Re: A message from Lady Gaga to the US Senate Sept 16 2010

Mark, you are absolutely right. You can be gay and in the
military, just don't talk about it. And if you are straight you can
STFU about that as well. Your duties in the military have absolutely
nothing to do with whether you are gay or not and should not even be
brought up in the first place.

What is even more annoying is when you read articles like the major
editorial in today's New York Times that said the military should just
not enforce the DADT law. They are recommending that you just pick and
choose which laws you are to enforce and for the military especially
that is a total no-no. The military is subject to the civilian rules
but operate under their own code of laws as promulgated by congress.
They cannot just decide that today they won't obey the laws that
congress passed. It is totally up to congress to do something about
it. The congress can just change the law and the military will have to
find a way to implement it. In 17 years from when the law was passed by
a Democratic congress and Democratic senate and signed by a Democratic
president the Democrats have hemmed and hawed about it and demanded that
the military stop with the DADT. Why did they not do something about it
then. They have been in control of congress for 4 years and the Senate
for 2 years and the presidency for 2 years. They have also had enough
members of the House and Senate for all 17 years to filibuster the bill
if it was so important to them but evidently it wasn't. Now that they
are in the swamps because of all their other lousy legislation they
decide to do something about it to try to keep the votes of the gays.
That is the only reason they are even doing anything now. And all the
good little doggies trail along and say what good masters they have.
Heel, Tommy.
