Dear Geoffrey: Thanks for being one of the more rational thinkers!
The great mistake leading up to this tragedy was the police not
realizing that their getting repeated calls from some self-appointed
vigilante was actually someone "impersonating a police officer"—not by
badge, uniform, or vehicle, but by a warped desire to have unjustified
control over others. Instead of just telling him to stand down, they
should have told him that if he did anything else regarding the
"hoodie wearer", that he kept reporting about, that ZIMMERMAN would be
guilty of obstructing justice. The police knew he was chasing someone
on foot, without legal authority, because Zimmerman's cell phone
indicated he was panting and out of breath. Chasing someone on foot,
when there is no proof of criminality, is an assault justifying having
Zimmerman be arrested. Why didn't the police tell him that? Justice,
