Subject: GSA Squandering Taxpayer Dollars; A Pattern of Mismanagement, Excess and Waste

US Congressman John Mica - 7th District of Florida - Ranking Member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee

Dear Friends,

I wanted to share with you an interview I gave this week concerning the General Services Administration (GSA) and its offensive spending of your hard-earned taxpayer dollars.

As you may have heard, the GSA spent over $820,000 in the fall of 2010 on a Las Vegas junket at taxpayer expense.  On the bill for this atrocious spending were such items as mind readers, clowns and swag bags.  Upon the release of the Investigator General's report, which I had requested, I immediately held a hearing to get to the bottom of this and ensure that this waste would not continue.

To view the video, please click here

Three years ago when I became Republican Leader of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, (which oversees public buildings which GSA administers), I commissioned a report entitled "Sitting on our Assets", detailing the rampant waste and abuse of taxpayer funds by the GSA.  Last year, in the cold of winter, I dragged GSA bureaucrats to an abandoned 14,000 square foot building in Washington with no heat to prove a point: that this waste would not continue.  These two instances are only the tip of the iceberg, and I pledge to you that I will not rest until the root cause of this waste is found and those responsible are held accountable.

With my regards and best wishes, I remain

John L. Mica
Member of Congress

The Gay Left goes nuts. Again.

Early this month the first open lesbian was elected to the Republican National Committee.  Jill Homan, a commercial real estate asset manager, was elected to be Washington DC's representative to the Republican National Committee.

The gay press and the gay leftovers largely ignored that.  But then Mitt Romney appointed John Bolton's United Nation's press person, Richard Grenell, to be his campaign spokesperson on Friday.  Richard Grenell is openly gay.  (The domestically libertarianish Bolton, like Dick Cheney, supports gay marriage.)

Bloodcurdling screams erupted from the party that wants to tax gays and lesbians to pay for Sandra Fluke's contraception.  Or at least hysterical hissing.  A nest of little gay leftover blogs has been attempting to smear Mr. Grenell over the weekend, digging for anything they could find.  So far they found a sarcastic tweet where he said Rachel Maddow has a rather mannish appearance.  High dudgeon ensued from gay socialist half wits who think Rachel Maddow is the height of intellectual journalism.  (Ms. Maddow's contributions to campaign 2012 coverage to date include a delusional report that New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson was endorsing Ron Paul, when he was actually dropping out of the Republican race and the Republican Party to seek the Libertarian nomination.)

Democracy Now reports:

"The European Union has agreed to share the private information of passengers flying from Europe to the United States with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

"On Thursday, the European Parliament approved a pact that will grant the U.S. access to passengers' date of birth, credit card information, seat number and dietary preference prior to departure.

"European lawmakers had waged a five-year campaign to scale back the sharing of passenger data with U.S. authorities."
