Re: Take Action: Stop The Hate! Send A No More Suicides Letter to President Obama and Congress

By your logic, heterosexuals have no right to parade their wife or girlfriend, husband or boyfriend out.
You clearly think that gays are unequal second class citizens who need to hide in the  closet.

By tour logic, there should also be no heterosexual womanizing, no dating or looking, no hand holding heterosexual kissing, or male-female touching in public allowed. Certainly no sex of any kind.

Perhaps all romance all marriage and all love should be outlawed, and no public affection of any kind by anyone should be permitted.
No "adffectionate friends" of any gender.

No, your logic is one sided and twisted. All men and women are created equal and must be afforded equal rights.

Good Morning Tom!

I don't think anyone would dispute that this young man's suicide is troubling, and that there is no excuse whatsoever with regard to these two young people's actions, for:  (1) The illicit stealth filming of the young man's romantic encounter; and, (2)  Posting the video on the web, without authorization.

Having said that, you bring up some interesting, and downright troubling allegations, some of which Mark, Jonathan, Dick, (I started "drafting" this response yesterday, and just now got back to it...Dinner At Moe's is right on the mark!!)  have addressed.

First, for anyone to take their own life demonstrates that they are/were mentally unbalanced in the first place.   By no means am I condoning the bullying by the couple who filmed this kid, but I don't see how they can be solely blamed for this kid taking his own life.

Second,  I just don't get the, "societal homophobia" claim.  I don't know how it is that you (or others)  would propose that we regulate people's actions to stop what you perceive as "societal homophobia.

I know that there are some folks who are looking for a reason to categorize or single out individuals, but in general, most people don't do this.  We don't give a crap who it is that you choose to hop in the sack with, as long as it is not paraded in front of us!

By the same token, and in the same breath, "Gay Rights" does not give you, or anyone the "right" or the ability to parade your "choices", or your "lifestyle"  out in public.   I don't want to know who it is that you sleep with....I don't want to know what it is that you do behind closed doors.  I don't want to know what anyone is doing behind closed doors!!!   This applies to straight, Gay, confused, whoever, but we just don't need to know!

The fact that many in the Gay community have nothing else to rest their laurels upon;  e.g; the only thing that they seem to be able to discuss, or to focus upon, is their sexuality, is also troubling, and is but one example of how shallow some of these individuals really are!

I cannot think of any straight person who depends solely upon who they like to have sex with, as the basis for their political beliefs, their choices in vacations, work, where they would choose to eat dinner, etc., etc., etc.  This seems to be the case with many in the Gay community.  All they can focus upon is their, "Gayness".  Frankly, I am tired of it.

I dunno where I am going with this....I only know that I am one of the most staunchest defenders of equal rights.   There comes a time however, when certain groups seem to want, "more rights";  they want additional privileges and protections than what the rest of Americans enjoy.   I am just as adamant about being opposed to such privileges.

Re: Take Action: Stop The Hate! Send A No More Suicides Letter to President Obama and Congress

Homophobia, just like Depression is a mental problem... lets eradicate Depression as well.... it too is rampant and societal.

Unless Mark has a homosexual child he has a strained relationship with I doubt he is causing these problems.

Most Jews, and Moslems, and Quakers, and blacks, and Asians etc etc do not commit suicide, even if many people in their general society dislike them.  Because they all at least have the support of their own family.

Tommy may not be smart enough to figure out that his own "liberal" Demwits are a main reason gays kill themselves.  Public schools that everyone is forced to go to are where most gays kids are bullied and called names and have to hide their identities cause suicide.  Parents of gay kids can't do anything about sending them to other more supportive schools since independent schools are almost outlawed de facto.

In addition, Democratic gays and lesbians like Hillary Rosen and Al Gore's campaign manager Donna Brazille are on TV all the time pretending to be straight so they can get more votes for Democrats.  Brazille even went into some borderline porn this summer on how Gov. Perry makes her coochie moist on ABC's "This Week," though everyone I know in DC knows the women she has dated.  So your gay political leaders who act ashamed of their sexual orientation are a major cause of the problem.

Maybe if you committed suicide by strapping on a bomb and going to one of your gay Democratic step 'n' fetchit meetings you would take out enough of your fellow bitches to reduce the gay teen suicide rates.

No Tommy, it is not. The urge to destroy oneself is as ancient as life itself. There are so very many reasons people do this to themselves, both real and unreal reasons. There is however ONE reason ALL suicides do this.... they are too weak to cope and that, Sir, is a personal problem. It is NOT societal, and NOT something that can be legislated that causes me to lose the freedom to ask if someone is Gay or Lesbian (for whatever reason) or to call someone a flaming Queen if they are acting like one.

Not much of a defense when prejudice of one kind or another exists in EVERY walk of life.

Re: Take Action: Stop The Hate! Send A No More Suicides Letter to President Obama and Congress

Wear a sign?

Should it say:

"I am a homosexual. Hit me. Kick Me. Abuse Me. Hurt Me."

What kind of sign would you suggest?

The solution is to eradicate homophobia.

Please explain which disease or weakness of the Psyche is not effected by ALL outside influences.... Depression is a weakness... if you want protected because you have it... wear a sign... do not expect different or special treatment by anyone unless you inform them all.

Again, to drive him over the edge he must have been doing something that he found so personally, morally or socially repugnant/unacceptable... for whatever reason and this is and was his OWN problem.

As to candid cameraman... prosecute him.... but NOT for the boys suicide (read the definition).

Depression is something more that a purely "psychological"
condition... it's "social", too. This young person suicide victim was
doing well enough until he was harassed (at least twice, apparently)
by his room-mate. The "victim" was definitely the "recipient" of the
act of being video-recorded in his sex acts (without his knowledge or
consent, against his will) anfd then having those video-recordings
broadcast to the public. This is a two part question of "psychology"
the psychology of the room-mate (as agent/patient) who performed the
act and the the psychology of the Victim (as patient/recipient)
first.. turned (as agent patient) into the performer of his own act of
suicide.

ROOM-MATE
I hate homos / want  them dead....I tolerate homos / they can live
C(BAD)..........R(BAD)....
I hate homos / they can live..........I tolerate homos / want them
dead

VICTIM
love oneself / live.... hate oneself / suicide
C(GOOD).......R(GOOD)....
love oneself / suicide... hate oneself / live

ROOM-MATE
Harass / Peep&Shame......Respect / Honor Privacy
C(BAD)....R(BAD)....
Harass / Honor Privacy......Respect / Peep&Shame

VICTIM
hate oneself / suicide......love oneself / live
C(BAD) .......R(BAD)......
hateoneself / live............love oneself / suicide

Basically, the VICTIM, after the "motivated act" of the ROOMMATE took
on the Sentiment (hate) and the intent (public shame) of the act that
was performed against him and acted as the ROOM-MATE "wanted" him
to.... he was "impresssionable", or appalled by the "cruelty" of
someone who could have (should have) been a "friend' (strictly that)
and decided to give the ROOM-MATE what he desired...... personally, my
moral compass (and sense of justice) tells me that he should have
killed the ROOM-MATE, instead.
