Women's health care
Your boss shouldn't decide what kind of health care you use. That's just wrong.
Incredibly, that's exactly what Sen. Roy Blunt's (R-Missouri) brand
new amendment would allow. He wants Congress to totally scrap
President Obama's guarantee of access to affordable birth control and
let any employer or any health plan refuse coverage of birth control –
even as President Obama has found a reasonable, respectful solution
that exempts religious institutions and guarantees women contraception
coverage.
It looks like Blunt's amendment is coming up for a vote next week, and
we must stop it.
I am absolutely dumbfounded that we're still debating whether women
have a right to basic health care. But we've seen it all before.
That's why I joined with Barbara Boxer and several colleagues to start
One Million Strong for Women to push back against the attacks on
women.
An overwhelming grassroots movement is the only way to stop right-wing
efforts to deny women affordable birth control. The best way we can
stop this bill – and others like it – is to join together.

Mitt Romney says he'd repeal the new guarantee for affordable
contraception on "day one" of his hypothetical presidency. Now we have
Blunt's new bill bringing this issue to the here and now.
Putting CEOs in charge of health care decisions is patently offensive.
But that's what the vocal minority that's hijacked this debate wants
to see.
Think about that. They want to do away with birth control coverage. I
can't think of a better example of why it's so important for us to get
organized and get ready to stand strong against the right-wing's "war
on women."

It's appalling that some people think that anyone except a woman and
her doctor should make health care decisions for her.
That's why we have to stand up to right-wing bullying on this issue.
We can't let the radical few make health care decisions for millions
and millions of women.
