**JP** Pakistan!All main rivers flowing normal

All main Rivers including Indus, Kabul, Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej are flowing Normal. Actual river flows and reservoir indicated that Tarbela and Mangla Dams are at elevations of 1549.58 feet and 1205.85 feet, respectively, which are 0.42 feet and 5.15 feet below their respective Maximum Conservation Levels of 1550.00 feet and 1210.00 feet,  Today's combined live storage position of Tarbela, Mangla & Chashma is 11.726 MAP as compared to last year's 8 616 MAF. According to Flood Forecasting Division (FFD); Lahore, weak Seasonal Low continues to prevail over Balochistan and adjoining areas. A shallow westerly wave lies over northern parts of the country. The weather system is being closely monitored by the Pakistan Meteorological Department. The existing meteorological situation in the country as reported by FFD, Lahore, may result into isolated thunderstorm/ram over upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa; northern Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir, including upper catchments of Rivers Indus & Jhelum, besides Rawalpindi and Sargodha Divisions during the next 24 hours. Significant rainfall events reported during the past 24 hours include; Islamabad (Golra = 40 mm, Zeropoint = 34 mm, Shamsabad = 11 mm & Saidpur = 09 mm), Palandri = 23 mm, Mianwali = 20 mm, Lower Dir = 15 mm, Garhi Dopatta = 11 mm, Phulra, Kotli and Risalpur = 09 mm each, Sehrkakota = 08 mm, Lahore (City), Talhatta and Dratian = 07 mm each, Saidusharif, Oghi, Daggar and Chakdara = 06 mm each, Kakul and Haitian Bala = 05 mm each. According to present Hydro-Meteorological situation & rains observed in the upper catchment areas of River Sutlej as reported by Flood Forecasting Division Lahore, Ganda Singh Wala (Kasur District) may attain a Low Flood level during the period from 1200 hours of 26th September 2010 to 1800 hours of 27th September 2010, discharge ranging between 50,000 to 60,000 cusecs (Approximate Gauge level 18-19 feet). This may cause inundation in low lying areas of river Sutlej. The inhabitants in the river bed around/low lying areas in Districts Kasur, Okara and Pakpattan may affect. The concerned authorities are advised to take precautionary measures to warn the people residing in the river bed.
