Exclusive: Lobbying Firm's Memo Spells Out Plan to Undermine Occupy Wall Street

A well-known Washington lobbying firm with links to the financial industry has proposed an $850,000 plan to take on Occupy Wall Street and politicians who might express sympathy for the protests, according to a memo obtained by the MSNBC program "Up w/ Chris Hayes."
The proposal was written on the letterhead of the lobbying firm Clark Lytle Geduldig & Cranford and addressed to one of CLGC's clients, the American Bankers Association.
CLGC's memo proposes that the ABA pay CLGC $850,000 to conduct "opposition research" on Occupy Wall Street in order to construct "negative narratives" about the protests and allied politicians. The memo also asserts that Democratic victories in 2012 would be detrimental for Wall Street and targets specific races in which it says Wall Street would benefit by electing Republicans instead.
According to the memo, if Democrats embrace OWS, "This would mean more than just short-term political discomfort for Wall Street. … It has the potential to have very long-lasting political, policy and financial impacts on the companies in the center of the bullseye."
The memo also suggests that Democratic victories in 2012 should not be the ABA's biggest concern. "… (T)he bigger concern," the memo says, "should be that Republicans will no longer defend Wall Street companies."
Two of the memo's authors, partners Sam Geduldig and Jay Cranford, previously worked for House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio. Geduldig joined CLGC before Boehner became speaker; Cranford joined CLGC this year after serving as the speaker's assistant for policy. A third partner, Steve Clark, is reportedly "tight" with Boehner, according to a story by Roll Callthat CLGC features on its website.
Jeff Sigmund, an ABA spokesperson, confirmed that the association got the memo. "Our Government Relations staff did receive the proposal – it was unsolicited and we chose not to act on it in any way," he said in a statement to "Up."
CLGC did not return calls seeking comment.
Boehner spokesman Michael Steel declined to comment on the memo. But he responded to its characterization of Republicans as defenders of Wall Street by saying, "My understanding is that President Obama is the single largest recipient of donations from Wall Street."
The CLGC memo raises another issue that it says should be of concern to the financial industry -- that OWS might find common cause with the Tea Party. "Well-known Wall Street companies stand at the nexus of where OWS protestors and the Tea Party overlap on angered populism," the memo says. "…This combination has the potential to be explosive later in the year when media reports cover the next round of bonuses and contrast it with stories of millions of Americans making do with less this holiday season."

The memo outlines a 60-day plan to conduct surveys and research on OWS and its supporters so that Wall Street companies will be prepared to conduct a media campaign in response to OWS. Wall Street companies "likely will not be the best spokespeople for their own cause," according to the memo. "A big challenge is to demonstrate that these companies still have political strength and that making them a political target will carry a severe political cost."
Part of the plan CLGC proposes is to do "statewide surveys in at least eight states that are shaping up to be the most important of the 2012 cycle."
Specific races listed in the memo are U.S. Senate races in Florida, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Wisconsin, Ohio, New Mexico and Nevada as well as the gubernatorial race in North Carolina.
The memo indicates that CLGC would research who has contributed financial backing to OWS, noting that, "Media reports have speculated about associations with George Soros and others."
"It will be vital," the memo says, "to understand who is funding it and what their backgrounds and motives are. If we can show that they have the same cynical motivation as a political opponent it will undermine their credibility in a profound way."

It seems that Imran Khan is captured by the people of vested interests. He started his political career as a 'Muslim Hero" then suddenly he becomes "liberal". It seems that he is not clear about what he want to b? Then how can he lead us?

Secondly, his party is joining by the old, cunning and bad reputed politicians of Q-League, their presence have raised some doubts in our minds regarding the party policy and the ruling policy of our country under these ministers.

Imran needs to review his vision and mission seriously because ruling the country is not a joke......

