Civil marriage is distinct and separate from religious marriage. As
long as the government codifies marriage, all people must be included
in those laws equally regardless of gender. Churches are then free to
bless those civil marriage contracts or not as they choose.
Civil rights matters should NEVER be placed on the ballot, for the
majority almost always votes AGAINST the minority.
