tell the Republican base about his support for certain gun control measures.

In an interview Monday night with Sean Hannity, Christie agreed with the host that New Jerseyans' tax burden (at all levels) amounts to 60 percent of their income. He talked about the candidacy of Chris Daggett and the visits from President Barack Obama and about unemployment and the economy.

Asked if there are issues on which he's moderate or to the left, he said, "I favor some of the gun control measures we have in New Jersey" and was interrupted by Hannity shaking his head and saying, "Bad idea."

Christie: "We have a densely populated state and there's a big handgun problem in New Jersey. Now, I don't support all the things that the governor supports, by a long stretch. But on certain gun control issues, looking at it from a law enforcement perspective, seeing how many police officers were killed — we have an illegal gun problem in New Jersey."

Hannity: "Should every citizen in your state be allowed to get a licensed weapon if they want one?"

Christie: "In New Jersey, that's not going to happen, Sean."

Hannity: "Why?"

Christie: "Listen, with the Democratic Legislature that we have, there is no way those type of things –"

Hannity: "Would you support it?"

Christie: "Listen, at the end of the day, what I support are common sense laws that will allow people to protect themselves. But I also am very concerned about the safety of our police officers on the streets. Very concerned. And I want to make sure that we don't have an abundance of guns out there." He then finally extricated himself from the issue and turned the focus back to the economy.

This morning he was back to visit Fox & Friends. Host Gretchen Carlson said Corzine declined the show's request for an interview. But it played excerpts from his Monday visit to Fox 5 in New York and allowed Christie to talk about his urban education platform. And in this interview, as in Monday's with Hannity, he said the race is a referendum on Corzine, not Obama. "New Jersey's problems are very specific to New Jersey, and we need to fix those problems, and they need a change to be able to do it."

The fact Hannity thinks LICENSING has anything to do with the legitimate right to have a gun is sickening. Some of you don't see what an establishment joke he is.

  3. Michael Wong says:

He just lost any vote from my family and friends. Gun control in any form is
unacceptable to the vast majority of Americans. No more RINOs.

Sorry, Christie, I'm not gonna vote for "some of the Constitution" no matter what Jersians problems are. Seizing guns from private citizens is tyranny. No law will ever stop a criminal from having one. If you're unfortunate enough to meet a thug with a gun you won't have time to call Christie for help. You'd better have one yourself. Furthermore, Our second ammendment rights were not secured to protect us from criminals. They were to protect us from an out of control govt.

Whenever I hear that term "common sense laws" applied to gun regulation, the person saying it loses all credibility with me.
My personal feeling is that if EVERYONE carried a sidearm in plain view, society would be a lot safer, and much more polite as well.

Re: Wringing-the-Neck of Empty Ritual.

Good Afternoon John,

Like Jonathan,  Michael, and Mark,  I too would like to see your New Constitution that you ave talked about for at least several years.

Yes, I realize that you have posted various parts and pieces of this document,  but why not post the damn thing, for us to read and try to understand?

Why the hesitation?  Are you concerned about some sort of copyright infringement?  If that is the case, then I can understand.....To a degree, and you need only state that this is the cause of your hesitation.

Although I disagree with Michael (MJ) on a number of occasions, I will say that he is a well thought, well meaning and logical gentleman and not one who is apt to hurl insult or personal attacks on the board.

Just a thought, but obviously we'd love to see your work!

Dear Robert (Prezioso):

My first essay 'title-set" on Political Forum was: "Start the
Revolution!  Government is out-of-touch with the People!"  Apparently,
even the concept of there being a revolution tired most people out.
They want others to fight their battles for them—even while this
country is going-down-the-tubes.

The absolute shortest way to correct our broke government and corrupt
institutions is by ratifying my STRONG New Constitution.  It's true
that IF our elected officials had sincerely adhered to the ideals of
the Founding Fathers, that are expressed in the original Constitution,
we wouldn't have many of today's problems.  Unfortunately, Congress
and the White House pay lip-service to the Constitution while ignoring
most of it, most of the time.  They are our elected dictators, not our
elected representatives.

Our bad government is mostly just a huge personnel problem.  The bad
personnel began  making big promises to the lazy minorities in society
in order to get enough votes to keep getting elected.  It's easy to
fault the "fat cats" when the lazy outnumber the former a hundred to
one.

Please understand that I have my own agendas which prevent me from
being an active supporter of your "Save the Country" effort.  If
enough people, like you, will start talking about straightening out
government, the powers-that-be will come tumbling down.  I'll capsule
your long reply so that others can read it, too.

Sincerely,  — John A. Armistead  —  Patriot

Subject:  I agree there is no answer for that Constitution.

You seem to realize that our government has over-stepped its rights
over the people of this country.  As I look at it, the way this
happened is we are too worried about who is getting what from the
government.  On the one hand—the government hand—it keeps us separated
so we may not be able to protect ourselves from the attacks on us
every day by the political machines.  Do Not Get Me Wrong!  I Love
This Great Country, and I did service the military.  But I feel that
the government has been taken away from the people and is now only for
themselves.   Just look at what they get paid for doing nothing.  They
don't even work all year, and the expenses are all on us.  Every rep.
and sen. gets paid from $150,000 to almost $200,000 a year for doing
things that we would be put in jail for.

If you get a chance, go to my free site.  Hey, everybody has to rant
and vent when it comes to the government.  I want to start a new
political party to take the government back for the people and restore
the original constitution of the United States which truly gave us the
power, and where the words: "We The People" mean something.  The link,
below, is the site.  Please email any comments that could help me
improve the content of my site.  You seem to be one of the more down-
to-reality people that I have encountered so far in this forum.

Thanks for reading, even if you do not go to the site.

Re: Poor little WingNut Keithie Keith Re: travel advisory -- Wingnuts in meltdown

The truth speaks for itself Tom.

Folks can judge for themselves, as to whether they believe I am so hate filled as you claim,  as compared to what you so lovingly and consistently share with the group.

We might also want to consider "originality"  as a "comparison factor".   Whether folks believe that you post original, thoughtful and independent opinion and trains of thought in your missives,  versus something that is a "cut and paste" article that you claim to have written;  as compared to what I tend to share with the group.
