Re: Crazy Uncle Ron

a vote for Ron Paul is a vote for freedom, prosperity and non-
interventionism ... regardless of how his supporters make you feel

I find your partisanship toward a conservative republican interesting.
I suspect that you have financial incentives to want a continued
invasion on the middle east.

Re: Crazy Uncle Ron

Fact:  A lot of Ron Paul's supporters are incredibly irritating: There are, without question, plenty of decent folks who support Ron Paul. However, for whatever reason, his supporters as a group are far more annoying than those of all the other candidates put together. It's like every spammers, truther, troll, and flake on the net got together under one banner to spam polls and try to annoy everyone into voting for Ron Paul (which is, I must admit, a novel strategy).

Fact:  Ron Paul is an isolationist: The last time the United States retreated to isolationism was after WW1 and the result was WW2. Since then, the world has become even more interconnected which makes Ron Paul's strategy of retreating behind the walls of Fortress America even more unworkable than it was back in the thirties.

Fact:  Ron Paul wants to immediately cut and run in Iraq: Even if you're an isolationist like Ron Paul, the reality is that our foreign policy isn't currently one of isolationism and certain allowances should be made to deal with that reality. Yet, Paul believes we should immediately retreat from Al-Qaeda in Iraq and let that entire nation collapse into genocide and civil war as a result. Maybe, just maybe, Paul's motives are better than those of liberals like Murtha and Kerry, who want to see us lose a war for political gain, but the catastrophic results would be exactly the same.

Fact:  Ron Paul excused Al-Qaeda's attacks on America: In the single most repulsive moment of the entire Presidential race so far, Ron Paul excused Al-Qaeda's attack on American with this comment about 9/11,

"They attack us because we've been over there. We've been bombing Iraq for 10 years."

In other words, America deserved to be attacked by Al-Qaeda.

This is the sort of facile comment you'd expect to hear from an America-hating left winger like Michael Moore or Noam Chomsky, not from a Republican running for President -- or from any Republican in office for that matter. If you want to truly realize how foolish that sort of thinking is, imagine what the reaction would be if we had bombed Egyptian or Indonesian civilians after 9/11 and then justified it by saying "We attacked them because those Muslims have been over here."

Fact:  Ron Paul is the single, least electable major candidate running for the presidency in either party: Libertarianism simply is not considered to be a mainstream political philosophy in the United States by most Americans. That's why the Libertarian candidate in 2004, Michael Badnarik, only pulled .3% of the vote. Even more notably, Ron Paul only pulled .47% of the vote when he ran at the top of the Libertarian ticket in 1988. Granted, Paul would do considerably better than that if he ran at the top of the Republican Party ticket, but it's hard to imagine his winning more than, say 35%, of the national vote and a state or two -- even if he were very lucky. In other words, having Ron Paul as the GOP nominee would absolutely guarantee the Democratic nominee a Reaganesque sweep in the election.

Summary: Is Ron Paul serious about small government, enforcing the Constitution, and enforcing the borders? Yes, and those are all admirable qualities. However, he also has a host of enormous flaws that makes him unqualified to be President and undesirable, even as a Republican Congressmen.

Re: Crazy Uncle Ron

More quotes from Crazy Uncle Ron:

On Securing America's border:

"The people that want big fences and guns, sure, we could secure the border. A barbed wire fence with machine guns, that would do the trick. I don't believe that is what America is all about. Every time you think about this toughness on the border and ID cards and REAL IDs, think it's a penalty against the American people too. I think this fence business is designed and may well be used against us and keep us in. In economic turmoil, the people want to leave with their capital and there's capital controls and there's people controls. Every time you think about the fence, think about the fences being used against us, keeping us in."

On The Republican Party and Ronald Reagan:

"After years of trying to work through the Republican Party both in and  out of government, I have reluctantly concluded that my efforts must be  carried on outside the Republican Party......I therefore resign my membership in the Republican Party and enclose my membership card." - Ron Paul, 1987.

Ron Paul "I want to totally disassociate myself from the policies" of GOP & Reagan

Re: Crazy Uncle Ron

Here are a few quotes from Crazy Uncle Ron:

On Black Americans:

"If you have ever been robbed by a black teen-aged male, you know how unbelievably fleet-footed they can be." - Ron Paul, 1992

"I think we can safely assume that 95 percent of the black males in that city are semi-criminal or entirely criminal. "

"Order was only restored in L.A. when it came time for the blacks to pick up their welfare checks three days after rioting began."

"AIDS sufferers enjoy the attention and pity that comes with being sick."

Crazy Uncle Ron on the 9/11 "Truther" Movement:

CALLER: I want a complete, impartial, and totally independent investigation of the events of September 11, 2001. I'm tired of this bogus garbage about terrorism. Ask Michael Meacher about how he feels about this bogus war on terrorism. Can you comment on that please?

