Re: Truth versus MSNBC (about Ron Paul)

Hello Leroy,

First, I dispute that the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are only over oil.  To prove my point, if this were the case, why didn't we just keep the oil fields that we had taken back in the first Gulf war?  Why didn't we just nationalize the oil fields in Iraq back five or six years ago?  The same logic applies with the Trans-Afghanistan oil pipeline?  That dawg won't hunt....

Having said the above,  there is no question that havng free and unrestricted access to the oil in the Southest Asian region is imperative to our national interests.  it was our techology, our know-how,  our equipment,  our man-power,  our resources and our dollars that found the oil, drilled for the oil,  pumped the oil, and transported the oil to refineries and to market.

Whether you like it, or don't like it, Western civilization is based on hydrocarbons, from the clothes that you wear, to the food that you eat,  to the toilet that you shit upon, not to mention every single source of energy and transportation that you utilize.   Yep,  oil is no question very important, and it is in our national interests to keep those sources of oil viable and flowing.

War,  (to include "police actions"  such as we are involved in Afghanistan and to a lesser degree Iraq)  suck.  War is Hell.  Folks die. Innocent folks. Not so innocent folks. There is collateral damage. There is intended damage.   Nothing pretty, nothing really good coming out of a war.

Other than to protect our national interests.  (See Above).

If we had it all over to do again,  would we choose another course of action?  I don't have the answer to that, but I would think so.  It turned out that Iraq was not as much of a threat as was first suspicioned,  but "We" all believed that Hussein was a threat,  and when I say, "We";  I mean the Saudis,  the Egyptians, the Russians,  all of the European Union, our CIA,  the MI5,  etc., etc., etc.

I will agree that I don't have a clue what we are doing in Afghanistan today.   I don't see a real exit strategy, and I don't know the purpose of what the Hell we are doing there in 2011.

Keith, do you mean that the one we have now is right? Costing us lives
and bankrupting our nation. Their talking about the only way out of
our dilemma  is another world war. Do you think for one minute that
the Global Elite wants Ron Paul's message out? Do you think they want
an open hearing about the Fed and the monetary system out? What was
the deal made with OPEC to accept our dollar for payment for oil and
what has it cost us? I don't care about the money, But the lives is an
other matter. Sorry I don't agree with your assessment.
