It is not about the koran

It is not about the koran

If you are like me, you are both dismayed and shocked by the number of people caught up in the burn the koran drama. I am thinking about adding a copy of the bill of rights to my personal BBQ as no one in power seems to have read it nor do they follow it. But I digress; this act of burning a book is not the issue. Americans have rights that other do not have. This includes the right to peacefully protest and be insensitive to others. You have the right to protect and or destroy your property. You also have a right to personal opinion, or at least you used did.

I used to believe that we had a government full of hard workers dedicated to protecting our rights. I now know better. Our leadership has failed us. What better opportunity to show the world how we work and how our system allows for independent thought and opposing views without the violence that plaques other systems. This was an opportunity, now it is a circus.

When senior military officers and politicians refuse to defend our way of life, I pinch myself to see if I am living in a nightmare. When I see them building up the most oppressive and violent system on the planet; I realize that we as a people are wrong to support such leadership. If we wanted to live under oppression, we would read the koran and not burn it. Alternatively, we would blindly follow a leadership that determines what we can do with our own property.

Once you go down the slippery slope of allowing others to determine your beliefs and limit your freedoms you are extremely close to anarchy. History has proven no government can stifle freedom for long, the people can and will rise up. That is a key factor to the Tea Parties success, peaceful protest and using all resources to protect the majority rule.

By standing up to protect islam, our so-called leaders are playing into the radical islamic fringe elements that consider sharia superior to our own rights and values. A radical Imam will not point out that large numbers of Christians do not support the Koran burning. Nor will they point out that some Americans are planning to burn Bible's to counter protest.
