SAD NEWS: Rep. Sue Myrick (R-NC), gutsy anti-CAIR/anti-Jihadist activist to retire

by barenakedislam

Rep. Sue Myrick (R-NC) announced recently that after 18 years in Congress she will retire. But in the process, Myrick leaves behind a lengthy record famous for hard-hitting, biting condemnations of Muslim infiltration of the United States.

TPM  In October 2009, Myrick joined with thee other House members, Paul Broun (R-GA), Trent Franks (R-AZ), and John Shadegg (R-AZ), to call for an investigation of Muslim interns on Capitol Hill. The allegation was that they were part of a radical Islamist conspiracy sponsored by terror-linked CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations) to infiltrate the House of Representatives, by seeking positions on key national security-related committees.

The source was a book, Muslim Mafia: Inside the Secret Underworld That's Conspiring to Islamize America, based on a co-writer's infiltration of the Council on American-Islamic Relations disguised as a recent Muslim convert. (The same author has also referred to President Obama as "our Muslim leader.") Myrick wrote the foreword for the book, which was published by World Net Daily .

Myrick also alleged that CAIR's advocacy work on Capitol Hill amounted to lobbying, and called for the IRS to probe the group's non-profit status. A week later, Myrick and her compatriots officially filed a request with the House Seargent-At-Arms. Unbelievably, no no action was taken.

In January 2010, she launched a video series on YouTube, to discuss these security threats. "There is a lot of radicalization on the Internet today; there is radicalization in the mosques; there are people who have been indoctrinated into the same line of thinking that are now in positions in our government," Myrick says in the "Beyond Terrorism" episode. "All of this is tied together. And we want to bring this to you over a period of time, so you can be educated."

Then in March 2010, she continued to defend her comments from 2003, about the people who run convenience stores. The context, she said, was a case in which a group of North Carolina-based men smuggled cigarettes and funneled the profits to the Lebanese group Hezbollah.

And in June and July of 2010, she capped it off by warning of the ultimate foreign threat:Middle Eastern agents of Hezbollah joining Latino gangs, and sneaking across our southern border disguised as immigrants

"It really bothers me because here we are with a porous border, not really paying attention to who is coming over, what's happening with Iran and Hugo Chavez and Venezuela," Myrick said on Fox News. "We know that there are people going to Venezuela learning Spanish and then coming up through Mexico with fake documents trying to cross the border. If they're stopped they say, 'Well, I'm Mexican' or Spanish."

Myrick also added that a "border agent who really knows the difference in their language can tell that they aren't Mexican. And so it's very difficult if the agents aren't really trained in linguistics to know that and they get across."

Dependency Index Surges 23% Under President Obama

The American public's dependence on the federal government shot up 23% in just two years under President Obama, with 67 million now relying on some federal program, according to a newly released study by the Heritage Foundation.

The conservative think tank's annual Index of Dependence on Government tracks money spent on housing, health, welfare, education subsidies and other federal programs that were "traditionally provided to needy people by local organizations and families."

The two-year increase under Obama is the biggest two-year jump since Jimmy Carter was president, the data show.

The rise was driven mainly by increases in housing subsidies, an expansion in Medicaid and changes to the welfare system, along with a sharp rise in food stamps, the study found.
"You can't get around the fact that policy decisions made over the past two years, on top of those made over the past several decades, are having a large effect on the pace of growth of the index," said William Beach, who authored the Heritage study.

Government dependence has climbed steadily since 1962, when the index stood at 19. By 1980, the index had risen to 100. It stood at 294 in 2010, the last year for which the data are available. D.C.-based Heritage has produced the index for nine years.
The report also found that spending on "dependence programs" accounts for more than 70% of the federal budget. That, too, is up dramatically. In 1990, for example, the figure stood at 48.5%, and in 1962 just over a quarter of federal spending went to dependence programs.

At the same time, fewer Americans pay income taxes, the report notes. Almost half (49.5%) didn't pay income taxes in 2009, the latest year for which the researchers have data. Back in the late 1960s, only 12% of Americans escaped the income tax burden.

Other findings:
The number of people dependent on the federal government shot up 7.5% in the past two years.
In 2010, for the first time ever, average spending on dependence programs per recipient exceeded the country's per-capita disposable income.

