| In my last post, we discussed what we have to do with the softwares which are installed in our computers but are not in used or we are not using it any more. Today I will explain what actually happens after the un-installation of the softwares and why. Do you really think un-installation of any kind of software is enough ??? |
| Well for a normal user, he only knows that the softwares which are not required, simply has to be uninstalled. But after the un-installation, still the files and other traces remains in your system which can create lot of problems. After the removal of any software, you will often see these things: | |
| 1. You have uninstalled it, but the name is not going from the Add/Remove section 2. Computer is taking lot of time while booting means when you turn on your computer. 3. Once you starts your computer, you see lot of errors are popping up at your screen 4. Windows speed is very slow 5. You are facing computer hanging problem | |
| These are the things if you take proper steps and identify the problem at the right time then you can increase the life time of your computer and the operating system (Winxp, Win Vista, Win7). What are the items which left behind after the un-installation of software are as follows |
| Leftover Items: |
| 1. Folders –After the removal of software, if you go to you program files folder which will be in C or D drive and you will find some software folders over there which you have already uninstalled but the folders still exist. | |
| 2. Files –In the same folders, you will find some files as well in which often the software configurations, some saved files or other stuff you will find | |
| 3. Registry –Whatever is installed in your computer or the settings of the whole operating system stored in 1 file which is called Registry of the operating system. Most of the major problems occur over here only. After the removal of software, its settings or some key values remains over here which causes lot of problems | |
| 4. Start Menu –If you click the start menu and go to all program, you will find the names of some softwares or games which you have already removed from the computer but still the name exists. | |
| 5. Windows Startup –When you turn on your computer, the operating system loads lot of configuration settings and other services (like msn messenger). Often you will find a slow start-up because operating system will also loads files of those softwares which were removed from your computer. And in this case you will see error popup on your screen. | |
| 6. Temp Files –Softwares also save some temporary files in your computer on unknown locations. Which not only consume space but can create problems | |
| 7. Shortcuts –On your desktop or at other directories you will find the shortcuts of the files or icons of the softwares, which doesn't do much but better to remove it from the system | |
| 8. Hidden Traces –Many software files are remains in your computer as hidden and causes problems later on. Better to remove these traces as well | |
| What we have to do with all of the above stuff, what's the solution. It's better to react on time to remain safe from the computer problems. We will talk all about it in the next posts
