Re: Ronald Reagan: An Autopsy

Reagan's Phony Revolution
Posted by Lew Rockwell on February 5, 2011 11:20 AM

Writes David Stockman:

Thanks for reprinting Murray Rothbard's classic take-down of the "Reagan Revolution." With the passage of time, the mythology only gets amplifiedso people need to be reminded about the truth. I took a modest crack at this in the attached interview in which I reminded readers that the Reagan Revolution was a Lincoln Day Dinner speech! It never actually happened in the real world of fiscal policy. And as you might recall,  program after program was saved by stalwart conservatives like Jesse Helms, Ed Meese, etc.

Unemployment Rate Drops to 9% (if you believe it) but 504,000 drop out of the labor force

Unemployment Rate Drops to 9% (if you believe it) but 504,000 drop out of the labor force

The unemployment number drops and some folk clap like seals. Then we learn that the economy only added 36,000 jobs and folks can see we are in for a very long recession. Then add the fact that 504,000 workers dropped out of the labor force and you can clearly see, the unemployment number is higher than 9%...unless you believe in Obamanomics.

The Washington Post spins:

Job creation came nearly to a halt in January, yet the unemployment rate plummeted to 9 percent, according to a new report that gives a muddled picture of the state of the labor market.

Job creation was zilch, yet some how the unemployment rate drops. Hmmm!

Employers added 36,000 jobs last month, the Labor Department said Friday, far fewer than the 145,000 economists had forecast and the weakest month of job creation since September. The surprisingly low numbers suggested that last month's snowstorms probably kept people from looking for work.

Oh, the snowstorm spin again. It could also mean that those same numbers didn't file for unemployment due to the snowstorm, but to report that would go against the liberal media's narrative.

The unemployment rate fell to 9 percent from 9.4 percent, the second straight month of steep decrease, as the number of people describing themselves as employed rose by 589,000. The jobless rate was 9.8 percent in November, and economists believed it would take until the end of this year to decline to 9 percent. Instead, it reached that level the first month of the year.

When did 0.4% become a 'steep decrease?'

Ed Morrissey has a better look at the job numbers that just don't add up:

"Zero Hedge notes that the U-6 number went from 16.6% to 17.3%.  He also catches something I missed — the civilian labor force dropped from 153,690,000 in December to 153,186,000 in January after a recent November peak of 153,950,000.  That was a drop of 504,000 in January from December, and 764,000 in two months.  The participation rate dropped from 64.5% in November to 64.3% in December and 64.2% in January."

We also have to remember that the numbers were revised in December due to snow as well. The number of unemployed was revised up.

T.S.A. Chief will allow T.S.A. Security Officers to Unionize

[[  Please allow three weeks to get through security on your next flight. ]]

T.S.A. Chief will allow T.S.A. Security Officers to Unionize

Does anyone remember what the unions did during the snowstorm in New York? Imagine this at a busy airport. Ineptness from union goons who are now inept T.S.A. security officers. Obama is nodding his head in approval as the unions make out more checks for his 2012 presidential campaign.

WASHINGTON — Seeking to end a debate that has brewed for nearly a decade, the director of the Transportation Security Administration announced on Friday that a union would be allowed to bargain over working conditions on behalf of the nation's 45,000 airport security officers, although certain issues like pay will not be subject to negotiation.

The question of whether unions can negotiate on behalf of airport security workers has been a repeated topic of partisan debate on Capitol Hill, at times threatening to hold up major pieces of legislation or even the Senate confirmation of the agency's director.

John S. Pistole, the former deputy director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation who has served as head of the transportation agency since last June, announced Friday that he would used the power granted to him by Congress to authorize collective bargaining by airport security personnel on a limited set of topics, including rules governing who gets priorities for vacation time and shift assignments, how workplace transfers take place and how employees are recognized for commendable work. The negotiations will take place on a national level, not with state or local union affiliates.

The nation's security officers are tentatively scheduled to vote in early March for one of two unions that have competed for the right to represent them, or not to have a union at all. But if they choose a union, they will not be able to turn to it to bargain on their behalf for such traditionally negotiated topics as pay, retirement benefits, job qualification rules, disciplinary standards or issues related to security procedures, like what security equipment they must use or when and where they are deployed.

