This is not about insulting Islam or supporting any religion at all. It is about standing up for free speech and not being cowed by radicals who believe their religious beliefs are chains on the rest of the world…Free speech means freedom from threats of violence. In March 2011, individuals standing up for their freedom of speech announced that 20 May 2011 would be the 2nd Annual "Draw Mohammad Day" [DMD2]. The event creators advised that the DMD2 will take place "everywhere around the world" through Facebook and YouTube, as well having its own website which has been funded by several anonymous donors so "no-one can pull the plug".
As of 27 April 2011, the Facebook page for DMD2 shows that more than 3,100 plan on participating in the online event. The creator of the Facebook page has also created a YouTube channel to help promote DMD2 and at least two trailers have been sent out to promote the event. One of the trailers for the event entitled "DMD2: This Time It's Armageddon!" has been viewed over 150,000 times and the YouTube video statistics show that it is most popular in the U.S., Canada, U.K. Australia and Sweden.