لاہور/کراچی(نمائندہ جسارت+اسٹاف رپورٹر) امیر جماعت اسلامی پاکستان سید منور حسن کی اپیل پر بھارت کو پسندیدہ ملک قرار دیے جانے کیخلاف ملک گیریوم احتجاج منایا گیا' علمائے کرام نے جمعہ کے خطبات میں حکومت کے اس اقدام کی شدید مذمت کرتے ہوئے اس فیصلے سے باز رہنے کا مطالبہ کیا ' نماز جمعہ کے بعد صوبائی اور ضلعی صدر مقامات پر احتجاجی ریلیاں نکالی گئیں اور مظاہرے کیے گئے ۔ مظاہرین نے حکومت کے اس فیصلے کو بھارت کی بالادستی تسلیم کرنے اور کشمیریوں کی جدوجہد آزادی کو شدید نقصان پہنچانے کے مترادف قرا ر دیا اور مطالبہ کیا کہ بھارت جیسے ازلی دشمن کے ساتھ تجارت نہ کی جائے۔ امیر جماعت اسلامی پاکستان سید منور حسن نے جامع مسجد منصورہ میں جمعہ کے بڑے اجتماع سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے کہاکہ قوم پاکستان کے جوہری اثاثوں کی طرف بڑھتے ہوئے یہود و ہنود کے ناپاک قدموں کو روکنے کے لیے اٹھ کھڑی ہو اور ایک بڑی تحریک کے ذریعے امریکا اور اس کے غلام حکمرانوں سے نجات حاصل کرے ورنہ غیرت و حمیت سے عاری حکمران کشمیر کی طرح پاکستان کی آزادی بھی تجارت کی نذر کردیں گے ۔ انہوں نے کہاکہ دونوں ملکوں کے سیکرٹریز تجارت درآمدو برآمد ہونے والے مال کی فہرستیں مرتب کر چکے ہیں جبکہ وزیراعظم ابھی تک بھارت کو پسندیدہ ملک قرار دینے کے بارے میں قوم کی آنکھوں میں دھول جھونک رہے ہیں ۔ عسکری قیادت کو اعتماد میں لے کر بھارت سے تجارت کرنے کے وزیراعظم کے بیان کے بعد فوجی قیادت کے لیے قوم کے سامنے اپنی پوزیشن واضح کرنا ضروری ہو گیاہے ۔انہوں نے کہا کہ بھارت کشمیر میں ظلم و جبر کے ذریعے ہماری گردن کو جتنا زیادہ مروڑتا ہے ، ہمارے بے حس حکمران اسی قدر بھارت کے ساتھ پیار کی پینگیں بڑھاتے ہیں ۔ سید منور حسن نے کہاکہ سارک کانفرنس میں بھارتی وزیراعظم نے ہمارے وزیراعظم پر غصہ اتارتے ہوئے دھمکی دی کہ ممبئی جیسے واقعات کا اعادہ نہیں ہوناچاہیے اور پاکستان اپنے ہاں دہشتگردوں پر قابو پائے لیکن پاکستان کی نمائندگی کرنے والے وزیراعظم دو ٹوک جواب دینے کے بجائے خاموشی سے واپس چلے آئے۔ بھارت نے سارک کانفرنس کو پوری منصوبہ بندی کے ساتھ پاکستان کے خلاف استعمال کیا۔ انہوںنے کہاکہ پاکستان کو سوچے سمجھے منصوبے کے تحت توانائی کے شعبے میں کنگال کر کے صنعتیں بند اور مزدوروں کو بے روزگار کیا گیا ۔ دریں اثنا ملتان روڈ پر جماعت اسلامی لاہور کے زیر اہتمام بھارت کو تجارت کے لیے پسندیدہ ملک قرار دینے کے خلاف زبردست احتجاجی مظاہرہ کیا گیا ۔ مظاہرین سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے سیکرٹری جنرل جماعت اسلامی پاکستان لیاقت بلوچ نے کہاکہ وفاقی کابینہ کے اس فیصلے کو عوامی تائید حاصل نہیں ۔ ماضی میں کسی حکومت کو ایسے غیر مقبول فیصلے کرنے کی جرا