HON. DR. RON PAUL: Well, that would be nice to have. Unfortunately, we don't have that in place. It will be a little bit better now with the Democrats now in charge of oversight. But you know, for top level policy there's not a whole lot of difference between the two policies so a real investigation isn't going to happen. But I think we have to keep pushing for it. And like you and others, we see the investigations that have been done so far as more or less cover-up and no real explanation of what went on.

http://michellemalkin.com/2007/05/19/trutheriness-and-ron-paul/

Crazy Uncle Ron on the purported "North American Union"  (which we all now know was much ado, about nothing,  yet Ron Paul continued to bolster the crazy conspiracy theory)

According to the US government website dedicated to the project, the SPP is neither a treaty nor a formal agreement. Rather, it is a "dialogue" launched by the heads of state of Canada, Mexico, and the United States at a summit in Waco, Texas in March, 2005. What is a "dialogue"? We don't know. What we do know, however, is that Congressional oversight of what might be one of the most significant developments in recent history is non-existent. Congress has had no role at all in a "dialogue" that many see as a plan for a North American union.

Note:  The quote is from fellow Crackpot Lou Rockwell's and his Jewish cohort, Murry Rothbard's web site:

http://www.lewrockwell.com/paul/paul341.html

Dr. Paul published two newsletters: The Ron Paul Political Report and the Ron Paul Survival Report. I have linked PDFs of images from those actual newsletters from the 1980s and 1990s. In the letters, Paul accuses US troops of war crimes in Deser...t Storm, accuses US troops of war crimes in Somalia, implied Pres. Reagan was closely tied to communist Armand Hammer in some sinister conspiracy, maintained that the US and Great Britain should not have gotten involved in the effort against Nazi Germany, accused Sen. Jesse Helms of essentially taking bribes to support Israel, and launched a tirade against Rep. Jack Kemp and Sen. Bob Dole for authoring legislation to close a PLO office in Wash DC (the PLO was a terrorist organization)...

"Right now it's an anybody-but-Romney primary. If Ron Paul wins Iowa, it will become anybody-but-Ron Paul going forward."

"Ron is accusing the speaker of being a hypocrite, I mean that's how he ends this last ad. Well look, when I was in Congress with Ron, he used to put in, he would put in hundreds of millions of dollars of appropriations requests, earmarks. And then he would sit on the floor and he would wait until the vote was certain that his earmarks would be funded and then he would put his card in the slot and vote No. So that he could then say with purity, 'I don't vote for earmarks.'"

"He doesn't complete the deal. He'd vote against his own earmarks, knowing that they were going to pass, so he could then have his cake and eat it too. And you know what, I don't think that that's a totally honest way of dealing with your fellow colleagues on that. If you truly are against the earmarks, then you don't put them in and you don't request them." In a way, he was for the earmarks but he was against the earmarks, if you know what I mean. I think that is kind of a hypocritical position to take. So I think people ought to be a little careful when they live in glass houses on this."

Crazy Uncle Ron

Some very astute observations by Former Iowa Congressman Greg Ganske on crazy Uncle Ron:

And you know what, I don't think that that's a totally honest way of dealing with your fellow colleagues on that. Re: The canidate the Republicans don't want you know about

America has always led in expanding freedom and democracy across the
world. I believe that we need a foreign policy that is firmly rooted
in this proud tradition. We need a President who is free to lead our
friends and allies with clear conviction and unparalled strength.
America cannot, and should not, be the world's policemen. However, I
am committed to assisting countries who choose freedom to become
stronger. - Buddy Roemer

A note from Canada

This fellow is a columnist here in Canada. He is a commentator and senior editor with the Sun newspaper chain. The nice Canadian one, not the sleazy Brit one....LOL.

He comments on Political and financial issues with a bit of a speciality in the climate change issue.

So I hope you won't see this as meddling. Just that I know most American's never read newspapers or see media from outside their own country.

So it might be interesting to you to see what us outsiders are thinking. And why we are worried.

Bear

**JP** American Withdrawal from Iraq

Islam isn't trying to
influence Western Society, and has no design to influence or change
Western
Culture.

sure they are ... and they have the freedom to do so

but they can't be allowed to effectively change our laws or foreign
policy ... the same thing goes for judaism and xianity

Re: First Amendment Under Attack: 18 Examples of How They Are Coming for Our Free Speech

Lou Rockwell is a Moonbat
---
yet featured here quite often by conservatives ... though he was at
least one of the main day to day overseers of the publication that Ron
Paul has been vilified for

In 2008, the libertarian magazine Reason reacted to the Kirchick story
by trying to figure out whether Paul in fact wrote the newsletters --
or if he didn't write them, who was directly responsible. Two
journalists, Dave Weigel and Julian Sanchez, were assigned to the
story.

Here's what they found:

In interviews with reason, a half-dozen longtime libertarian
activists--including some still close to Paul--all named the same man
as Paul's chief ghostwriter: Ludwig von Mises Institute founder
Llewellyn Rockwell, Jr. Financial records from 1985 and 2001 show that
Rockwell, Paul's congressional chief of staff from 1978 to 1982, was a
vice president of Ron Paul & Associates, the corporation that
published the Ron Paul Political Report and the Ron Paul Survival
Report. The company was dissolved in 2001. During the period when the
most incendiary items appeared--roughly 1989 to 1994--Rockwell and the
prominent libertarian theorist Murray Rothbard championed an open
strategy of exploiting racial and class resentment to build a
coalition with populist "paleoconservatives," producing a flurry of
articles and manifestos whose racially charged talking points and
vocabulary mirrored the controversial Paul newsletters recently
unearthed.
