NONSENSE.
 
Zia court martialled and hanged a Major from the army after rejecting his appeal for mercy in the notorious Pannu Aqil murder case - if you know of it  - and his four civilians main culprits, (Major was just an abettor to the crime)  are living around happily even today after almost 20 years of their case lingering on in the civil courts.
 
Quote me a case where under a "dictator" the case was swept under the carpet.  Just do not talk for the sake of talking.

Only in a democracy, such problems cannot be swept under the carpet because of the free and independent media as well as ECP and judiciary. Even if the PPP candidate succeed in avoiding a criminal case against her [due to procedural issues or the victim not pressing her complaint], she has suffered a loss of reputation and a wide-scale public/media condemnation. In most dictatorships, affluent people often succeed in sweeping such excesses under the carpet.

How unfortunate is the despondency reflected in the mail?!  What future this country has if all this keep happening here?

Dear Sir;
This is the Tragic Climax of the Dramatic 20th Amendment in the Constitution [so called] Sacred Book of Pakistan.  The ruling class has shown the Trailers of Next General Elections with Added Powers of ECP.  The Stand By Policeman [of Inspector's Rank] was acting like a wooden Dummy for fear of Dismissal from Service by a future Legislator lady.  These people have no fear of Allah [SWT] what to talk of Constitution/Law of the land.  The lady [Reportedly] an Assistant Presiding Officer had an appointment for a very short duration of [one day] can ill afford to suffer wrath of these rulers for the duration of her life long Service.  She can be victimized by postings, transfers, loss of seniority or suspension due to crimes which she may have never thought of.  These punishments/awards can be bestowed on her by an  ADI Schools of Grade16/17.
 So moral of the story is that the Victim may herself along with her Parents/grandparents report to the Shahaan Da Dera to APOLOGISE for the episode which caught the eyes of Media by her blunders.  Long ago a man by the name of Unnarr was [reportedly] taken to a bank with explosive tied to his legs and made to encash a cheques otherwise he would be blown off through a remotely controlled device.  Years later the Victim declined of any such incident.  Allah [SWT] what a country???

Test Case for ECP
What Waheeda Shah did to the lady presiding officer of the polling station is highly deplorable and most unbecoming of a lady aspirant legislator.  Contrary to her brutal behaviour and a physical crime the conduct of the lady teacher presiding officer was most honourable and dignified. She just suffered the humiliation with tears in her eyes and subdued cries on her lips. She could have also retaliated blow for blow and slap for slap but her moral fibre which is certainly better than that of the aspirant legislator restrained her from stooping to that low ebb.
Now that the ECP has been made a fully independent body by the 20th amendment, it has a very first case before it and the whole nation is watching it rather closely for the action it will take. Waheeda Shah apparently looks to be a powerful lady from the ruling clan and has already managed a press conference where a burqa clad lady purported to be the presiding officer has exonerated her of the physical crime dismissing it as inadvertent and due to some misunderstanding.  However, it is now for the Election Commission to probe into the matter and establish its writ with the very first case warranting its immediate attention and action. The ECP has to nip the evil in the bud and prove its impartiality, independence and authority from the start or else it will become yet another submissive, servile and spineless subservient organization of no good to the nation.  An independent, fair and firm ECP is the hope of the nation for ensuring honest and correct le adership to rule over the land of the pure.
