Re: charismatic leaders

I saw somewhere that the biggest difference between hitler and obama is that hitler actually loved his country.

The History channel had a story today about a leader of a great country.  He was a great speaker as well as a great organizer.  In a charismatic voice he told the people what they wanted to hear, he told them all their problems were the cause of someone else, he said if it wasn't for them, their economy would be in fine shape, if it wasn't for 'them', life would be better.  He was allowed to acquire more power, he said he needed it to straighten out the country, he surrounded himself with people he knew, people that would do his bidding and protect him.  He put more and more of his own people in charge of parts of the government.  As his power grew stronger he started silencing those that spoke out against him often simply by telling his mesmerized followers "that person or group is the cause of your problems" and they would be silenced or disappear.  He took over the media and wouldn't allow anything negative to be said about himself.

Do you know who I'm talking about?  Hint   Obama isn't history, yet.  There sure is a log of similarities however.
