Apr 27, 12 On Monday, April 23, an 18-year-old Ogden resident on a
community panel spoke about the dangers of bullying. Alex Smith told
the packed room about the bullying his boyfriend, Jack, experienced at
school.

What no one in the room yet knew, including Alex, was that Jack had
already taken his own life.

The death of Jack Reese is the latest known suicide of a gay teen in
Northern Utah.

One official told Ogden OUTreach director Marian Edmonds, off the
record: "It happens here about once a week, but officially, you know,
it doesn't happen here."

OUTreach is hosting a community panel and discussion, A Community
Stands up – Northern Utah Addresses LGBT Bullying and Suicide on May
1, 6:30 p.m., at the Ogden Amphitheater, 343 E. 25th St., Ogden. The
purpose of the event is for the community to stand in solidarity with
queer youth, to speak out and express grief and outrage at yet another
loss of life in Northern Utah, and to witness for the need for
immediate change in schools, churches and society.

Until all youth are loved and accepted in their homes, able to attend
school without fear of bullying, and know that their lives are worth
living, this community will continue to demand change, Edmonds said in
a press release.

Numerous community leaders, educators, parents and youth will speak
out for acceptance and love for LGBT youth, including active members
of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A candlelight
vigil in memory of Jack Reese will be held at the conclusion of the
event.

"The youth I work with all know either a victim of bullying, the loss
of a friend to suicide, and most often, both. These youth are bright,
creative and loving, yet too often face daily abuse from rejecting
families, bullies at school and the loss of their church family. It is
time for local schools to incorporate proven techniques for
eliminating bullying and homophobia, for churches to preach love and
acceptance, and for parents and families to love and accept their
children. Each loss of life is a loss for all of us, and it must stop
now," Edmonds said.

Edmonds underscored the need for accurate education and guidance for
ethnically and religiously diverse families and cited the work of the
Family Acceptance Project at San Francisco State University – a
research-based education, support and policy initiative that helps
ethnically and religiously diverse families – including Latter-day
Saint families – support their LGBT children in families, schools and
faith communities to prevent suicide, substance abuse, HIV,
homelessness, school victimization and family disruption. FAP uses a
culturally grounded approach that strengthens families and promotes
their LGBT children's well-being. FAP's family education materials are
available online in three languages at

Re: George Zimmerman is part Black

Lil' Marxist Moonbat,

Once again,  seek some help for your addictions and try and pay attention for as long as you can.  I understand that this is a difficult chore for you.

First off,  as you have often posted here,  being the one here in the Group who promotes hatred and intolerance,  your claim that George Zimmerman,  to use your words, the, "White Hispanic",  who purportedly caused this racial divide in our Nation by shooting an unarmed black child, who  allegedly was nonchalantly  passing on his way, turned out to be not quite so clear cut.   The point being, is that you and the hate filled far left extremists who have portrayed Zimmerman as a white racist is a false claim, and another one of your lies.

Utah Community Responds to Latest Gay Teen Suicide of Jack Reese

Community Responds to Latest Gay Teen Suicide

Community Responds to Latest Gay Teen Suicide
Underscores Urgent Need for Education, Safe Schools & Family Support

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(April 26, 2012, Ogden, Utah) On Monday, April 23, 18-year-old Alex
Smith spoke on a community panel at a screening of "Bullied," telling
the packed room about the bullying his boyfriend, Jack, experienced at
school. What no one in the room yet knew, including Alex, was that
Jack had already taken his own life.

The death of Jack Reese is the latest known suicide of a gay teen in
Northern Utah. One official says, off the record: "It happens here
about once a week," but then quickly adds, "but officially, you know,
it doesn't happen here."