¿ت نہیں ہوئی۔ بھارت عالمی قوتوں کو اشتعال دلا کر پاکستان کے ایٹمی اثاثوں کو ختم کرنا چاہتاہے ۔ حکومت نے گزشتہ ساڑھے 3 برس میں عوام کو مسائل کی دلدل میں دھکیلنے کے علاوہ کوئی کام نہیں کیا ۔ اب وہ کشمیر کی تحریک آزادی کی پیٹھ میں چھرا گھونپ رہی ہے ۔ انہوں نے کہاکہ امریکا بھارت کے ذریعے پاکستان اور چین کے گہرے مراسم کو ختم کرنا چاہتاہے ۔انہوںنے کہاکہ صدر پاکستان کے ایما پر پاکستانی سفیر کے ذریعے بھیجے گئے میمورنڈم کے معاملے کا سپریم کورٹ از خود نوٹس لے اس سے بڑھ کر کوئی غداری نہیں ہو سکتی،اس پر پارلیمنٹ کا مشترکہ اجلاس بلا یاجائے۔ مظاہرین سے امیرجماعت اسلامی لاہور امیر العظیم اور جنرل سیکرٹری ذکر اللہ مجاہد نے بھی خطاب کیا۔جماعت اسلامی اسلام آباد کے زیراہتمام نیشنل پریس کلب کے سامنے مظاہرہ ہوا ۔ امیر جماعت اسلامی اسلام آباد میاں محمد اسلم اور نائب امیر زبیر فاروق نے مظاہرین سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے بھارت کو ایم ایف کا درجہ دینے کی مذمت کی ۔سکھر میں امیر جماعت اسلامی سندھ اسد اللہ بھٹو کی زیر قیادت مظاہرہ کیا گیا۔ مظاہرین سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے صوبائی امیر اسد اللہ بھٹو نے حکومتی فیصلے کی شدید الفاظ میں مذمت کرتے ہوئے کہا کہبھارت کی جانب سے پاکستان کی سالمیت کے خلاف مذموم عزائم اور پاکستان دشمن کارروائیوں کے باوجود حکومت کی جانب سے اسے پسندیدہ قرار دیا جانا پاکستان کے قومی مفاد کے خلاف اقدام ہی، حکومت اسلام و پاکستان دشمن ممالک کی خوشنودی کے لیے ملک و قوم کے مفاد کے برخلاف چل رہی ہے ،قوم نے اس فیصلہ کو مسترد کردیا ہی، حکومت فی الفور فیصلہ واپس لے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ پیپلز پارٹی اور اس کے اتحادیوں کی حکومت امریکا اور بھارت اور اسرائیل کی خوشنودی کے لیے بھارت کو پسندیدہ ملک قرار دینے کے فیصلے کر رہی ہے ، یہ فیصلہ ملکی وقار اورقومی مفادات کے خلاف ہے۔حسین آگاہی چوک ملتان میں احتجاجی مظاہرہ ہوا جس سے امیر جماعت اسلامی ملتان افتخار چوہدری ، ڈاکٹر حفیظ انور اور ڈاکٹر اشرف علی عتیق نے خطاب کیا۔ پشاور پریس کلب کے باہر بھی احتجاجی مظاہرہ ہوا جس سے جماعت اسلامی خیبر پختونخوا کے سیکرٹری جنرل شبیر احمد خان ، امیر جماعت اسلامی پشاور بحراللہ ودیگر مقررین نے بھارت کونہایت پسندیدہ قرار دینے کی شدید مذمت کی ۔جماعت اسلامی بلوچستان کے تحت کوئٹہ اور دیگر اضلاع میں بھی ریلیاں اور مظاہرے کیے گئے ۔ علاوہ ازیںجماعت اسلامی کراچی کے تحت بعد نماز جمعہ جامع مسجد الاخوان نیو کراچی میں بھی احتجاجی مظاہرہ کیا گیا۔احتجاجی مظاہرے سے ضلع وسطی کے امیر فاروق نعمت اللہ خان اور نیو کراچی کے امیر خالد صدیقی نے خطاب کیا۔ مظاہرے میں عوام نے بڑی تعداد میں شرکت کی جنہوں نے اپنے ہاتھوں میں بینرز اور پلے کارڈز اٹھا رکھے تھے جن پر بھارت کو پسندیدہ ملک قرار دینے کے فیصلے کے خلاف نعرے درج تھے ۔

