Re: Gingrich Cancels Event in Face of Ron Paul Protesters

The 84 ethics charges were brought by a partisan, Democratic controlled ethics committee, and eventually reduced down to one charge.  $300k was a cheap price to shut the witch hunt down.

Gingrich brought the Contract with America,  balanced the budget for four years, and was able to reach across the aisle.  Gingrich has continuosuly looked for conservative solutions to issues facing the United States,  which were not those same, old, tired, Marxist inspired attempts brought by the Democrats.

Your version of Gingrich's record is right out of the Marxist playbook there PlainOl, which speaks volumes.

Newt started his campaign in disgrace and will end in disgrace.

Eighty-four ethics charges were filed against Gingrich during his term
as speaker. After extensive investigation and negotiation by the House
Ethics Committee, Gingrich was sanctioned $300,000 by a 395–28 House
vote. It was the first time in history a speaker was disciplined for
ethical wrongdoing.

Republicans lost five seats in the House in the 1998 elections—the
worst midterm performance in 64 years for a party that didn't hold the
presidency. Polls showed that Gingrich and the Republican Party's
attempt to remove President Clinton from office was deeply unpopular
among voters.[71] Gingrich suffered much of the blame for the election
loss. Facing a rebellion in the Republican caucus, he announced on
November 5, 1998, that he would not only stand down as Speaker, but
would leave the House as well.

Gingrich has stated that he has developed a greater appreciation for
the role of faith in public life following his conversion, and
believes that the United States has become too secular.
