Re: Young Guns: GOP Misfires

Hey Jonathan,

I agree with much of what you wrote, but I think it is a stretch to compare our system to a Fascist Nation-State.  There is supposed to be stewardship by the federal government, but nothing more.

Herein lies the distinction between the Democrats (who I genuinely believe have been infiltrated by Socialists and Marxists to the point that the Party is broken beyond repair)  and Republicans.  There has continuously been this ongoing battle in our Nation for over two centuries....."Jeffersonians", as opposed to a "Hamiltonians".  "Federalists" as opposed to  the "Anti-Federalists".  "Strict Constructionists" versus the "Implied Powers" advocators of the Constitution;  those who believe in "State's Rights" over a large federal bureauacracy.  It boils down to how much federal government do we want in our lives.

I openly admit that the Republicans lost their way, and there has been little distinction since Ronald Reagan left the White House.   I do believe that this Tea Party Movement might hold Republicans' feet to the fire however, and I am once again encouraged.

Bear in mind, this is a very simplistic look at a very big picture.

FASCISM. n. (sometimes initial capital letter) a governmental system led by a dictator having complete power, forcibly suppressing opposition and criticism, regimenting all industry, commerce, etc., and emphasizing an aggressive nationalism and often racism.

While we don't have a dictator in the traditional sense, we certainly do not have much of a choice in who we are allowed to elect to the #1 position in the land. That choice (Tweedle Dumb or Tweedle Dem) is dictated to us by Big Business interests - Wall Street, Big Pharma, Big Agra, etc. - the true dictators in this country.

Their policies are carried out by the agencies in Washington that regiment industry and commerce. Their policies are forcibly removing our rights on an almost daily basis.

Racism still exists today thanks to the welfare system we have in this country.

That only leaves nationalism left - which is being co-opted by a push for world government.

You liberals are so ignorant you don't see that both Republicans and Democrats are part of the fascist agenda. You're living under fascism right now.
