Re: The tax system explained in beer…

Hello Paresh,

Maybe I can clear up some of your confusion.

Of course, we are generalizing here, but let's review income taxes for individuals:

This year, (2012)  the highest tax bracket for the United States federal government is 35%:

If you live in any State other than Texas, Florida, Tennessee,  Nevada,  Alaska, South Dakota, and now New Hampshire, Wyoming, Washington and.....(Whoopsie!  It's just those nine states that don't have a State income tax!) which do have a State income tax,  your tax for example, in Virginia would be 41%.   In  North Carolina,  as well as Vermont,  Kansas,  and a host of  other states, an individuals' combined income tax comes out to approximately 59%.  In California,  New York and In New Jersey, it would exceed 79%:

but I digress:

Let's now address your second issue, that "the richest man"  paid his taxes by "cosily sitting in a plush office with a computer in front of him and manipulating the system. He has hot line with bankers, share brokers, policy makers, Congressmen, big tycoons".

So......Does this mean that the casual worker who has the very stress free job of planting shrubs and getting a free suntan, or the guy who works thirty minutes stocking shelves at 7/11 Convenience Store but gets paid for eight hours;  should he also be paying a 79% tax rate?  How about the fat gal who collects the tolls at the toll booth, who sits on her ass all day while talking on the cell phone? Should she too be taxed at a higher rate, because she can chit-chat with her hairdresser and dietitian?   I mean,  she is sitting "cosily" too! The carbon footprint that these broads take up is immeasurable!

How many jobs do you think that beast of burden who is slinging hash at the Waffle House has created,  versus the guy who is "cosily sitting in his plush office"  has created?

Right now Paresh,  I am sure you look like the proverbial deer in the headlights......So I ask you to, "Think Think"!

There is a fallacy in the example. How does one conclude that the
richest one is paying $ 59. You have pre supposed that the taxes are
as high as $ 59 and that is not supported by any fact. Unless you can
show and prove that this is so, whole story goes flop.

Secondly, try to find out how did the richest man made money that he
is paying a higher tax. Is he a working in mines or on a ship or in a
farm or a supervisor in a factory? No he is cosily sitting in a plush
office with a computer in front of him and manipulating the system. He
has hot line with bankers, share brokers, policy makers, Congressmen,
big tycoons. It is difficult to find out how much of $ 59 he paid for
beer came from taxes paid by fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth
to the government.

Think, think.