OUTreach is hosting a community response: "A Community Stands up -
Northern Utah Addresses LGBT Bullying and Suicide." It will take place
May 1st, 6:30 pm at the Ogden Amphitheater, 343 E 25th ST, Ogden, UT.
The purpose of the event is for the community to stand in solidarity
with (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) LGBT youth, to speak out
and express grief and outrage at yet another loss of life in Northern
Utah and to witness for the need for immediate change in schools,
churches and society. Until ALL youth are loved and accepted in their
homes, able to attend school without fear of bullying, and know that
their lives are worth living, this community will continue to demand
change.

Numerous community leaders, educators, parents and youth will speak
out for acceptance and love for LGBT youth, including active members
of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. At the request of
Alex Smith, a candlelight vigil in memory of Jack Reese will be held
at the conclusion of the event.

OUTreach Executive Director Marian Edmonds notes: "The youth I work
with all know either a victim of bullying, the loss of a friend to
suicide, and most often, both. These youth are bright, creative, and
loving, yet too often face daily abuse from rejecting families,
bullies at school and the loss of their church family. It is time for
local schools to incorporate proven techniques for eliminating
bullying and homophobia, for churches to preach love and acceptance,
and for parents and families to love and accept their children. Each
loss of life is a loss for all of us, and it must stop now."

Edmonds underscored the need for accurate education and guidance for
ethnically and religiously diverse families and cited the work of the
Family Acceptance Project (FAP) at SF State University – a
research-based education, support and policy initiative that helps
ethnically and religiously diverse families – including Latter-day
Saint families – support their LGBT children in families, schools and
faith communities to prevent suicide, substance abuse, HIV,
homelessness, school victimization and family disruption. FAP uses a
culturally grounded approach that strengthens families and promotes
their LGBT children's well-being. FAP's family education materials are

Holy Islamville: a Muslim village in South Carolina

New post on Creeping Sharia

Holy Islamville: a Muslim village in South Carolina

by creeping

Founded by a militant Muslim. Holy Islamville is a Muslim village in South Carolina, established by His Eminence, El-Sheikh Syed Mubarik Ali Shah Gilani, in 1983 as Islamville, SC. Upon the event of miraculous manifestations (Karamaat) of Allah Ta'ala, the Baitun-Noor Holy Khanqah (the very first Islamic shrine in America) was erected and the village [...]

Join Senator Russ Feingold: Let's end Citizens United together

Let's end Citizens United together

From Senator Russ Feingold

We've seen an explosion of big money in our political process, since
the Supreme Court's Citizens United decision two years ago. That
decision gave corporations and the super rich a green light to spend
unlimited amounts of money to try and buy our democracy. It's
outrageous.

We've fought back before, and we have to fight back again. While in
the Senate, I helped bridge the political divide in Washington to end
"soft money," a process that allowed corporations and big money to try
to corrupt our political process with unlimited contributions to the
parties. I partnered with Sen. John McCain, and together, with the
McCain-Feingold law, we closed the door to these corrupt practices.

Unfortunately, with the Citizens United decision, the Supreme Court
gutted 100 years of settled law underlying our reforms. But now we
have an opportunity to change that reckless decision.

Will you join me and Montana Attorney General Steve Bullock on
Tuesday, May 1 for a DFA Live where you'll get the inside scoop on
what we can do -- together -- to overturn Citizens United and stand up
for common sense campaign finance laws?

Steve and I, along with folks all across the country, understand that
big money and Super PACs have no place in politics. We simply cannot
allow unlimited corporate spending to taint our political process any
longer. It's against the very nature of democracy.

Join me Tuesday, May 1 to take our country back -- and end the
corrupting influence of big business on our political process.

Tommy, the road to overturn Citizens United may be long, but with
enough of us working together, we will send a clear message that we
the people do have a voice. Besides, that's what democracy is all
about.

Join me.

- Russ

Letter From James Carville to Ol' Karl Rove

From James Carville DSCC

Ol' Karl

Guess what I just wrote into my calendar for May 1: "Send a letter to
Karl Rove."

I've already written it. It goes like this.

