Fwd: This is a perfect example of why I don't read Leftist/Socialist publications...

Check out this comment on this op-ed.  Sounds like something that the Dems did in 2008 and this year both.

My suggestion: a no-compromise, brick-wall stand that we will "stay the course" on health care reform, and excoriate the GOP for repealing or defunding any part of it. Tell the press every chance you get that *it is working* now, today, tomorrow, helping individuals an families get higher quality, lower cost health care. "And, it will only get better." Make up stuff to show you are right if necessary (fake it 'til you make it): invite individuals and heads of households to write the President, then come to the White House and tell how health care reform is working for them. Then find some who will do exactly that, one a week for say, six months. Hold the initiative, and never give ground.

Second, say to the people that you got the message about tax cutting, and you now propose the following radical action. Keep the middle class tax cut, don't waiver. Additionally, you propose "biggest tax cut ever in the history of our nation" for small business owners, as the centerpiece of to reduce unemployment immediately. A bill to return money (in the form of tax relief to the state governors to use as they need to return people to work.

Do it, just do it, take the gamble it will work, then *make it work*, any way, real or apparent. That way you don't have to spend anything more (in actuality you will spend more).

Rhetoric alone won't suffice to reverse the tide of public opinion, and leave open the option (which later on you can exercise) to reduce (increase) the program and expenses as needed.

Democrats are smarter, are we not, and marginally more trusted by people to manage the economy? We can also lie at least as well as the GOP I should hope. It's a huge risk to take, but it might work to keep the White House and regain House of Representatives in 2012. Beat the GOP by seizing on their intention to cut and dismember, and spend by means of short term revenue reduction through tax cuts or whatever traditional Republican strategies have been. Don't pay any attention to tea partiers. They will fade in due time if we seize and hold the intitative, without sacrificing a jot of what we worked so hard and long to achieve. No compromise meets no compromise, pick your winner.
