Re: Results in Women’s Gymnastics All-around aren’t fair!

Hello John!

Not nearly as well as you did!

I also would point out, that it was I who wrote the  group policy about spelling and grammar here in PF.....It doesn't count!  Nevertheless, when one continuously emphasizes their brilliance, above all mankind,  yet cannot distinguish between "Metal"  and "Medal";  (and we're not talking about a grammatical or spelling error here....Go back and re-read your missive);  I think one has to wonder about those  English test results back in the day at Clemson!  <<Grin>!

Dear Keith: My less than perfect eyesight makes proofing things
difficult.  As an "architectural engineer" metals are spelled "gold,
silver, and bronze."  If one is talking about medalions, the spelling
should be like you note.  There are ten thousand people all over the
world who can spell better than I do.  But none of those has likely
ever done anything aimed at improving all of humanity—which is my
dream.  If correcting grammar is your forte (pronounced FORT!) why
don't you tell Bob Costus, the NBC Olympic commentator, to STOP saying
"THESE Olympics"?  The 'Olympic Games' IS singular, just like a
million dollars IS a lot of money (not ARE a lot of money). "Politics
IS" singular (not are...).  ... and the "dynamics" of the situation,
NOT the dynamic of the situation.  Remember, Keith, on the Graduate
Record exam, given to all Clemson seniors, I scored in the top two of
about 15 architecture students who, as a group, scored higher than the
English Department on English, and higher than the Math Department on
math.  How well did you do?  — J. A. Armistead —
