CQ ROLL CALL KICKS OFF "TASTE OF AMERICA"

 

Washington, D.C.—Today, CQ Roll Call kicks off the "Taste of America" contest on Capitol Hill. This is a tournament-style food competition that pits state against state in a March Madness style bracket. Starting today, CQ Roll Call readers will decide the winner by voting online for their state's signature food at www.cqrollcalltasteofamerica.com. The final eight states will be part of a reception at Nationals Ballpark on June 28, 2012.

 

"Last year, this contest proved to be a fun and friendly competition," said Peter Anthony, Senior Vice President and Publisher of CQ Roll Call. "This year, we're bringing the contest to Nationals Ballpark, where the final reception will involve eight states. The content is open to anyone, so vote early andvote often."

 

The rules are as follows: CQ Roll Call has created a bracket of 64 foods, aminimum of one entry per state with several additional entries for the larger states. States will "play" against other states within their region. People are encouraged to go online and vote for the state(s) they want to win. At the end of the week, the votes are tallied and winners advance to the next round. The winner will be announced at a reception at Nationals Ballpark on June 28, 2012.

 

The contest is sponsored by the National Beer Wholesalers Association, the National Restaurant Association, the National Pork Producers Council and the American Frozen Food Institute.