The dependency index has dipped only seven times in the past 49 years, three of which were under President Reagan and two under President Clinton.

Some observers say the rise in dependence under Obama is merely a reflection of the deep and long recession.
But Beach says his team's research shows that economic effects account for only one-fifth of the change in the index.

Ken Livingstone in Tory 'riddled with homosexuals' row

</mail/u/0/s/?view=att&th=1355ebe03ccd08da&attid=0.1.1&disp=emb&zw> Ken Livingstone also said Baroness Thatcher was "clinically insane" while prime minister

Conservative MPs have called for Labour's candidate for London mayor to apologise for saying their party is "riddled" with homosexuals.

Ken Livingstone said some Tory MPs denounce homosexuality, while secretly "indulging".

Two Tory MPs have written to Labour leader Ed Miliband calling on him to ensure the remarks get retracted.

Mr Livingstone's spokesman said the fact gay people represent most parties is a good thing.

Discussing the issue of privacy in during an interview in the New Statesmen magazine, Mr Livingstone said: "[The public] should be allowed to know everything, except the nature of private relationships - unless there is hypocrisy, like some Tory MP denouncing homosexuality while they are indulging in it."

Asked why he referred particularly to Conservative MPs, he added: "Well, the Labour ones have all come out.

"As soon as [former Prime Minister Tony] Blair got in, if you came out as lesbian or gay you immediately got a job. It was wonderful.

"You just knew the Tory party was riddled with it like everywhere else is."

'Offensive remarks'

He also said in the interview that Baroness Thatcher was "clinically insane" while prime minister.

Conservative MP Angie Bray said: "These are the sort of offensive remarks we hear all too often from Labour's candidate for mayor.

"Ed Miliband should condemn these outrageous comments and get him to apologise immediately."

A spokesperson for Ken Livingstone said: "Ken is clearly saying the advance of lesbian and gay people into politics is unequivocally a good thing.

"He has fought for equality for gay and lesbian people throughout his life, and the fact they are represented in all major political parties is a sign of the progress that has been made."

In an interview with the same magazine, current mayor Boris Johnson said his proudest boast was to have "delivered a sound, progressive administration of London over the last four years, which has cut tax and cut crime".

Mr Livingstone said that, if elected, he would restore 1,700 police jobs and cut public transport fares.

**JP** Thinking higher than the people's Expectations.

----- Original Message -----

A man saw a little poor boy looking at his expensive car,

He took the boy for a drive,

The boy said your car is so marvelous & it must be too expensive.

How much it cost?

Man: I don't know my brother has gifted me.

Boy: Wow so nice of him.

Man: I know what you are thinking; you also want to have a car like it?

Boy: No! I want to be a brother like him!

Always

Thinking higher than the people's Expectations.

Congress rating drops to new low, mere 10 percent approve

Congress rating drops to new low

By SEUNG MIN KIM | 2/8/12 3:03 PM EST Updated: 2/8/12 7:50 PM EST
Just when you didn't think Congress could get any worse in the eyes of
the public, it has.

Gallup said in new poll Wednesday that a mere 10 percent of 1,029
participants approve of Congress's performance – a record low for the
respected polling outfit. Congress's job approval rating was 13
percent in January and 11 percent in December.

Independents, at 8 percent, are most likely to disapprove of Congress,
Gallup said. And Democrats and Republicans are about equally disgusted
with lawmakers, giving them respective 11 percent and 12 percent
approval ratings.

The average job approval rating for all of 2011 was 17 percent,
according to Gallup.

The latest numbers come as Congress is again bickering over how to
extend a temporary payroll tax cut that affects 160 million Americans,
as well as jobless benefits and a delay of steep payment cuts for
doctors who provide Medicare.

The tax cut and other provisions expire at the end of the month.
Lawmakers are at loggerheads over how to pay for an extension, as well
as some policy changes affecting unemployment insurance.

"It is notable that President [Barack] Obama has continued to make
criticism of Congress a part of his broad presidential reelection
strategy," Gallup's Frank Newport wrote in his analysis.

The poll was conducted Feb. 2 through Feb. 5 and surveyed 1,029
adults. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 points.
