RE: Warning: Stop war against people; disband Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)

 

Dear Prime Minister,

I am William Nicholas Gomes, human rights activist and journalist. I have observed the overwhelming human rights violations in Bangladesh.

Your government is in war against the ordinary people of Bangladesh.

The state can be titled as dysfunctional under ruling of your government. Each and every ministry is corrupted with corruption. The judiciary and the law enforcement agencies became tools of subjugate the opposition parties or to anyone trying to expose the dysfunctional character of your government.

Your government is in war against, the people of Bangladesh. The government that you are leading is clearly is not pro people government. Your government became a government of few elected dictators by the cost of many and that is what set you in war against the people of Bangladesh.

The law enforcement agencies and the security forces care little for the ordinary people of Bangladesh. The special unit of Bangladesh police, killing squad Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) became the licensed killing tools of government; as a result the cross fire and now a days the disappearances had crossed any past record.

Due process of law does not exist in practice other than in the theory and in the law books in Bangladesh.

You had followed the legacy of politicizing the judiciary. Suppressing the Mass media , the share market had looted , people is now in road and every day your  ministers are costing the people and living the life of luxury at the cost of ordinary people of Bangladesh.

US invasion on Iraq, Afghanistan were criticized by the progressive forces all over the world. The situations of Bangladesh became worst than the Iraq or Afghanistan, the imperialist find out the group betrayers lead by you. Then   they need not to run any invasion in Bangladesh, your government is enough to loot the country's people by declaring war against them. There is no democracy in the country.

You had signed a secret agreement with the Indian government and by breaching the international human rights standard. You had guided the killing squad RAB to work with special unit Indian intelligence RAW to arrest and illegally hand over the Indian citizens, especially the people associated with United Liberation Front of Asom.   

You have successfully used the law enforcement agencies, specially the killing squad Rapid action battalion. Our sources have confirmed that the intelligence unit of RAB has prepared a list of the political people who are very active in anti government activities. The list includes mainly the people of main opposition party, BNP and Jamat e Islami. These people will be tortured, killed and many of them will face enforced disappearances as the anti government movement grows. You are leading the nation towards violence .

I have lunch the SMS campaign as a part of my continuous effort to "BAN RAB". All the battalion of RAB , and every cabinet minister have already  received  the warning message and appeal to disband the RAB . I will continue to run the SMS camping until you disband the RAB and bring them under the law.  

I warn you to stop war against the people of Bangladesh. Disband the Rapid action battalion now and form a special tribunal to investigate all the allegations of torture, cross fire, disappearances and make all possible effort to bring them under the law.
