Newt Gingrich's ill-fated campaign for president owes more than $4 million in unpaid bills to creditors and Newtie Boy isn't the only deadbeat out there. According to "Good Morning America":
  • Sick Rantorum's dead campaign owes $1.9 million
  • Rudy Giuliani's 2008 campaign STILL owes $1.5 million
  • Hillary Clinton's campaign owes $245,000 from the 2008 primaries
  • John Edwards (who is busy at the moment) owes $333,500 from 2008
  • Alan Keyes owes $301,000 from his failed 2000 Republican presidential primary
However, according to the article, the champion deadbeat is John Glenn, who in 1984 managed to run up more than $3 million in unpaid bills that creditors had to eat. Yes, these are the same people who claim to be the very models of fiscal discipline and who have no problem with the federal government violently shaking down people who "owe" taxes or student loans. However, despite the fact that the unpaid bills actually translated into layoffs and bankruptcies for many small businesses that were conned into performing services for these "campaigns," nonetheless those running for public office are able to stiff creditors and get away with it.
