Ayanna, who calls herself the toenail "goddess"

Victoria Wellman reports for the Daily Mail, March 6, 2012, that a woman who was once addicted to growing the nails on her hands has now grown her toenails to a staggering four inches, limiting her motion and jeopardizing her health.

Known as Ayanna, the 54-year-old is the latest quirky character to appear on TLC's show My Strange Addiction on which she refuses to cut her curly claws calling them her "babies":

"They are 50 per cent of who I am. They're just sexy and sassy. I am considered a long-nailed goddess," Ayanna told the lifestyle network's cameras much to the dismay of her godson Kuwait and friend Vincent.

As if Ayanna's addiction does not already impinge on everyday life, she was recently diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, a disease which requires activity and exercise to beat.

But the extreme nail-enthusiast is adamant, despite what her family say, that she 'will fiercely protect them at all costs.'

Forced to walk slowly like a penguin on her heels and climb stairs sideways, Ayanna rarely sleeps on her back because the blanket feels like a 'brick is sitting on top of my toe nails,' she explained.

Furthermore, she can't wear socks or any other shoes except flip-flops which she must endure year round, changing only into tennis shoes when she can cut the end out of the foot.

At the age of 24, Ayanna began growing the nails on her hands freakishly long but five years ago, her addiction spread to her feet.

The dictionary defines "malice" as "the desire to cause pain, injury, or distress to another."

There is no noun in the English language for a malicious person, so I propose that we use the Latin root word for malice: malitia.

Actress Roseanne Barr is a malitia.

Barr is the latest leftwinger to pile on Chick-fil-A, the restaurant chain whose owner has spoken out in support of traditional heterosexual marriage. Yes, it's that same charming Roseanne Barr, with a net worth of $80 million, who expressed her solidarity with the Occupy movement by declaring that anyone with more than $100 million in wealth should be summarily beheaded.

In a recent interview with The Baptist Press, Dan Cathy, the chief of Chick-fil-A -- which was begun by his father Truett, and now is a $4 billion-plus a year business -- said, "We are very much supportive of the family – the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that."

As documented by Tim Graham of NewsBusters, July 25, 2012, first Barr told Chick-fil-A to suck an appendage she doesn't have:

"Suck my dick chick filet- nazi chicken f---ing pricks!"

Then she went on ABC's The View [of Carping Ugly Crones] and wishes cancer on Chick-fil-A fans:

"Anyone who eats S--t Fil-A deserves to get the cancer that is sure to come from eating antibiotic filled tortured chickens 4Christ".

Shortly after her get-cancer tweet, the hate-filled Barr doubled down:

"off to grab a s--it fil-A sandwich on my way to worshipping Christ, supporting Aipac and war in Iran."

Then Roseanne tried to defend herself on green grounds:

"Giving ur kds Cancer from processed fast food is child abuse"

Next she went on the offensive by accusing Christians of making things up:

"christian liars: i never wished cancer on you at all-jesus will punish u 4 ur deceit-I said processed foods cause cancer"

And, most recently:

"even though most MM followers r illiterate-let me try again-what I said was: If U eat poison chicken anuses, u increase ur chances of cancer"

Yes dear we agree with your comments you are 100% right the main problem is our circular debt…if our govt overcome corruption then this problem could be solved but our leadership are not sincere with country and zardari PPP proved to be the most corrupt leadership in political history.. when we see in musharaf regime there was not any circular debt issue and loadshedding duration was 4 to 3 hours a day….as we know the Bangladesh is the most poor and beck ward country in south east asia, if the bangla govt can provide their people the solar energy panel on easy loan basis then why our govt cannot do so…alhamdolilah we are ahead of in technology and our scientist are sincere with country so why we are facing a horrible situation of load shedding…we are a nuclear power and we must produce energy in abundant through nuclear energy and another sources but due to all of this we are facing 14 hours load shedding which is not fair….

