It is very shocking news for me that our President Asif Ali, Secretary of State Hilary Rodham Clinton and Donors want Pakistan to tax rich to pay for floods. And yet, the elites of Pakistan are barely taxed, tax evasion is endemic in the country, and they still expect the United States to come in and pay for everything said by Hilary Clinton. I added here that please do not include all elites of Pakistan. I think above statement is totally wrong because Government of Pakistan never take a serious step to broaden tax net and never reduce his lavish expenses. As electronics media report one of our National Assembly member minimum spend Rs. 30Million per month. "Pakistan should mobilise its own resources for flood relief by broadening the tax net, said by US Ambassador to Pakistan Anne W Patterson". But the point is that our Government gets the more tax from the existing tax payers who already pay taxes an injustice. As per my knowledge Pakistan has one of the lowest effective tax rates in the world, equal to about 9 percent of the value of the country's economy. One of the reasons Pakistan's rate is so low is because many people avoid paying taxes. Fewer than 2 percent of the country's 175 million citizens pay any income tax. Also, some sectors of the economy like agriculture and landlords a major money maker for the elite are totally exempt from tax, and the rich have pushed to keep it that way. As per above figure please tell me how can we survivor and how long without broaden our tax net system. If our government not takes serious step on emergency basis otherwise we are no more on world map. Allah Bless our country.
