Contact | About John Mica | 7th District | News | Issues | Services | Photo Album | Students Dear Friends, I wanted to share with you an interview I gave this week concerning the General Services Administration (GSA) and its offensive spending of your hard-earned taxpayer dollars.   As you may have heard, the GSA spent over $820,000 in the fall of 2010 on a Las Vegas junket at taxpayer expense.  On the bill for this atrocious spending were such items as mind readers, clowns and swag bags.  Upon the release of the Investigator General's report, which I had requested, I immediately held a hearing to get to the bottom of this and ensure that this waste would not continue.   To view the video, please click here Three years ago when I became Republican Leader of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, (which oversees public buildings which GSA administers), I commissioned a report entitled "Sitting on our Assets", detailing the rampant waste and abuse of taxpayer funds by the GSA.  Last year, in the cold of winter, I dragged GSA bureaucrats to an abandoned 14,000 square foot building in Washington with no heat to prove a point: that this waste would not continue.  These two instances are only the tip of the iceberg, and I pledge to you that I will not rest until the root cause of this waste is found and those responsible are held accountable.
