Time for Ron Paul to Help the Republican Party
"Sure, we used you, then stabbed you in the back, lied to and about you, and treated you as if you either didn't exist or should be considered the enemy of all that's good and decent, but shouldn't you put that all aside and support us now, in spite of the fact that we are irredeemably corrupt and entirely unprincipled?" -- William N. Grigg
Time for Ron Paul to Help the Republican Party
By Richard A. Viguerie | 9/10/12
In 1996, when libertarian icon Ron Paul was running for re-election to Congress as a Republican, a challenger filed against him in the General Election. This challenger wasn't an establishment Republican or a liberal Democrat, he was a Natural Law Party candidate whose national platform included much of Ron Paul's agenda.
In the key swing state of Virginia, former Republican Congressman Virgil Goode has qualified to be on the ballot as the Constitution Party's candidate and former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson has qualified in states across the country as the Libertarian Party candidate, despite running in the Republican primary elections and demanding to be included in the televised Republican primary debates.
In states like Montana, where there are close Senate races, Libertarian candidates are pulling votes from solid conservative candidates, like Republican Congressman Denny Rehberg, who is locked in a race with Democratic Senator Jon Tester that could determine control of the U.S. Senate.
The peculiar tendency for libertarians and constitutionalists to turn on anyone who works to change the Republican Party from within has reared its ugly head again this year in the aftermath of the Republican National Convention.
Admittedly, Ron Paul and his delegates to the Convention were treated in a ham handed way by establishment Republicans – but that is hardly cause to hand the election to Barack Obama and control of the Senate to the Democrats.
However, this is not really a new phenomenon – it has been going on since the 1950s, when William F. Buckley, Jr. began arguing that conservatives should take over the Republican Party and others, such as author Ayn Rand, argued for a separate movement.
The result has been the fairly steady advance – with occasional halts – of conservative ideas and the election of many conservative-minded candidates by the Republican Party.
On the other hand, Libertarians and constitutionalists, while they have gained some recognition and added to their numbers, haven't actually been electing candidates.
Congressman Ron Paul admitted as much when he said no one would have paid any attention to him or his ideas if he had run as a Libertarian, and there is no doubt that Rand Paul would not be a U.S. Senator if he had run as a Libertarian, instead of as a Republican.
Inspired in some measure by Congressman Paul, Libertarian ideas continue to gain currency in the Republican Party. There is a strong current of libertarian economic policy in today's Republican Party with Friedman, von Mises and Hayek being where Republicans look for economic first principles. The fact that the Republicans are willing to explore such libertarian ideas as returning to the gold standard speaks to the openness Republicans have to libertarian thought, particularly on economics.
However, there is good news and bad news in those wonderful ideas.
The good news is that while as yet imperfectly realized, Republicans have become the Party of less regulation, lower taxes and more personal freedom -- this certainly hasn't always been the case when one considers that less than 40 years ago the EPA was established under Republican President Richard Nixon.
The bad news is that many libertarians pride themselves on being destroyers, and when they lose a primary or otherwise don't get their way, rather than cinching-up their belts and selling themselves and their ideas harder, they try to teach Republicans a lesson by causing them to lose.
If this is a bad way to sell your ideas in the best of times, it is downright dangerous to the future of the country in this election. Four more years of President Obama will take generations to undo – that is, if the economic damage and institutionalization of a culture of dependency can be undone at all.
Conservatives have been steadily working a plan envisioned by "the Buckley generation" for over 50 years. We have made great progress in the Republican Party, and more importantly, in public opinion at large.
When over 70% of those responding to the Gallup Poll say the greatest threat to freedom is big government, we conservatives and libertarians should see that as a sign American opinion is moving in our direction.
A vote for Virgil Goode or Gary Johnson is the same as a vote for Barack Obama. The future of this country is more important than the personal slights and short term wins or losses that any candidate and his adherents might suffer.
It is time for Congressman Ron Paul and his partisans to join the movement to beat Obama, and however grudgingly, give their support to Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan, and the Republican candidates for Senate and Congress. There will be plenty of opportunities to advance their agenda when Obama is gone, but very few if he stays.

Re: Paying taxes doesn’t allow Atheists, nor any group , to dictate to others.
That may be how you keep them, and as you even admit, "protect" them, but that is not where they originate. Again, where do unalienable rights come from? Where are they generated?

