**JP** Devolution of HEC to provinces to devalue the degrees: Dr Atta

ISLAMABAD: Former Chairman Higher Education Commission(HEC) Dr. Atta-ur-Rehman said that devolution of HEC to the provinces would devalue the value of degrees.

Government should start think over the dissolution of HEC's structure and over the freezing aids of World Bank and USAID.

Talking to a local TV, Former Chairman Higher Education Commission(HEC) Dr. Atta-ur-Rehman expressed that HEC was having meetings with World Bank and USAID about their funding and assistance in different departments for the past two years that which departments are to be funded. But if Government thinks of demolishing entire structure of HEC then World Bank and USAID would think over freezing their aids.

Central Organizations play important in running the universities as it is being done in developed and undeveloped countries like Britain, Malaysia, Turkey and Japan, he added. India also has Central University Grants Commission which funds and controls all universities of the country, he said.
