You are well aware that the recent floods have caused immense loss to our country and a large number of families have been uprooted in Punjab, Sind, Baluchistan & Khyber provinces. Flood affectees' have lost everything including their dear ones, houses, food items, standing crops, animals and other valuables.

These people are facing the challenges of their subsistence. They are in dire need of food and non-food items. Relief Efforts currently are at a very limited scale as compared to the huge losses.

You may consider donating to "Imran Khan Flood Relief Fund" managed by Imran Khan himself who is considered as one of the most trusted individual with extremely high credibility and integrity.

Rejecting the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain's call for martial law in Pakistan, the United States has said that it would not support any move for a military coup, adding it would continue to support that country's democratic set-up.

US rejects Altaf's call for martial law

Published: August 28, 2010

WASHINGTON – A State Department spokesman indicated Thursday that the United States would not support a military coup in Pakistan when it rejected MQM leader Altaf Hussain's call for martial law in the country.
"Pakistan has a civilian government and we think it is the best form of government to take," Assistant Secretary of State Philip J Crowley said in a one-sentence answer to a question about Altaf's controversial proposal.

Am I also a bigot? Pols clueless on Ground Zero mosque

http://www.JewishWorldReview.com | The angry national debate over Imam
Feisal Abdul Rauf's intention to build a mosque two blocks north of the
horror of 9/11 at Ground Zero has been further fueled by supporter Nancy
Pelosi declaring, "I join those who have called for looking into how …
this opposition to the mosque is being funded."

If one of her sleuths knocks on my door, this opponent will readily
state that I need no outside funding as a reporter who is deeply
investigating the motivation of Imam Rauf's choice of this site of mass
murder for the mosque. I will add that, of course, all American Muslims
have their First Amendment right to exercise their freedom of religion
in their place of worship. There have been other mosques in New York
City built without opposition. That freedom is not at stake here.

As for Rauf's inflammable site choice, however, one of a growing number
of construction workers pledging they will not work on this mosque (New
York Daily News, Aug. 20), Dave Kaiser, a blaster, explains:

"I wouldn't work there, especially after I found out about what the imam
said about U.S. policy being responsible for 9/11."

Imam Rauf said was interviewed on CBS' "60 Minutes" (Sept. 30, 2001) by
Ed Bradley. (I have the transcript.) Asked how he felt as a Muslim
"knowing that people of your faith committed this act," Imam Rauf spoke
about Muslim reaction throughout the world "against the policies of the
U.S. government, politically, where we espouse principles of democracy
and human rights and where we ally ourselves with oppressive regimes in
many of these countries."

"Are you in any way suggesting that we in the United States deserved
what happened?" Bradley asked.

"I wouldn't say that the United States deserved what happened," Rauf
answered, "but the United States' policies were an accessory to the
crime that happened. … Because (the United States has) been an accessory
to a lot of -- of innocent lives dying in the world. In fact, it -- in
the most direct sense, Osama bin Laden is made in the U.S.A."

Were the heads of government in Iran, Hamas and Sudan also "made in the
USA?"

Imam Rauf has refused to call Hamas a terrorist organization and had no
comment when, on Aug. 15, Mahmoud al-Zahar, its co-founder, strongly
supported the Imam's mosque near Ground Zero, saying, Muslims "have to
build everywhere" (Associated Press, Aug. 16). Sen. Charles Schumer,
D-N.Y., said the support by Hamas of the Imam's mosque carried no weight
because "Hamas is a terrorist organization."

Why, yes, it is, Imam Rauf, with its suicide bombers and endless rockets
into Israel. How else can suicide bombers be characterized?

This imam -- widely lauded in much of the press as "a moderate" Muslim
-- is not reticent, however, in his firm commitment to Sharia (Islamic
law), which regards women as far less than fully human. In the Dec. 9,
2007 Arabic newspaper Hadi el-Islam, Rauf insisted:

"Throughout my discussions with contemporary Muslim theologians, it is
clear an Islamic state can be established in more than just a single
form or mold. It can be established through a kingdom or a democracy.
The important issue is to establish the general fundamentals of Sharia
that are required to govern."