Re: I sense some uneasy frustration from Republitards...
The system is broken, it has
been caused solely by communists who have infiltrated the Democrat
Party,
----
In the thirties, America was plagued by the Great Depression. I was
proud of my father's family because they fought for workers' rights
and a better world. Franklin Delano Roosevelt, on the promise of a
New Deal, was elected president in 1932, an office he held until his
death in 1945. The Jews, Communist or otherwise, worshiped
Roosevelt. That worship was little diminished by Roosevelt's failure
to bomb the extermination camps or to allow Jews, even those fleeing
the Holocaust, to enter the U.S. He would not allow the Jews on the
St. Louis to disembark, leaving them to their fate, which was a return
to Europe and death. It was of no concern to U.S. Jews that the New
Deal was unconstitutional or ultimately was proven to have extended
the Depression. And it was of no concern to the Jewish leadership
that Jews were dying by the millions in the Holocaust.
The Jews remained loyal to the Democratic Party throughout. They also
remained loyal to liberalism and secularism. Communism was embraced
because it offered an antidote to discrimination and persecution as it
existed in Russia and in America in the first half of the 20th
century; you know, "Workers of the World, Unite!" Even though
Communism proved to be a false God, duly noted by Kunstler's The God
That Failed, the Jews continued their quest for equality and civil
rights. They believe as a result in the separation of church and
state and the responsibility of the state to provide for those in
need.
After 2,000 years of Christian anti-Semitism and discrimination, is it
any wonder? To them, the present was never worth preserving. To the
contrary, it needed to be transformed. First, the Jews focused on
workers' rights and union rights in America. Then they led the civil
rights movement, which resulted in the liberation of blacks. Not that
the blacks appreciated it. In fact, black anti-Semitism is very high
compared to other groups. They see the Jews as responsible for black
exploitation rather than black liberation.
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) was formed in 1920 by a
group of radicals, socialists, and Communists whose purpose was to
defend their fellow radicals. The founders were not Jewish. Twenty
years later, the ACLU banned Communists from positions of leadership
and from its staff. Over the years, Jews became very influential in
this organization.
The ACLU's stated goals were "to defend and preserve the individual
rights and liberties that the Constitution and laws of the United
States guarantee everyone in this country." It was prominent in the
Scopes trial of 1925, which hoped to ban the teaching of evolution in
the public schools; it stood alone in fighting the internment camps
for the Japanese after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor; and it
paired with the NAACP to challenge racial segregation in public
schools. The resulting Supreme Court decision in Brown v. Board of
Education that ended the era of "separate but equal" was a major
victory for racial justice. The ACLU was also involved in the 1973
Supreme Court victories in Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton, which held
that the right to privacy encompasses a woman's right to decide
whether she will terminate or continue a pregnancy. It even fought in
defense of freedom of speech, for the rights of Nazis to march against
Jews in Skokie, Illinois. It led the attack against the Patriot Act.
The ACLU's activities have been characterized as anti-God, anti-
American, and anti-family, all notable communist goals. Yet the ACLU
did what it did in the name of individual rights. Although the ACLU
lobbies Congress and state legislatures, its accomplishments derive
chiefly from judges who share the ACLU's view of the Constitution as a
"living document." There is little if any daylight between them and
the Democratic Party and Barack Obama. And they are all pro-
uncontrolled immigration.
A fellow traveler of the ACLU is the Anti-Defamation League (ADL),
which was formed in 1913 "to stop the defamation of the Jewish people
and to secure justice and fair treatment to all." It has served a
useful purpose and has done good work but, according to Bill Levinson,
has strayed from its charter. Levinson charges that "[t]he ADL has
also become a facilitator and enabler of the very hate-mongers it
claims to oppose," that it shilled for President Obama by proposing
"National Pledge for Unity on Israel," that it was and is an advocate
against Second Amendment Rights to bear arms, and that it is a
defender of sharia.
Rabbi Nachum Shifren is not so kind. He writes, "The ADL has nothing
to do with Judaism, Jews, or Jewish Survival. It is a collection of
communists, anarchists, Jewish 60's [sic] drop-outs, bitter about
their nothing status and eager to spread their venom about a socialist
paradise at which they believe only they can succeed. (The earlier
Bolsheviks and Trotskyite's [sic], they assure us, just didn't get it
right.! [sic])" (Emphases in the original.)
Unfortunately, liberal Jews don't see it that way. They continue to
worship the ACLU and the ADL.
Is it any wonder, then, that 78% of the Jews voted for Barack Obama in
'08 and his goal of "transformation of America," notwithstanding his
pro-Palestinian and anti-American running dogs? Most Jews still
support Obama, notwithstanding his very anti-Israel policies.
This is not to say that all Jews, or even many of them, are Communists
or anti-Americans. They aren't. America has been good to them, and
they know it. Having been denied civil and human rights for at least
a thousand years, they have become fierce defenders of such rights as
they see them.
It has been said of the Jews that they earn like Episcopalians and
vote like Hispanics. Obviously their economic success and connection
to Israel are not enough to separate them from the Democratic Party.
The two groups are joined at the hip.

Re: Obama 'cancelled missions to kill bin Laden THREE TIMES after getting cold feet
I think what you are trying to avoid here Studio, is that we had a President who for months, went on and on and on and on about how he "killed" (and proudly said "killed" Osama bin Laden. Now, we have a bunch of communists at election time, trying to act as if the world is safer because of the Obama Administration, when it was Obama himself who voted against each and every measure to try and capture Osama, as well as all members of al Queida, while he was a Senator.
What you wrote is spin. What the Obama Administration has done, is lied to the American people.

At 1: 35 in the segment, O-bomb-a states:"Our preference is always to capture if we can, because we can gather intelligence."But when the U.S. military had allegedly captured the NUMBER ONE terrorist in the world (at least in the U.S. government's eyes), Osama bin Laden, who was UNARMED and NOT RESISTING, they shot him in cold blood??? Do you think that perhaps the NUMBER ONE terrorist in the world might have had a wee bit of intelligence that would have been useful to the United States government??? Hmmm???
The only thing anyone cares about; is that he's dead... not what his

Wasn't it Bush Jr. who said; he WASN'T important now?
I love it when anyone uses the term "intelligence" to depict someone
with zero intellect.
Intelligence: is information valued for its currency and relevance
rather than its detail or accuracy.
They did EXACTLY the right thing: shoot first and ask questions later.
