Surya "Chili" Yalamanchili, the Democratic candidate in Ohio's second
congressional district, running against incumbent Republican Jean
Schmidt. The interview is a pretty frank give and take -- there's no
doubt that Chili is a progressive Democrat and that he thinks about
policy issues. (It's mind-boggling, but Schmidt does not take a single
policy position on her website.) Ohio's second district is
historically Republican and, despite her unpopularity, the odds are in
Schmidt's favor but Chili might pull a surprise upset. It'll be an
interesting race to watch.
Sound quality on this one is somewhat problematic but Chili's got a
lousy phone and there was just no other way to conduct the interview.
Oh well... Maybe someone could buy a corded phone for $30 and donate
it to him? If he's going to be doing more phone interviews he needs
it...
