Cokie Roberts, White Flighter?

NPR's Cokie Roberts recently opined that Mitt Romney went to Poland to appeal to white voters. Apparently visiting Israel, or England, was not an appeal to white voters, according to Cokie. I guess they are not white.

But what is very, very white is Cokie's hood. She lives at 5315 Bradley Boulevard in a house worth about a mil and a half, in zip code 20814, which is less than 6% black - in a suburb of a city that is 50% black.

Now in this the Coker is just like Eugene Robinson, Chris Matthews, Andrea Mitchell, David Gregory, Chuck Todd, Jay Carney, Hillary Rosen, and every other pro-regressive journalist or PR flak, who all live in lily white areas. Including all the higher-ups at NPR, who tend to live in Chevy Chase or Aspen.  And she did buy her house in 1978 when DC was much blacker, and she was having babies who needed all white schools. So she has an excuse.

They are upset because he isn't worshiping at the Multicult alter. You know the one. "All cultures are equally good and equally valuable."
It's B.S. and people in the western world are waking up to it.
If I had to pick. I would rather live in Israel than in ANY of the islamic countries.
Culture does matter. And western culture is better then the barbarity that passes for islamic 'culture".

And I'm glad Mr. Romney had the balls to say it.

Here is what Mitt Romney said:

 

"You notice a stark difference in economic vitality" between Israel and the Palestinians, And as I come here and I look out over this city and consider the accomplishments of the people of this nation, I recognize the power of at least culture and a few other things,.....As you come here and you see the GDP per capita, for instance, in Israel which is about $21,000 dollars, and compare that with the GDP per capita just across the areas managed by the Palestinian Authority, which is more like $10,000 per capita, you notice such a dramatically stark difference in economic vitality,"

 

That is hardly the same thing as what the Huffington Post described Mitt Romney's comments as.   Granted,  Romney's comments could be construed as insensitive,  but this is another example of far left extremist, "yellow" journalism.

WASHINGTON, D.C. ­ While 529 hardworking athletes proudly represent the United States in the 2012 Olympics, any medals and money they earn wearing red, white and blue will be taxed by the IRS. According to research done by the Americans for Tax Reform Foundation, U.S. Olympic athletes are liable to pay income tax on medals earned and prizes received at the London games.

American medalists face a top income tax rate of 35 percent. Under U.S. tax law, they must add the value of their Olympic medals and prizes to their taxable income. It is therefore easy to calculate the tax bite on Olympic glory.

At today's commodity prices, the value of a gold medal is about $675.  A silver medal is worth about $385 while a bronze medal is worth under $5.

There are also prizes that accompany each medal:  $25,000 for gold, $15,000 for silver, and $10,000 for bronze.

So how much will U.S. Olympic medal winners have to pay in taxes to the IRS?

Silver           $135              $5,250            $5,385
Bronze           $2                $3,500            $3,502

American gold medal winners will pay the IRS up to $8,986. Silver medal winners will pay up to $5,385. Bronze medal winners will pay up to $3,502.

It gets even worse. Not only do our Olympic athletes have to pay taxes on their medals and prizes -- chances are their competitors on the field will face no such taxation when they get home. Because the U.S. is virtually the only developed nation that taxes "worldwide" income earned overseas by its taxpayers, our Olympic athletes face a competitive disadvantage that has nothing to do with sports.

Internet "memes" (pronounced 'meem') are a phenomenon. Memes typically come in the form of a picture with a caption attached to it. The genesis of the Internet meme is unknown, but it's a safe bet that it involved cats. Here's one of the most famous early memes:
