Re: Flashback: Milton Friedman Schools Phil Donahue on Why Socialism Always Fails

 Thanks for sharing this Travis!

I was not all that familiar with Milton Friedman,  (I knew who he was, and have even read some of his papers and articles that he has written)  but I had never listened to Milton Friedman prior to this;  and Friedman is absolutely prophetic!

I encourage everyone to take a listen to this guy....He does "school" Donahue,  in a very non-condescending kind of way.   In Segment Two,  Friedman actually discusses the old Interstate Commerce Commission, where Donahue believes that the demise of the ICC would be catastrophic for the U.S. and the freight industry.  That Sears and K-Mart,  (perish the thought!)  could merge and be the demise of retail shopping for consumers!  This show was filmed in 1979,  which was 26 years before Sears and K-Mart merged.

Segment 3  & 4 is a chapter right out of the "M.J. & Plain Ol Explain Dr. Paul's Economic Theory";  Dr. Friedman also touches upon the Black unemployment rate in the inner cities.

Segment Five continues with his conservative/Libertarian economic theories, (while Donahue and many of his studio audience continue to play "New Millennium Socialist Wacko Moonbats".   Dr. Friedman touches upon the school "Voucher System", and the precepts of socialized medicine  which was virtually unheard of back in 1979.

Friedman  is truly a "Conservative-Libertarian";  from the Reagan era mold.  Again.....This was filmed thirty three years ago, and is just absolutely prophetic:  "Everything Changes....Nothing Changes...."