The solution for that our political leadership must be changed and army must come over and only army can take initiative to build kala bagh dam and if any political party oppose it must sent him in jail and through their strict action it must be built…army must negotiate with china also to solve this problem and I m sure china will help to export his transmission line to Pakistan…but it need a sincere army general who can do it on top priority basis…

We should keep in mind that capacity is not the issue, the real issue is circular debt. Government have no money to bail out and come out of the situation. We are trapped in a viscious circle due to intenntionally defective ágreements with private power companies. According to ágreements, If thet operate on 70% capacity, they get Max. Profit. Why they run on 100 %? Secondly, government have to pay them at certain threshold level even If ít do not purchase single unit. Thirdly, the price to be paid to private companies according to agreement, is more than double what neibouring countries are paying.
The issue is therefore malafied intention and result of past corruption that lead to defective agreements. Now we should gear up government machinery to conserve energy which have potential of 25%. This can be done through bringing legislation making waste of energy "a crime", mandatory energy auudits, introducing modern energy control devices. This could be supplemented by announcing naional solar energy use policy by adopting Germany model, where government gave. subsidy and offer soft loans to general public to buy solar panels. Public can use solar energy ang surplus is fed in the system. Meter installed slow down or even run reverse dependiñg upon power consumed.
We should encourage investors to replace street lights with LEDs. Promote micro hydel.............to do that need honest and capable leadership not the corrupts and lip servers!

The only way to hold free and fair election must be under the caring of Army…he must be shooting order for election rule violators…and army must help CEC until counting of ballet papers and declaration of result..but our army chief must be neutral..as we see in 1997 election results in caring of army and PPP sweep out completely….Mr kiani must strict with candidate and order them not to violate the rules and regulation during voting and if any body violate must shoot them on the spot…because the violators understand the bullet language only…..

His highness Mr. iftekhar choudhry sahb must call for help army also in order to act upon the supreme court order to open swiss case against zardari…and this is in our constitute that army can be call by the supreme court..but I didn’t understand why CJ not to exercise this power…if army can take initiative and order zardari to do so then he can do..army is supreme in Pakistan..zardari is under him…but our army genral Mr.kiani can do so I think the answer will be in negative because he has already bargain with zardari….

Honourable Justice (Retd) Fakhruddin G. Ibrahim– the newly appointed CEC has openly admitted that it will a ‘challenging’ task for him to hold the free and fair elections as expected of him by the nation. Probably he had just in mind the violations of the PEC rules committed by the contestants in the recently held NA 151 bye elections at Multan and the helplessness of the Election Commission to take any action against the winner, who in spite of the blatant violations of the rules has been sworn in to the august house.

It would certainly be a ‘challenging’ and an uphill task for the CEC. So why not make it a little easier and manageable for him?

The only way that I can think of to keep the powerful, hereditary and professionals out of the arena is that the masses (the constituents) do the gherao their respective present representatives and extract a promise from them that since they have failed us not only they but also their immediate near ones and dear ones shall not contest any elections in future. The people then should look around and select the best and most suitable person among from themselves and ask him/her to represent them in the assemblies. If he/she shows any reluctance to oblige, he/she MUST be forced to do so even at the proverbial “point of the sword” if need be as was done to Hazrat Ali (A.S) by the people of Medina after the Shahadat of Hazrat Usman (R.A.)

That way we might get some fresh and probably younger blood who may prove to be more dedicated, selfless, honest and capable than our present parliamentarians and in the process the lot of the masses may also be ameliorated.

