RE: OT: Anyone here fluent in French?

The translator is available for download for all versions of Office but it proved to be not nearly as good as Tommy.  I’m running Office 2007 because I absolutely refuse to upgrade until Microsoft does something about the way Outlook handles the animated gif and they made no such improvement in Office 2010.

It is extremely difficult, and I have a girl (who is working from her home today) that is assisting us.

I  have several translation programs, one that we bought back six or eight months ago, that does not do as good as Google, but has much better dictionaries, and especially legal dictionaries that are very good.

I discovered a really big, really really big secret with MS Office 2010.  Microsoft now has a pretty damn good translation program that is on line, and is attached to Word and Outlook.  Like I said, this one works I think as good as, if not better than Google's, (which is probably the best free translation program)  and then Yahoo's Babel-Fish.

Between the three,  (e.g.;  the one I bought, Babylon,  Google, and Microsoft, I get by, but it is long, tedious, and a pain in the ass!

OMG!  Good luck Keith!  The whole thing looks like a dog’s dinner to me.  If necessary I could order dinner in French but that is my limit LOL.

Working with a whole lotta translations this week.....I can tell you that (1) you are correct regarding the machine translations and French Quebecois; and (2)  the machine translations are only a guide, and need extensive work, (which is what I am doing at this very moment!  Ugh!!!

Good to see ya CW!!

Do you want to give it a shot Tommy?  I have been advised that the reason machine translations can't cope is because: "It's Quebecois French, not International French."

In French song, the pronunciation is quite different from the spoken word.
For example, the word Chose (Thing) is pronounced shows but it is sung
"show-zuh"
