Happy Groundhog Day! Rodent Confusion Rules The Day, Groundhogs Disagree

Happy Groundhog Day!.

Rodent Confusion Rules The Day

Groundhogs Disagree.

Perhaps we shold leave the decision up to Congress, they are sure to
disagree. -T

At 7:25 a.m. this morning, amidst MOSTLY cloudy skies, and
temperatures in the low 30s, Groundhog Phil saw his shadow in the
little town of Punxsutawney, Pa.
According to folklore, Phil's sighting of his own shadow means there
will be six more weeks of winter. Had Phil not seen his shadow, it
would have meant "there will be an early spring."

Staten Island Chuck: Early spring in sight
New York Post - 1 hour ago

AP New York City's most famous groundhog, Staten Island Chuck,
predicts it will be an early spring. Mayor Bloomberg was on hand to
help.

Holtsville Hal

Predicting an early spring was Suffolk County's groundhog, Holtsville
Hal. He was feeling a little more optimistic than last year when he
predicted a longer winter. The groundhog "missed" his shadow early
Thursday morning at the Wildlife & Ecology Center in Holtsville while
spectators cheered on the coming spring.

Malverne Mel saw his shadow, meaning six more weeks of winter.

Congress Could Not Agree Either:

Long Island Groundhogs Disagree on Spring's Arrival

Groundhog Day kicked off Thursday, with mixed "predictions" from Long
Island's two favorite groundhogs.

A Wildlife & Ecology Center employee noted that the four-year-old
groundhog's rediction accuracy is 42 percent.

Nassau County's groundhog wasn't so ready for spring, however.
Malverne Mel saw his shadow, meaning six more weeks of winter.

Just to complicate things, New York City's famous groundhog, Staten
Island Chuck, agreed with Hal that winter won't last too much longer.
Chuck, whose real name is Charles G. Hogg, made his prognostication at
the Staten Island Zoo with Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

The nation's top groundhog, Pennsylvania's Punxsutawney Phil, sided
with Mel again this year in the opinion that the winter will endure.
Phil , who started the 125-year-old tradition, reportedly caught a
glimpse of his shadow Thursday morning too.

According to CBS, the groundhog made his "prediction" on Gobbler's
Knob, a hill in the town of Punxsutawney with spectators including
Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett looking on.

The Long Island groundhogs have been at odds for some years now.

Last year, Mel's prediction came later than planned due to an ice
storm hitting the area on Groundhog Day 2011. Still, the bad weather
didn't stop the seemingly optimistic groundhog from predicting an
early spring that day. On the other hand, Hal predicted a long winter.

The holiday stems from a German superstition that says if a
hibernating animal casts a shadow on Feb. 2, Christian holiday of
Candlemas, winter will last another six weeks. Legend says spring will
come early.

Exit Newt

The Current Crisis
Exit Newt
By R. Emmett Tyrrell, Jr. on 2.2.12 @ 6:10AM

He's part and parcel of the 1960s generation's larger failures.

WASHINGTON -- Ah, yes, Newt Gingrich did in the last days of the Florida primary precisely what I predicted he would do. He hurled wild charges at Mitt Romney that suggested Newt was losing his grip. He charged Romney with lying and falling into the hands of George Soros and Goldman Sachs, and he did this while seeking the Republican presidential nomination!

Newt quoted Soros as saying, "We think either Obama or Romney's fine, but Gingrich, he would change things." Citing Goldman Sachs' profiting from the bailout, he linked the Wall Street firm to anti-Gingrich ads, filling in the dots: "Those ads," he averred, "are your money recycled to attack me." On Sunday, he suggested that Rick Santorum drop out of the race and support him. Santorum had left the campaign trail to be with his desperately ill daughter. That is the kind of grace we have come to expect from Gingrich, who, by the way, supplied no evidence of Goldman Sachs' or of Soros's aiding Romney.

Newt lost support in his last week in Florida because conservatives gave him a closer look. Sure we loved his one-liners singeing the tail feathers of the Liberal media and politicians. Yet, we have to put someone up against President Barack Obama who can win. Moreover, we have to put someone in the White House who can govern. With Newt we would be explaining his gyrations every few days during the campaign. And in the unlikely event that he should win we would be spending the next four years apologizing for his extravagance. I did it once before in the 1990s, and I can tell you it was a thankless task.

As I wrote last week, Newt is a 1960s generation kid. Allow me to elaborate. That generation -- my generation -- was the most ballyhooed generation raised in the 20th century, and it was -- at least in politics -- a failed generation. Gingrich, the Clintons, Al Gore, and the rest of the 1960s hustlers began their political careers in college when they were the first generation to actually believe that student government was on campus to govern. The weak Liberal administrators went along with them and gave them a say in the running of their universities. The universities have yet to recover. Yet, beyond the damage they did to the universities was the damage they did to themselves. They became the most self-absorbed generation of narcissists ever heard of. From their student government days to their days in national politics they all lived out a fantasy. Now it is over. It would be eminently fitting if Romney won the presidency and set the country on course in 2012. He is from the normal half of that generation, a man who was a student in the 1960s and afterwards a businessman, until he had secured his fortune and entered public life in middle age. By then the Clintons and Newt had been supping at the public trough for years.