-آج کی تراویح گیارہویں پارے سے شروع ہوکر بارہویں پارے کے ربع تک کی تلاوت پر مشتمل ہے۔ اللہ تعالیٰ ارشاد فرماتا ہے کہ بعض لوگ ایسے ہیں جو زکوٰۃ کو اپنے اوپر بوجھ سمجھتے ہیں اور نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے حق میں زمانے کی گردش کا انتظار کررہے ہیں کہ موقع ملتے ہی منحرف ہوجائیں۔ ایسے لوگوں کا چکر خود انہی پر مسلط ہے۔ اللہ سب کچھ سنتا اور جانتا ہے۔ وہ مہاجر اور انصاری، جنہوں نے سب سے پہلے دعوتِ اسلام قبول کی، اور وہ نیک لوگ جو ان کے پیچھے آئے، اللہ ان سب سے راضی ہوا۔ اور ان کے لئے جنت کی بشارت ہے۔ اس کے بعد مسجد ضرار کا ذکر ہے، جسے منافقین نے مسلمانوں میں نفاق پیدا کرنے کے لئے بنایا تھا۔ اللہ نے اس کی مذمت فرمائی اور وہ مسمار کردی گئی۔ اس کے بعد ان تین صحابہؓ کا ذکر ہے جنہوں نے دانستہ جہاد میں شرکت نہیں کی تھی۔ ان کا مقاطعہ (بائیکاٹ) کیا گیا تھا۔ پچاس دن بعد اللہ نے ان کی توبہ قبول فرماکر انہیں معاف کردیا تھا۔ اب سورۂ یونس میں فرمایا کہ قرآن حکمت و دانش کی کتاب ہے۔ یہ کوئی عجیب بات نہیں ہے کہ ہم نے تم ہی میں سے ایک آدمی کو تمہاری ہدایت کے لئے پیغمبر بناکر تمہارے درمیان بھیجا ہے۔ جو شخص بھی ان کی ہدایت قبول کرے گا، فلاح پائے گا۔ منکرین کے حق میں کوئی شفاعت کام نہیں دے گی۔ اس کے بعد اللہ تعالیٰ نے دوزخ سے ڈرایا ہے اور جنت کی نعمتوں کی خوش خبری دی ہے۔ ناشکرے لوگوں کا ذکر کرتے ہوئے اللہ تعالیٰ فرماتا ہے کہ جب ان پر کوئی مصیبت آتی ہے تو پھر ہر وقت اللہ کے حضور گڑگڑاتے ہیں۔ مگرجب اللہ ان کی مصیبت دور کردیتا ہے اور ان پر اپنا فضل فرما دیتا ہے تو پھر یہی لوگ ایسے ناشکرے ہوجاتے ہیں گویا ان پر کوئی برا وقت پڑا ہی نہ تھا۔ اللہ تعالیٰ کا ارشاد ہے کہ ''قرآن کوئی ایسی کتاب نہیں جو بغیر اللہ کی وحی کے کسی نے خود تصنیف کرلی ہو۔ اور اگر اے لوگو! تم کو ایسا شک ہے تو اس جیسی ایک سورۃ ہی بنالائو اور اپنی مدد کے لئے اللہ کے سوا جسے جی چاہے بلالو، یقینا تم کامیاب نہیں ہوسکتے۔ اے نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم! آپ لوگوں سے کہہ دیں کہ تمہارے پاس تمہارے رب کی طرف سے حق آچکا ہے۔ اب جو سیدھی راہ اختیار کرے گا، اس کی راست روی اس کے لیے فلاح کا باعث ہوگی اور جو گمراہ رہیں گے ان کے لئے ان کی گمراہی تباہی کا سبب بنے گی۔ صبر کیجیے یہاں تک کہ اللہ فیصلہ کردے۔ اور اللہ ہی بہترین فیصلہ کرنے والا ہے۔ اس کے بعد سورۂ ہود میں اللہ تعالیٰ ارشاد فرماتا ہے کہ ''قرآن مجید ایک حکم اور ایک نظام ہے اور اس کا نازل کرنے والا دانا اور باخبر ہے۔ کسی غیر اللہ کی بندگی نہ کرو، بندگی کے لئے صرف اللہ کی ذات واحد ہے۔ اور اللہ کا نبی، اللہ کی طرف سے خبردار کرنے والا اور خوش خبری دینے والا ہے۔ منکرو! تم اپنے کیے کی معافی چاہو، اور اللہ کی طرف لوٹ آئو' ورنہ تم کو ایک ہولناک عذاب کی تنبیہ کی جاتی ہے۔ زمین پر چلنے والا کوئی جان دار ایسا نہیں ہے جس کا رزق اللہ کے ذمہ نہ ہو۔ لوگ بہت ناشکرے ہیں، پریشانی اور مایوسی کی حالت میں اللہ پر الزام لگاتے ہیں اور جب اللہ ان کو اپنی نعمتوں سے نوازتا ہے تو اترانے لگتے ہیں، اور مغرور ہوجاتے ہیں۔ اس سورۃ میں بھی اللہ تعالیٰ نے منکروں کو چیلنج کیا ہے کہ اگر تم یہ سمجھتے ہو کہ قرآن پیغمبروں کی خود ساختہ کتاب ہے تو تم بھی اس جیسی سورتیں تصنیف کرکے لے آئو اور (اللہ کے سوا) اپنے مددگار کو بھی ساتھ لے لینا، یقینا تم ایسا نہیں کرسکو گے۔

