Team Obama Preparing Thousands of Lawyers for 2012 Election

Someone is worried that dead people, illegals immigrants and cartoon characters will be disenfranchised.

From Politico:

President Barack Obama's campaign has recruited a legion of lawyers to be on standby for this year's election as legal disputes surrounding the voting process escalate.

Thousands of attorneys and support staffers have agreed to aid in the effort, providing a mass of legal support that appears to be unrivaled by Republicans or precedent. Obama's campaign says it is particularly concerned about the implementation of new voter ID laws across the country, the possibility of anti-fraud activists challenging legitimate voters and the handling of voter registrations in the most competitive states.

Anti-fraud activists is what Obama calls Americans who want voters to show ID. As for how voter registrations are handled, Obama has corrupt ACORN and SEIU goons out registering fraudulent voters like Mickey Mouse.

Republicans are building their own legal teams for the election. They say they're focused on preventing fraud — making sure people don't vote unless they're eligible — rather than turning away qualified voters.

Since the disputed 2000 presidential election, both parties have increasingly concentrated on building legal teams — including high-priced lawyers who are well-known in political circles — for the Election Day run-up. The Bush-Gore election demonstrated to both sides the importance of every vote and the fact that the rules for voting and counting might actually determine the outcome. The Florida count in 2000 was decided by just 537 votes and ultimately landed in the Supreme Court.

And all those lawyers didn't help Gore steal the election.

This year in that state alone, Obama and his Democratic allies are poised to have thousands of lawyers ready for the election and hope to have more than the 5,800 attorneys available four years ago. That figure was nearly twice the 3,200 lawyers the Democrats had at their disposal in 2004.

Lawyers are slimy and Obama was a lawyer...you just can't view his BAR scores or client list.

I think ants and bees give a good picture of a collective society, but humans will revolt if not allowed to be individuals. So you end up with mini-collective societies called companies. The boss is the queen bee of the company, but a small company is also capitalism in its purest form.

Well not quite, yet this was a funny joke!

No zombie sightings despite warning on SR 520

MyNorthwest.com: There weren't any sightings of reanimated corpses along 520, but there was a warning of "zombie's ahead" on the well-traveled state route Monday morning.

Drivers headed toward Bellevue were greeted with "Warning: Zombies Ahead." According to q13fox.com, the sign also switched to "012 GHS WEOUTCHA YEWB&#$"

Road crews were sent out to change the signs before too long.

It's not entirely clear who or how the signs were tampered with, but Kris Olsen with the Washington State Department of Transportation said it wasn't an easy feat. "These signs are password protected. So they managed to bypass those security (measures)," she said. "We're going to work with the contractors to make sure to strengthen those security procedures and the passwords to make sure that doesn't happen again." Olsen said not only does tampering with the signs compromise the safety of drivers and road crews, it's also a felony.

There are no clear suspects, but the theory is that GHS could stand for Garfield High School, with "012" giving credit to the class of 2012.

As one of the commentors noted in the MyNorthwest article: "It's interesting that probably one kid could hack this computer system yet WSDOT has to send out road crews to change the sign back." But of course!

Silly kids, although I kinda laughed when I saw it :)

Chechen fighters utterly pawned the Russian Federation's tanks during the Battle of Grozny, targeting the vehicles' thinly-armored roofs with RPGs from rooftop sniper nests. Russia's go-to anti-personnel armor at the time, the BMP-2, couldn't raise its turrets high enough to return fire. So, Russia began do develop an armored support vehicle designed for a dense, urban combat zone—the Terminator.

The Boyevaya Mashina Podderzhki Tankov (BMPT translates into "Tank Support Fighting Vehicle"—the Terminator is its nickname) has been produced by the Uralvagonzavod company since 1995. Designed to protect tanks from infantry and anti-armor forces, the Terminator engages multiple targets simultaneously, allowing the tanks to focus on what they do best—shooting hardened targets (like other tanks).

The BMPT, based on the Russian T-72 battle tank chassis, is powered by a 1,000HP V-92S2 diesel that allows the 52 ton, 22-foot long vehicle to reach speeds up to 40 MPH. It's operated by a crew of five. Defensively, the BMPT sports steel-hardened active and passive reactive armor. The active armor has a small charge sandwiched between armor plates, which detonates to deflect incoming charges. Passive armor does the same thing sans the explosive, with kevlar lining the vehicle interior to defend against spalling. The BMPT is also protected against NBC (nuclear, biological, and chemical) weapons, and it's outfitted with an automatic fire extinguisher system. If the situation gets really hairy, the BMPT can fire smoke grenades for camouflage. All in all, the Terminator's defensive capabilities and heritage put it on par with the Main Battle Tanks that it defends.

Offensively, well, it's not called the Terminator for nothing—dual 30-mm auto-cannons with a 600RPM feed are loaded with 850 rounds each of various fragmentation and piercing ordnance (specifically HE-T, APDS, HE-FRAG and AP-T). Dual remote-controlled 30-mm automatic grenade launchers, four anti-tank missile launchers and one coaxial 7.62-mm machine gun make the BMPT absolutely deadly against infantry, light vehicles, even friggin' helicopters. And since each weapon system can be fired independently by either the commander or the gunner, the Terminator can take on up to three enemies simultaneously. It operates effectively day or night, regardless of weather conditions, thanks to computerized firing controls (adapted from the T-90 battle tank) as well as PNK ranging sights for both the Commander and Gunner.
