Probably contraband Cuban cigars. No, wait, that's the libertarians.
Punchlines aside, if Santorum and Romney fail to cripple one another
in the primaries, and Romney gets the top role, he might do a Reagan
and nominate Santorum for VP. My hunch is that Santorum would take the
job.
This might pose problems for Obama. It helps erase the fear many
Republicans have for Romney and his left-of-center past by putting a
fairly far-right person as the next in line (call is assassination-
proofing, much like choosing Biden, Cheney, Gore or Quayle). It also
allows Santorum to be the election's pit bull and letting Romney look
more the statesman (well, at least more the consultant).
