Good Morning,
I just checked this morning, and it appears that the Google "Snafu" of opening messages directly from the web site to the group has been somewhat corrected. The way I was able to get in and look at the actual messages, in Internet Explorer 9, was by converting to the "New Improved Google Groups"; (which sucks) which allowed me to view the messages. I was then able to convert back to the "Old View" and was still able to see the messages and attachments.
It does look as if the old version of the Group is short lived however.
