I watched the debate, and I am familiar with contemporary history.
Dr. Paul is incorrect, we were not at war with Iran when we supported a coup that installed the Shah of Iran in 1953. The region was unstable then, as it is now, and for twenty-five years under the Shah there was stability in Iran, with a semi-Western style society that was friendly to our interests.
I think Rick Santorum, as stated in another post, is a typical big government "Hamiltonian Federalist" parading as a Republican. The only difference between him and a socialist Democrat, is that Santorum would push his brand of moral compass on America under a federalist system, and Paul exposed that during the debate.
It didn't make Dr. Paul any more correct with regard to history, or his foreign policy.

To me, Ron Paul clearly made more sense.