This would allow the agency — a division of the Department of Homeland Security — to rapidly reassign security officers in response to a particular threat or to change security procedures or equipment without having to consult collective bargaining rules, an agency official said.

The security officers are also not allowed to strike or have any work-related slowdowns as a form of union demonstration. There will be set limits on how long negotiations on topics subject to union bargaining can drag on. And the officers will not be required to join a union or pay dues.

The Very Best of Islamic Fundamentalist Erotica, Vol. 1

Muslim Bride Sexy Eyes Pics The Very Best of Islamic Fundamentalist Erotica, Vol. 1

Hello, and welcome to The Very Best of Islamic Fundamentalist Erotica, Vol. 1. Today I'm going to share with you a loin invigorating tale of sexual passion from the vast collection of erotica written by the finest sexually repressed minds of the Islamic faith's more traditional, back-to-basics followers. Moderate Islamics or devil worshiping American heathen pigs need not apply.

Today's tale is titled Ankles of Desire.

Ankles of Desire

Abdullah wandered in to a small Islamabad café to escape the blistering Arabian sun. He ordered a tea, but only so we wouldn't get kicked out for loitering. Besides, his sheep's bladder held more than enough water to keep his thirst quenched for the rest of the day.

He sat, occasionally wiping the sweat from his brow, and taking deep breaths, as if he were trying to release the heat from his lungs like a steam valve. It was hot. Steamy. Valve-y.

Off in the periphery of his vision was a black figure. He turned to get a better look. Standing at a market was a vision of burka-clad desire. This vision was a woman, and she stood at a street vendor's shop covered head to toe in her oppressive garb, leaving only her dark, sultry eyes exposed to the world.

And what sultry eyes they were.

In them, even from a distance, Abdullah saw the wild, unrestrained passion of a woman yearning to be held in the grasp of a strong, dominate male authority figure. The sweat beads, which had just started to recced, came flooding back as his mind raced with impure thoughts – thoughts of a passion forbidden by society.

He looked over her body, watching closely as the burka did nothing to highlight her natural curves; draping them in such a way that it left nothing for the eyes to see…but everything for the mind's eye to imagine.

His eyes continued to wander, this time down to her legs, or what was probably legs, because he couldn't see them with all that burka hanging everywhere.

Suddenly, his eyes sprung wide open. The sweat beads on his forehead collected and turned in to a torrent of salty anticipation, soaking through his turban. "What's this?!" Abdullah thought to himself. "An ankle?!"

And so it was. Peeking out just beyond the lower areas of the burka's reach was a sandy patch of flesh. The boney contours of the ankle drove Abdullah wild with ecstasy; its shapely ridges and sharp points all seemed to be crying out to him, beckoning him to break free from the repressive shackles of society, and cave in to his most base sexual impulses. He was driven mad — wildly mad — by this display of raw, unbridled sexual ferocity. His mind became a theater of the sexual absurd, as he wondered what else could be hiding beneath that tantalizing black cloth. Was there also a lustful knee hidden within? Perhaps a sensuous calf was longing to expose itself to his eyes?

His imagination overflowed with thoughts of passion and love, love and passion! In just mere moments he had gone from a man burning in the scorching rays of the sun, to a man burning in the scorching rays of desire.

His mind could not handle the teasing any longer. He needed to do something. He needed to show this faceless, nameless woman just what her maddening flesh parade had done to his mind; to his very soul!

So he had her arrested and stoned to death in the town square.

Fin.

New York City Council Bans Smoking In Parks, Beaches, Times Square

New York City Council Bans Smoking In Parks, Beaches, Times Square
http://www.sify.com/news/new-york-city-council-bans-smoking-in-parks-beaches-times-square-news-international-lcdq4ecihgj.html

The New York City Council has approved to extend the city's smoking ban to municipal parks and beaches.

The ban was approved by a vote of 36-12, and will take effect three months after New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg signs it.

It will make it an offence to light up in any of the city's 1,700 parks and along 23kms of public beaches plus boardwalks, marinas and pedestrian plazas, including Times Square.

"This summer, New Yorkers who go to our parks and beaches for some fresh air and fun will be able to breathe even cleaner air and sit on a beach not littered with cigarette butts," the BBC quoted Bloomberg, as saying.

Smoking was banned in New York's bars and restaurants in 2002.