ہے جس میں اسامہ بن لادن کومدد اور پناہ فراہم کرنیوالوں کا پتا چلانے کیلئے آزادانہ انکوائری ،القاعدہ ودہشت گردگروپوں کی باقی رہ جانے والی قیادت کیخلاف پاکستانی سرزمین پر امریکی فورسز کی کارروائی کی اجازت دینے ،پاکستانی ایٹمی اثاثوں کومزید شفاف بنانے ،آئی ایس آئی کے سیکشن "S"کوختم کرنے اور ممبئی حملوں کے ذمہ داروں کیخلاف کارروائی کی یقین دہانی شامل ہے۔جمعہ کو امریکی اخبار "واشنگٹن پوسٹ "نے امریکی فوج کے سربراہ مائیک مولن کو لکھا گیا حساس اور پاکستان میں ہلچل مچانے والا میموشائع کیا ہے تاہم یہ تصدیق نہیں کی جا سکتی کہ کیا یہ وہی میمو ہے جس کی مائیک مولن نے اپنے ترجمان گیٹن جان کیری کے ذریعے موصول ہونے کی تصدیق کی ہے۔ایبٹ آباد میں اسامہ بن لادن کی امریکی افواج کے آپریشن میں ہلاکت کے بعد لکھے گئے اس میمو میں پاکستان کی جمہوری حکومت کو ملٹری اسٹیبلشمنٹ کی جانب سے لاحق خطرات کا ذکر ہے۔ اس میمو میں کہا گیا ہے کہ صدر آصف علی زرداری ان الزامات کے بارے میں ایک آزادانہ انکوائری کا حکم دیں گے کہ پاکستان نے اسامہ بن لادن اور القاعدہ کے دیگر سینئر رہنماوں کو پناہ دی اور مدد کی پیشکش کی۔ وائٹ ہاوس نئی سیکورٹی ٹیم کیلئے آزادتفتیش کاروں کے نام تجویز کر سکتا ہے' یہ انکوائری احتساب کرنے کے قابل اور آزاد ہو گی اور ایسے نتائج تلاش کرے گی جو امریکی حکومت اور عوام کے لیے قابل قبول ہوں' ایسے لوگوں کی تفصیل ہو گی جنہوں نے القاعدہ سربراہ اسامہ بن لادن کو مدد دی یا پناہ دی اور جو حکومت پاکستان کے بااثر حلقے سے قریب ہو، اسامہ بن لادن کمیشن اسامہ سے تعلق رکھنے والے سرکاری اور ایجنسیوں کے اہلکاروں کیخلاف کارروائی کرکے فوری نتائج دے گا۔ نئی قومی سیکورٹی ٹیم پاکستانی سرزمین پر باقی رہ جانے والی القاعدہ یا دیگر متعلقہ گروپوں کی لیڈرشپ کو حوالے کیے جانے کی پالیسی نافذ کرے گی۔ان رہنماوں میں ایمن الظواہری، ملاعمر اور سراج الدین حقانی شامل ہیں یا امریکی ملٹری فورسز کو ان افراد کو پاکستانی سرزمین پر گرفتار یا ہلاک کرنے کے لیے فوری آپریشن کا گرین سگنل دیا جائے گا۔ میمو میں کہا گیا ہے کہ یہ کھلی اجازت دینا سیاسی خطرہ کے بغیرہ نہیں مگر یہ ہماری سرزمین سے برے عناصر کا خاتمہ کرنے کے ہمارے عزم کو ظاہر کرتا ہے 'اس عزم کو سویلین قیادت کی بھی حمایت حاصل ہو گی اور یقین دلاتے ہیں کہ اس سلسلے میں ضروری تھی،پاکستان کی حکومت، ایوان صدر اور وزارت خارجہ پہلے ہی ان الزامات کی تردید کر چکی ہے۔پاکستانی نژاد امریکی کاروباری شخصیت منصور اعجاز نے گزشتہ ماہ برطانوی اخبارفنانشل ٹائمز میں شائع ہونے والے اپنے کالم میں دعویٰ کیا تھا کہ ایک اعلیٰ پاکستانی سفارت کار نے ان سے فون کر کے کہا تھا کہ صدر زرداری وائٹ ہاس تک یہ پیغام پہنچانا چاہتے ہیں۔منصور اعجاز کے بقول دو مئی کو ایبٹ آباد میں خفیہ امریکی آپریشن میں اسامہ بن لادن کی ہلاکت کے بعد پاکستانی صدر کو خدشہ تھا کہ فوج ان کی حکومت کا تختہ الٹ دے گی اس لئے انہوں نے اوباما انتظامیہ سے مدد طلب کی تھی۔اگرچہ منصور اعجاز نے اپنے مضمون میں سفارت کار کا نام نہیں بتایا ہے لیکن پاکستان کے ذرائع ابلاغ یہ تاثر دے رہے ہیں کہ صدر زرداری کے مبینہ خط کو امریکی حکام تک پہنچانے میں مرکزی کردار حسین حقانی نے ادا کیا ہے۔منصوراعجاز کے مطابق یہ پیغام سفارتکارکے ذریعے ملک کی اہم شخصیت کی جانب سے دیا گیاتھا اس حوالے سے ان کے اور سفارتکار کے درمیان 36پیغامات کا تبادلہ ہواتھا جن میں بلیک بیری ،ایس ایم ایس اور ای میل پیغامات شامل تھے ،پھرایک خط ترتیب دیا گیا تھا جومبینہ طور پر اس وقت امریکی فوج کے سربراہ مائیک مولن کو پہنچایاگیا تھا ۔ماہرین کے مطابق کچھ عرصہ قبل امریکی میڈیامیں پاک فوج اورآئی ایس آئی کے بارے میں کئی رپورٹس شائع ہوئیں ،ماہرین کے مطابق ہوسکتاہے کہ امریکی میڈیاکی مہم کا اس خط سے تعلق ہو۔