The unreported aspect of last week's story of the conservative writers and politicos turning on Gingrich was the role played by the Episodic Apologists. They are the media types who have been covering for the Clintons for years. They have high hopes for the Clintons' talents. Then they are crestfallen by one of the Clintons' scandals: the pilfering of the White House, the last-minute pardons, Monica Lewinsky. Then their high hopes rekindle anew. They were loath to report my attack on Newt as being the Republican's Bill Clinton, but they jumped at the "conservative Establishment's" attacks on his veracity and his other wayward traits.

Yet, Newt's failure is part of a larger failure, the infantilism of the 1960s generation. In his narcissism, impulsiveness, and deviancy he is at one with the Clintons. Mitt, and for that matter Santorum, are just the opposite. They are straight arrows and duty-bound. They would not be a riot of scandals in the White House, but is it not about time that we leave the scandals to Hollywood?

This country is facing its worst financial crisis since the Great Depression. President Obama offers us what Romney calls Crony Capitalism. Romney is right and Crony Capitalism means more Solyndras. Congressman Paul Ryan, the chairman of the House Budget Committee, has served up a budget to cure the nation's ills and head us on a course that will not end like Greece has ended. Romney is not far from the Ryan budget and he can move even closer. Newt can be forgotten.

Re: **JP** Bill Gates funds technology to destroy your sperm

The pucki puckaayee roti causing sterility must have been a false alarm.
However one does not know which ones to believe and which ones not to.
The vaccination thing is a big question mark not only just because of the possible "culling" but also because of the bad cost:benefit ratio infact the bad side effects:benefit ratio as well.

Mass vaccination is apparently not the only depopulation strategy being employed by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, as new research funded by the organization has developed a way to deliberately destroy sperm using ultrasound technology.BBC Newsreports that the Gates Foundation awarded a grant to researchers from the University of North Carolina (UNC) to develop this new method of contraception.

For their study, the UNC team tested ultrasound on lab rats and found that two 15-minute doses "significantly reduced" both sperm counts and sperm integrity. When administered two days apart through warm salt water, ultrasound caused the rats' sperm counts to drop below ten million sperm per milliliter, which is five million less than the "sub-fertile" range, and stay that way for up to six months.

The report claims the technology is for contraceptive purposes only and not for causing sterility. However, Dr. James Tsuruta, who led the research, told reporters that it is unclear whether or not the technology can cause long-term damage, and that more research is needed to determine whether or not repeated ultrasounds cause permanent damage.

The Gates Foundation awarded 78 different research projects with $100,000 grants each as part of its "Grand Challenges in Global Health Program." Ten of these projects specifically addressed new technologies for contraception, according toTIME, including one for a pill that inhibits the growth and maturation of sperm, and another for creating chemical compounds that prevent sperm from reaching the egg (http://healthland.time.com/2010/05/14/male-birth-control-stopping-sperm-with-ultrasound/).

"We think this could provide men with up to six months of reliable, low-cost, non-hormonal contraception from a single round of treatment," wrote the researchers in their report. "Our long-term goal is to use ultrasound ... as an inexpensive, long-term, reversible male contraceptive suitable for use in developing to first world countries."

Back in 2010, Bill Gates explained to attendees at the TED Conference that year his ideas for culling the world population, one of which involved increasing vaccination rates

Re: Intelligence Study Links Low I.Q. To Prejudice, Racism, Conservatism

what the authors aren't smart enough to figure out is that most of you leftovers and pro-regressives are the truest conservatives

you like simple government imposed solutions, since market economies are too complex for you to understand

you fund your candidates through racism, as you round up poor black kids and sell them to the educrat cartels to get donations for Democrats

and now you are even returning to feudalism, giving your Lord Obama and his TSA vassals the medieval seignorial rights to molest the serf's daughters (and sons and babies and grannies)

Are racists dumb? Do conservatives tend to be less intelligent than liberals? A provocative new study from Brock University in Ontario suggests the answer to both questions may be a qualified yes.
The study, published in Psychological Science, showed that people who score low on I.Q. tests in childhood are more likely to develop prejudiced beliefs and socially conservative politics in adulthood.
I.Q., or intelligence quotient, is a score determined by standardized tests, but whether the tests truly reveal intelligence remains a topic of hot debate among psychologists.
Dr. Gordon Hodson, a professor of psychology at the university and the study's lead author, said the finding represented evidence of a vicious cycle: People of low intelligence gravitate toward socially conservative ideologies, which stress resistance to change and, in turn, prejudice, he told LiveScience.
Why might less intelligent people be drawn to conservative ideologies? Because such ideologies feature "structure and order" that make it easier to comprehend a complicated world, Dodson said. "Unfortunately, many of these features can also contribute to prejudice," he added.
Dr. Brian Nosek, a University of Virginia psychologist, echoed those sentiments.
"Reality is complicated and messy," he told The Huffington Post in an email. "Ideologies get rid of the messiness and impose a simpler solution. So, it may not be surprising that people with less cognitive capacity will be attracted to simplifying ideologies."
But Nosek said less intelligent types might be attracted to liberal "simplifying ideologies" as well as conservative ones.
In any case, the study has taken the Internet by storm, with some outspoken liberals saying that it validates their suspicions about conservatives and conservatives arguing thatthe research has been misinterpreted.
What do you think? Do conservatives tend to be less intelligent? Or is this just political opinion masquerading as science?