Many smokers say that the law will infringe on their rights. (ANI)

Property Codes Violation Of Rights

Property Codes Violation Of Rights
By Kent McManigal
Thursday, Feb 3 2011

One man’s blight is another man’s freedom. Liberty is sometimes messy, but it is still preferable to, and the ethical opposite of, “neat and orderly” socialism.

A big aspect of socialism is placing the supposed benefit to society above the inalienable rights of the individual. This means that all socialism has the myth of “the common good” or “the general welfare” at its heart, and nothing but socialism can come from this myth. Socialism is wrong, even when you approve of it, can come up with reasonable-sounding justifications for it, and even if you benefit from it.

One of the first casualties of socialism is the right to use your private property as you see fit.

I oppose, without reservation, all calls for “property codes” to be used as a tool against “blight.” That’s socialist-speak for “violating your property rights on behalf of the majority using the threat of force.”

I understand that some people get offended when a neighbor has an unkempt lawn or a junky car in their yard. Yet, what another person does with their own property, even to the point of destroying it, is no one else’s business as long as no one else or their property is being harmed — and being offended doesn’t qualify as harm. Otherwise their property is none of your business.

If a neighbor’s junk is winding up on your property, because of breezy conditions or intentional tossing, or if it is causing you harm through attracted vermin or mosquito breeding, you have the right to take action to solve that particular problem or seek restitution. If there is a credible danger that a person’s junk may catch fire and endanger your property you have the right to seek arbitration and to hold the other property owner accountable in case of damage. Reality indicates that lack of “blight” is no guarantee that no harm will ever come from a neighbor’s property.

In a free society, where firefighting would be a true free market enterprise, firefighting companies could refuse to contract with those whose property was an unreasonable fire risk, or could charge higher rates to offset the higher risk. In a government monopoly, as long as the taxation is being paid, the fire department can not discriminate. This encourages irresponsible behavior, which is then discouraged through property rights-violating “laws.” It’s an unhealthy system.

I realize many people are concerned that a neighbor’s property could impact the value of their own property. If this is a concern, you have the right to live in a neighborhood in which all the residents have voluntarily, and UNANIMOUSLY, agreed to certain conditions and restrictions. You and your other neighbors do not have the right to impose these restrictions on a neighbor who doesn’t agree to them.

I don’t like "blight" any more than anyone else, but I repudiate this violation of rights. Don’t enforce the "codes" against my neighbors on my behalf.

Podcast interview re the psychology of distraction w/ Maggie Jackson

Posted this morning at Electric Politics, a podcast interview with
journalist and author Maggie Jackson, whose most recent book is
titled, Distracted: The Erosion of Attention and the Coming Dark Age.

It's never easy to just stop and think. And we tend to organize our
lives in such a way that paying sustained attention to something --
anything -- becomes even more difficult. Modern technology, of course,
makes the situation worse still. Maybe we'll have a new Dark Age,
maybe we won't, but the overall point about damage done is well taken.
And, it turns out, we can learn how to not be distracted.

It's probably also useful to be aware of how distracted those around
us have become, and what some of the consequences may be.

If you like this podcast please don't hesitate to forward the link.

I see, you specifically blame Bush, but accidentally neglected to
mention Obama having done the same thing.

Re: Good News! Wall Street bonuses up 5.7% - $135 billion

When you are talking about the $700 billion bailout and how was it
distributed. Think of the Stimulus plan. The problem with stimulus
plan, other than it would not have been necessary if the congress had
spent some of the time wasted on HCR in making it worth while for
businesses to expand in a stable financial and economic plan, was the
distribution of the bucks. Zero handed it out hand over fist to his
buddies and not on initiatives that would actually create jobs. How was
the bailout handed out and what resulted. Why was Zero then immediately
looking for more bucks to hand out and where did he hand it out to.

How to Make the TSA Even Worse

How to Make the TSA Even Worse
February 4, 2011 by Jeffrey Tucker

The employees of the TSA can now be unionized. Public sector unions are a remarkable survivor of day's of old, which is interesting since the theory of unions is that workers need organized protection against private capital. It happens, however, that unions are most successfully organized from among those living off the taxpayer, and least successful among those workforces that are subject to market discipline. In 2009, the number of union members in the public sector outnumbered those in the private sector for the first time.

