- It’s now being released that the now-former Attleboro MA police chief was forced to retire in lieu of being fired late last year on allegations that he leaked information about an excessive force investigation against his police officer son to his son in an effort to help him. His son later lost his job as well.
- A Costa Mesa CA police officer has pled guilty to unlawful use of tracking device for hiding a GPS tracker in a woman’s car. Oddly, it appears as though details about his sentence are unclear.
- A Prince George’s County MD police officer who is already facing drug trafficking charges is now facing extortion charges as well for trying to pay off fellow officers to smuggle bootleg goods.
- The police chief of Parowan UT has been charged with two misdemeanors for shooting a dog to death. Officials say he was disciplined but few details are being released about exactly what happened to spur the charges.
- San Luis Obispo CA is being sued by a developmentally disabled man who claims that an off-duty police officer beat him in front of his parents after following him home in an apparent road rage incident. The suit also claims that the department has refused to release investigative reports and other information to the man and the press.
- Three Rehobeth MA police officers are under investigation for alleged misuse of police databases to do background checks on town officials.
- A Middlesex County NJ sheriff’s officer was arrested on allegations he acted as “bagman” for the sheriff who is accused of demanding bribes for jobs.
- A now-former Emmett ID police officer was sentenced to probation for an felony injury to child charge over an incident where a toddler got a hold of her firearm and shot himself, another child, and a woman.
- A New York NY police officer has been sentenced to probation for stealing drugs from suspects and giving those drugs to informants to pay them off.
- An Oklahoma City OK police officer is accused of having someone go to his home and remove evidence then plant exonerating evidence in a molestation case against him. Prosecutors also claim that he was present and threatening his accuser when he made a video recanting his molestation claims.
- Police chiefs in Iowa are expressing concerns about how laws in that state are inconsistent in ways that allow officers who get in trouble for misconduct to jump around between departments because many agencies won’t release records or just fail to perform background checks at all because it’s not required.
- And finally, a Hatboro PA police officer of unspecified rank was suspended indefinitely without pay for unspecified reasons. You know, sure, it could be something minor, but when agencies get secretive about disciplining officers it should make you suspicious.
