Occupy Celebrates It's One Year Birthday as Only Occupy Can…with More Arrests

AP — NEW YORK — Police say more than 100 people have been arrested as Occupy Wall Street protesters march in small groups around Manhattan's financial district to mark the anniversary of the grass-roots movement.

Police also removed four protesters in wheelchairs after they blocked a busy street Monday.

Loud chanting and the sound of drums filled the air. The demonstrators clogged traffic, and dozens of police officers and vans lined the streets.

But the protests lacked the heft of last year's Occupy events. Last year there were thousands of protesters. On Monday morning, there were a few hundred at most.

Earlier, they gathered across from Zuccotti Park, the site of the movement's birth.

If you think, for one moment, that we are going to somehow effect or change the existence of Israel, you are sadly mistaken.

I believe that our foreign policy, and our Israeli policy should insist on the original UN mandate, that there also be a Palestinian State. That is hard to accomplish, when most of the Arabs will not acknowledge Israel's right to existence.