They show that on TV around the tri-state area every year...
personally speaking, it's just another stupid tradition based on
superstition.

Re: The White House Jihadist, Obama, Stands by Muslim Brotherhood Endorsement

Tommy,

Why don't you just google "homosexuality islam" and begin reading.
Simply saying Mark and Keith are wrong does not make it so. Here are a
couple of excerpts;

** From Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/
LGBT_topics_and_Islam) **

Given the vagueness of the Qur'an regarding the punishment of liwat,
Islamic jurists have turned to the collections of the hadith (sayings
of Muhammad) and akhbar (accounts of his life). These, on the other
hand, are perfectly clear and particularly harsh.[11]

Ibn al-Jawzi[disambiguation needed] records Muhammad as cursing
sodomites in several hadith, and recommending the death penalty for
both the active and passive partners in same-sex acts.[12]

Sunan al-Tirmidhi, again reports Muhammad as having prescribed the
death penalty for both the active and the passive partner: "Whoever
you find committing the sin of the people of Lut, kill them, both the
one who does it and the one to whom it is done."[1] The overall moral
or theological principle is that a person who performs such actions
(luti) challenges the harmony of God's creation, and is therefore a
revolt against God.

** From ReligionFacts (http://www.religionfacts.com/homosexuality/
islam.htm
) **

Homosexuality Laws in Modern Islamic Countries

Same-sex intercourse carries the death penalty in five officially
Muslim nations: Saudi Arabia, Iran, Mauritania, Sudan, and Yemen. [3]
It formerly carried the death penalty in Afghanistan under the
Taliban, and in Iraq under a 2001 decree by Saddam Hussein. The legal
situation in the United Arab Emirates is unclear. In many Muslim
nations, such as Bahrain, Qatar, Algeria or the Maldives,
homosexuality is punished with jail time, fines or corporal
punishment. In some Muslim-majority nations, such as Turkey, Jordan,
Egypt, or Mali, same-sex intercourse is not forbidden by law. However,
in Egypt gays have been the victims of laws against "morality".

In Saudi Arabia, the maximium punishment for homosexuality is public
execution, but the government will use other punishments, i.e. fines,
jail time and whipping as alternatives, unless it feels that
homosexuals are challenging state authority by engaging in a gay
rights movement. [4] Iran is perhaps the nation to execute the largest
number of its citizens for homosexuality. Since its Islamic revolution
in Iran, the Iranian government has executed more than 4000 people
charged with homosexual acts. In Afghanistan after the fall of the
Taliban homosexuality went from a capital crime to one that it
punished with fines and prison sentence, and a similar situation seems
to have occurred in Iraq.

Most international human rights organizations, such as Human Rights
Watch and Amnesty International, condemn laws that make homosexual
relations between consenting adults a crime. Since 1994 the United
Nations Human Rights Committee has also ruled that such laws violated
the right to privacy guaranteed in the Universal Declaration of Human
Rights and the International Covent on Civil and Political Rights.
However (except for nations such as Turkey that were required to
change their laws to be eligible to join the European Union) most
Muslim nations insist that such laws are neccesary to preserve Islamic
morality and virtue. Of the nations with a majority of Muslim, only
Lebanon has an internal effort to legalize homosexuality. However,
some Muslims have expressed criticism of the legal sanctions used
against homosexuality.

The Arrogance of Authority

DEA officer stops at a ranch in Texas, and talks with an old rancher. He tells the rancher, "I need to inspect your ranch for illegally grown drugs." The rancher says, "Okay , but don't go in that field over there," as he points out the location.

The DEA officer verbally explodes saying, " Mister,  I have the authority of the Federal Government with me."  Reaching into his rear pants pocket, he removes his badge and proudly displays it to the rancher.  "See this badge?  This badge means I am allowed to go wherever I wish.... On any land.  No questions asked or answers given.  Have I made myself clear?  Do you understand? "

The rancher nods politely, apologizes, and goes about his chores.

A short time later, the old rancher hears loud screams and sees the DEA officer running for his life chased by the rancher's big Santa Gertrudis bull......

With every step the bull is gaining ground on the officer, and it seems likely that he'll get gored  before he reaches safety.  The officer is clearly terrified. The rancher throws down his tools, runs to the fence and yells at the top of his lungs.....

" Your badge! Show him your BADGE !"