Dear Karl,

I saw you poured $1.2 million into mudslinging TV ads in five
battleground states. Bad news, though: My side's grassroots supporters
just matched you, dollar for dollar. So if you thought you were gonna
buy yourself the White House and Senate with all that money, tough
biscuits.

Sorry about you wasting all that cash. Maybe just go to Vegas next time?

Love,
James

Of course, before I can send that letter, it has to be true – and
that's where you come in.

Let's match Karl's $1.2 million before May 1. Democratic Senators will
even match your contribution so it'll count double. But you gotta act
fast – like now. So click here to give $5 or more.

https://dscc.org/give2?donate_page_KEY=14598&amount=x

How much fun would it be if, in between opening up those big checks
from his Big Oil and Wall Street pals, Karl got that note? More
importantly, how huge would it be if folks like you matched his ad buy
and stopped him from taking the four seats Republicans need to run the
Senate?

After all, Rove and his pals aren't spending all this money just to
get the frequent flier miles. They're trying to buy the White House
and the Senate so they can end Medicare as we know it, turn back the
clock on women's rights, and throw the middle class under the bus.

Their agenda stinks – but your grassroots support can fight it. And if
you can match Karl's ad buy, we can neutralize the special interests
and protect President Obama and our majority.

That's why I need you to make a contribution of $5 or more to help the
DSCC match Karl Rove's $1.2 million ad buy before May 1. Remember,
give today and your contribution will count for double.

I'm a man of simple pleasures: spicy food, college football, and maybe
a nice cigar now and then. But nothing compares to tweaking ol' Karl.

So help me send a message straight to his underground lair. Heck, I'll
even spring for the stamp. All I need from you is a contribution of
$5 or more so we can match this $1.2 million ad buy and keep our
Democrats on offense.

Thanks for helping me take on Karl Rove. Can't wait for May 1.

James

On Presidential Nominations

On Presidential Nominations
Posted by Butler Shaffer on April 26, 2012 04:45 PM

For most Democrats in 2008, the choice for their party's candidate was governed by the thought "anybody but Bush."  For most Republicans in 2012, the choice comes down to "anybody but Ron Paul."  Most members of the GOP reflect the continuing collapse of the American culture by limiting their preferences for the White House to an ever-changing list of third-rate losers. The under-40 aged crowd is an encouraging exception; one that will likely relegate the McCains, Giulianis, Santorums, Gingriches, and other DC trough-feeders, to the footnotes of  unread books.

FidoGate: Obama Would Have To Hunt For Dog Meat In Jakarta

Barack Obama speech 14 SC 300x201 FidoGate:Obama Would Have to Hunt for Dog Meat in Jakarta

FidoGate has just gone international. Already the Left is defending Obama for eating dog meat on the grounds that his stepfather–who was Indonesian–wanted to share his culture and customs with him. But there's just one problem with this: it wasn't his culture or custom.

In fact, in Jakarta, where the Obamas lived with their Indonesian stepfather, Lolo Soetoro, dog meat is illegal. In the majority Muslim Indonesia, eating dog is forbidden among most ethnic groups in the islands, though a small, black market is said to exist for those looking for it. The only exception are the Batak people, principally of Northern Sumatra who eat it on holidays–but Obama's stepfather, who was raised in West Java, isn't a part of that ethnic group. Besides, the Obamas lived hundreds of miles and several islands away.

A diplomatic source close to the Indonesian delegation in the U.S. confirms that while dog is sometimes eaten in Indonesia, it is done so very rarely. "Obama had to go hunting for dog meat," the source, who didn't want to be identified, told me.

"I don't know of anyone who eats it and frankly, I'm a little offended you would ask."

Breitbart.com scoured Indonesian cook books. Not one mentions ways to prepare dog.

Still, the bit in Dreams from My Father where Obama says that a man can take on the powers of whatever he ate is a traditional animist belief among some tribesmen in Indonesia.

But the question remains: having confessed eating dog, grasshopper, and snake, which one's powers did Obama pick up?
