Distance Learning Program offered by Urban Development and Environmental Research Center (UDERC)       Urban Development and Environmental Research Center (UDERC) is an initiative of Dr. Tatsuro Sakano Lab, Department of Social Engineering, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan with a concept of social transformation through innovative technologies. As an outreach initiative of Sakano Lab, Tokyo Institute of Technology in Pakistan, UDERC is lead by Dr. M. Atiq ur Rahman (Dr.Engr., TITECH Japan 2004, M.Sc., AIT, Bangkok, 1997). UDERC has established close research collaborations with different organizations in Japan, Pakistan and other countries. Most prominent institutions include Lab of Dr. Takeshi Komai, Institute of Geo Resources and Environment (GREEN), Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) Ministry of Economy Trade and Industry (METI), Japan; Dr. Morishita Lab, Aichi Gakuin University, Japan; Dr. Nirei Hisashi, Emeritus Prof. Ibaraki University, Chairperson, Geo Pollution Control Agency (NPO), Japan; Prof. Watanabe, Social Entrepreneurship Program, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan and Dr. Shinji Tajima, International Center for Literacy and Culture (ICLC) Tokyo.  In Pakistan UDERC is research partner with Environmental Science Department, Lahore College for Women University (LCWU). UDERC is also a publishing partner with World Health Organization (WHO) to translate literature on environmental health and arsenic related publications.   UDERC in collaboration with its National Institute of Social Engineering and GIS (NISEGIS) offers distance learning short courses in the following fields.   1. Social Engineering for Sustainable Development 2. Disaster Management and Emergency Response Planning  3. Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) 4. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for Spatial Data Management 5. Municipal and Industrial Waste Management  6. Global Positioning System (GPS) and its Applications 7. Low Carbon City Planning and Building Design 8. Health Impacts of Arsenic Contaminated Drinking Water 9. Climate Change Adaptability for Sustainable Development 10.
