As you are aware , security threat in the country is very high for quite some time. But situation in Karachi has few more frightening elements in addition to the terrorism- threats which the entire country is facing these days.  The increasing incidents of kidnapping and killings in the city have reached a dreadful proportion.  As evident from the chart pasted below, prepared by a reliable source, you can gauge  the intensity of the threat of killing these days. The chart shows people killed or injured  in Karachi from February 2011 to 2^nd week of April this year.  

 

 

       

 

You are, therefore, reminded  to exercise caution and;

·         Avoid large gatherings & crowded places

·         Do not go out unnecessarily

·         Do not leave your family inside the parked car. Take them along.

·         Female should not wear jewelry while travelling

·         Do not keep your mobile visible while you are driving your car

·         Do not read newspaper or a book if you are riding a chauffeur-driven car. Rather constantly review your surroundings and remain  alert

·          Keep the doors and windows of your car locked & closed.

·         Keep all emergency numbers & close contacts on your mobile phone

·         Drive your car in middle lane wherever it is possible.

·         Be particularly alert when your car stopped at red signal or caught in a crowded place.

·         If your car is heading towards a traffic jam, first & foremost you should avoid that jam. But in case it is unavoidable keep a space for opening sufficient to open the  door. Also  disengage seat belt immediately so that there should be no hindrance if  you  have to vacate the car in case of an eventuality.

·         Avoid dark and deserted lanes &  streets