I would greatly appreciate it if Imam Rauf explained, maybe Pelosi will
ask him, more fully what he meant in his 2004 book, "What's Right With
Islam is What's Right With America." In it he declares: "American
Constitution and system of governance uphold the core principles of
Islamic law." Rauf says Sharia law is a core principle of Islamic law.
Does that also include a core principle of our Constitution?

This 2004 book's title in the English-language edition yields to a
different title for non-English-speaking readers in Malaysia, reports
Andrew McCarthy ("Rauf's Dawa from the World Trade Center Rubble,"
nationalreview.com).

This alternate title in Malaysia brings us right back into the civil war
here about the imam's mosque near Ground Zero: "A Call to Prayer from
the World Trade Center Rubble: Islamic Dawa in the Heart of America
Post-9/11."

What does "dawa" mean? McCarthy explains: "Dawa, whether done from the
rubble of the World Trade Center or elsewhere, is the missionary work by
which Islam is spread. … The purpose of dawa, like the purpose of jihad,
is to implement, spread, and defend Sharia. … through means other than
violence and agents other than terrorists."

As of this writing, Imam Rauf is on the State Department tour (financed
by us) of Arab nations in the Middle East. He has been on four such
State Department tours -- two under George W. Bush. Says State
Department spokesman P.J. Crowley (New York Post, Aug. 20):

"I wouldn't be surprised if he talks about the ongoing debate within the
United States, as an example of our emphasis on religious tolerance and
resolving questions that come up within the rule of law."

Does our State Department include Sharia as being within our rule of law?

At the end of that news story, we are told that Rauf "is not allowed to
fund-raise on the trip." Yet, in the Aug. 18 New York Post, Geoff Earle
and Tom Topousis report that "in an interview overseas, he (Rauf) said
'he would also tap Muslim nations for help.'"

I would not be surprised if Saudi Arabia ultimately becomes a generous
contributor, but not quite in the agreement with the State Department's
"emphasis on religious tolerance."

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg charges that opponents of Imam Rauf's
mosque "should be ashamed of themselves" and are bigots.

Me, too, Mr. Mayor?

If you want to join Speaker Pelosi in investigating me, your honor, I'd
be glad to oblige. I'm just doing my job as a reporter. I wish more
reporters had gone beneath the shouting on both sides. There's another
part of the First Amendment in addition to the free exercise of
religion: The press is free to investigate the reasons for Imam Rauf's
fixation on the 9/11 location of his mosque.

And why does this location make Hamas glow?

Angelina Jolie has donated almost twice as much as Zardari to Pakistan relief efforts

Saturday, 28 August 2010 14:55

Telegraph

Angelina Jolie, the actress, has donated $100,000 (£64,000) towards flood relief efforts in Pakistan, almost twice the amount pledged by the country's president, Asif Ali Zardari.
By Rob Crilly, Islamabad
The comparison is another embarrassment for Mr Zardari, who travelled to Europe even as the full scale of the flooding became apparent.

His handling of the floods has been roundly condemned, and now his donation of five million rupees, or $58,000 (£37,000), has been highlighted.
Farhatullah Babar, Mr Zardari's spokesman, said the comparison was unfair.
"We appreciate what Angelina Jolie has done, but it is not some sort of race," he said.
Mr Zardari is known as one of the country's richest businessmen having amassed a fortune while his wife Benazir Bhutto was prime minister during the 1990s, earning the nickname Mr Ten Per Cent for his alleged taste in kickbacks.
Pakistan's anti-corruption body claims he has amassed a property empire worth almost £1 billion, with a chateau in France, homes in Britain, Spain and Florida, and bank accounts in Switzerland.
Jolie, who is a Unicef goodwill ambassador, said she was concerned about the sluggish response to appeals for cash.
She added that she understood "it is getting hard for people - they see Haiti, they see these other events ... and they get exhausted by the time another big one rolls around".
She has also hinted that she may visit the devastated country as media coverage fades.
The Pakistani government has confirmed 1,600 people have been killed and more than 2,300 wounded. The catastrophe has already affected more than 17 million people and left eight million dependent on aid. Officials warn millions more are at risk from disease and food shortage.
Sir Anthony Bamford, the JCB chairman, donated two backhoe loader diggers worth a total of £160,000 to help in the reconstruction programme.
"Britain has been leading the way with the level of its donations to Pakistan and as a British manufacturer I am keen for us to help in any way possible and hope that JCB's donation of machines can assist in some small way," he said