اسلام آباد(آئی این پی) وفاقی وزیر پیٹرولیم و قدرتی وسائل سینیٹر ڈاکٹر عاصم حسین نے کہا ہے کہ حکومت پبلک ٹرانسپورٹ کے علاوہ تمام گاڑیوں میں سی این جی کے استعمال پر آئندہ ایک سال کے دوران پابندی عائد کرنے پر غور کر رہی ہے ' سی این جی کٹس اور سی این جی والی گاڑیوں کی درآمد پر پابندی کیلئے سمری اقتصادی رابطہ کمیٹی کو بھجوا دی ہے 'آئندہ اجلاس میں اس پر فیصلہ ہو گا' قومی اسمبلی اور سینیٹ سے پیٹرولیم لیوی اور گیس انفرااسٹرکچر سرچارج بل کی منظوری خوش آئند اقدام ہے۔وہ جمعہ کو پارلیمنٹ ہاوس کے باہر میڈیا سے بات چیت کر رہے تھے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ قومی اسمبلی اور سینیٹ سے پیٹرولیم لیوی اور گیس انفرااسٹرکچر سرچارج بل کی منظوری خوش آئند اقدام ہے اس سے حکومت کو 94 ارب روپے سالانہ ریونیو حاصل ہو گا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ آئندہ سال سے ملک میں گیس کی قلت نہیں ہو گی۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ یوریا کھاد کی قلت اور قیمتوں کو کنٹرول کرنے کیلئے وزارت خزانہ اور وزارت صنعت و پیداوار کی بات چیت جاری ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ گیس لوڈ مینجمنٹ شیڈول پر عمل درآمد ہر صورت یقینی بنایا جائے گا ۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ ایران ترکمانستان سے گیس 2013ءمیں آنا شروع ہو جائے گی جس سے ملکی توانائی پوری کرنے میں مدد ملے گی۔

Ron Paul Fans: Here Is Why The Media Lost Interest In Your Candidate

Ron Paul has been consistently polling 3rd in the early Republican primary states. And yet, as the Paul-fans in our comments section constantly remind us, Ron Paul doesn't get respect from the media. Why is that?

There are a few minor reasons:

In 2008, Ron Paul seemed totally new, a huge contrast to the party discipline that had characterized the GOP under Bush.

His money-bombs were a big story four years ago. Less so now. The media has reported that he has a core of super-dedicated followers.

And while Ron Paul has been holding steady in the polls, he hasn't ever threatened to become a front-runner. He's never polled at 25 percent nationally, or in any of the early states.

But here's the big reason why the media has lost interest in Ron Paul: He has already won. He has changed our politics.

Don't believe it?

In 2008 Paul was the only Republican candidate talking about the Fed.

Now Fed-bashing has entered into the bloodstream of conservatism. We've seen it in this campaign Rick Perry to Michelle Bachman.

In 2008, every Republican but Ron Paul was outdoing each other in making bombastic threats to foreign nations, doubling down on the Bush legacy of pre-emptive war.

Now the other candidates are routinely questioning why America needed to bomb Libya. GOP hopefuls like Jon Huntsman are telling their audiences that "only Pakistan can save Pakistan" and preaching against having so many entanglements.

Of course none of these other candidates have staked out positions on foreign policy and the Fed that are as strictly principled as Ron Paul's - but clearly Paul's campaign has shifted the consensus in the party.

That means he no longer clashes with the party in the same way as he once did. Hence, less media coverage. Conflict drives media coverage.

If Ron Paul's fans want him to win a lot more media coverage- he needs to break through what people perceive as his ceiling of 14-17 percent. If you want him to really shake up the political-media world, take him to victory in Iowa's caucuses.

And, most importantly, Speaker Gingrich is going to continue to stand up to the liberal media. We will not allow President Obama's allies to dictate the terms of this campaign - it's the voters who will decide who gets to take on Obama for the office of President of the United States.

Republican Congressman and Mad Max Looneytarian Ron Paul - who lives down the street a piece here in Dumbutt, Texas - is as bad as it gets in politics.

It is not only his desire to eliminate the Dept of Agriculture to refuse food stamps for the hungry, but also eliminating public education in lieu of Taliban indoctrination centers, Social Security to put millions of old people into cardboard boxes, Medicare so they will die in their cardboard boxes, Workman's comp to force millions more people next door to the old people in their cardboard boxes with no food or health care, FEMA to make sure people get no help from disasters, Head Start to make children stupid, deregulation of civil rights statutes, environmental laws, banking and Wall Street. And of course to make sure no one has to pay any taxes to promote the general welfare of anyone, anywhere at anytime.