Iris scanners aren't as hack-proof as we thought they were.

LAS VEGAS (CNNMoney) -- We know that cybercriminals are attacking our networks and computers every day, but the next thing they come hunting for might be your eyes.

Some passwords for critical systems are gradually being replaced with biometric identifiers like fingerprints and iris scans, which supposedly offer a safer way to log in. Biometric information can't be stolen in a phishing attack, for instance, because the markers are unique (and physically attached) to each user. It's a foolproof system, right?

Ha.

It turns out that fingerprints and iris scans can be hacked just like a password, with a clever bit of reverse-engineering.

When biometric data is entered into a computer, the system doesn't store the actual fingerprint or iris scan. It records a digital template that serves as a trimmed-down representation of the biometric information. When a user goes to log in, his or her characteristics are matched against those templates, and the match is given a similarity score. If it's high enough, the user is let inside.

Last year, researchers at the University of Bologna in Italy were able to reconstruct a fingerprint from the digital template stored in a computer. They were so successful that they were able to build gummy finger versions of the prints that could be pressed up against a reader and used to fool the computer into letting them into someone else's account.

Iris scans shouldn't be susceptible to reverse-engineering, because the human iris is far more complex than a fingerprint and offers extremely low false positives in a scan. It's possible that your fingerprint comes close enough to matching mine, but the chances that your iris could be confused for someone else's are incredibly slim.

Yet new research shows that building an eyeball from a digital iris template is just as plausible as creating a fingerprint from a template.

At the Black Hat cybersecurity conference in Las Vegas on Wednesday, Javier Galbally, a researcher at the Universidad Autonoma of Madrid, Spain, showed how his team did it.

Iris scanners take an image of the eye, stretch the iris out into a rectangle, and then create a template of 0s and 1s called an "iriscode." In image form, it resembles a series of black and white pixels in a long, narrow rectangle. It looks nothing like an actual iris.

But don't tell that to an iris scanning system. By making an image out of the stored iriscode, stretching it into a circle, and feeding it back into the system, Galbally's team was able to get into the system with an 87% success rate.

The iris scanner didn't even care that the background was completely white, with no eyelid surrounding the reconstructed image. In other words, the scanner didn't look to check that the image it was looking at was really a human eye. That's a huge vulnerability, Galbally said, and one that iris scanning systems should fix.

The growing popularity of biometric scanners have raised concerns that bad guys are going to start gruesomely chopping off fingers and cutting out eyeballs to break into critical systems. (Hey, it worked in Demolition Man.)

It turns out they don't need the original sample at all -- just some hacking skills and a printer.

Yesterday, Congressman Trent Franks (AZ-02) questioned Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division of the United States Department of Justice, Thomas Perez, over whether the Department would commit to not adopting a policy of criminalizing speech that is critical of any religion. Perez refused to commit.

Does anyone need more evidence that this administration could care one wit about our Constitution. You know, the supreme law of our land and the guarantor our all our freedoms. That dusty old document.

Yeah, that one!
