    Let's see - the Harry Reid policy of not allowing more than one amendment on the bill chased the one Republican they had, Susan Collins, away.  That still left some Dems voting against the bill.  Who were they.   Why not mention them since they are the ones who doomed the bill.  The Dems had the 60 they needed if they got all their members to vote for them.  Don't blame the Republicans for this one.

This likely means  the policy will stay in place, and that it could take many more years to repeal the failed Don't Ask Don't Tell policy, which has ruined thousands of lives and careers and could now ruin thousands more after this disappointing vote. Shame on the Senate.

 

Senator John McCain gave a thumbs up on the Senate floor after the vote.