**JP** Will Pak Army continue to sit and watch the games of these vultures?

These are the kartoot of our leadership and so called parliament!!! Now these vultures are demanding money to "rebuild" the country. In other words, fill their endless tummies with the blood of the poor!!

Will the Pakistan army (who has done a great job in all these times of trouble) will continue to sit and watch the games of these vultures? We, as a nation, demand from the military to wipe clean the country from the shade of these vultures, seize all their assets and install a government of loyal, sincere true muslim Pakistanis, like Dr. A Q Khan, Gen. Hameed Gul, Zaid Hamid, and like such....this is the responsibility of the military to protect the country from all internal and external threats!!!

Obama's First State of the Union Address

EDGARTOWN, Mass. (AP) -- President Barack Obama wrapped up a 10-day vacation Saturday that was blissfully free of the news emergencies that have interrupted some of his past getaways.

Grim economic reports cast an inescapable shadow over the first family's stay in Martha's Vineyard, and tough tasks on Iraq and the Middle East await the president in Washington after a stop in New Orleans Sunday on the fifth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.

But during his time on this lovely island, the president never once had to shed his leisure wear to step in front of the podium and address a national emergency or matter of state. So as the first family hit the beach under picture-perfect skies Saturday for their last day away, they could celebrate an apparent end to what had become something of a vacation jinx.

On Obama's first extended presidential vacation, last August's Martha's Vineyard trip, the somber news of Sen. Edward M. Kennedy's death required Obama to leave the island for the senator's funeral. Also last year on Martha's Vineyard Obama renominated Ben Bernanke as Federal Reserve chairman.

Then there was Hawaii over Christmas and New Year's. Obama had barely arrived when Christmas Day brought the attempted terror attack on a Detroit-bound airliner, forcing the president to spend the subsequent days conferring with his national security team between golf outings.

These past days on Martha's Vineyard, by contrast, the only thing that kept Obama off the golf course was a spell of stormy weather. And even that didn't dampen his enjoyment as he holed up with his family and friends to read and play Scrabble and board games at a rented 30-acre farm with private beach.

Obama got in plenty of golf even if storms kept him off the links for a few days. He played five rounds during his stay, hitting all three island courses. The president dined out three times with first lady Michelle Obama and friends, and took Mrs. Obama and daughters Sasha and Malia to lunch at a wharfside seafood restaurant. There was also ice cream for the girls and a trip to a bookstore.

Their final vacation day took them to a stretch of beach along the island's south-facing coast. Reporters and photographers were kept well away as - for five hours - the Obamas enjoyed bright skies and temperatures in the mid-'70s.

It wasn't all down time for the president, of course. He got regular national security briefings and conferred with his economic team. He also spent about 15 minutes discussing the economy with New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg on Friday before the two golfed together.

And a packed agenda awaits Obama beginning Sunday, when he flies from Martha's Vineyard to New Orleans to give a speech on the fifth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina and discuss the Gulf oil spill.

Two days later, on Tuesday, he will mark the end to combat missions in Iraq with a speech to the troops in Fort Bliss, Texas, and an Oval Office address. And the next day Obama plunges into the Middle East peace process, welcoming Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to Washington for talks.

So if the president stored up some rest on Martha's Vineyard, he's going to need it.

It was Obama's ninth vacation as president, counting shorter weekend getaways, according to CBS radio reporter Mark Knoller, recognized by the White House as a meticulous presidential statistician.

At 10 days, it will bring to 48 the number of vacation days Obama has taken since taking office. Former President George W. Bush had spent more than twice as much time on vacation at this point in his presidency.
